I fully agree, and as a former owner of my beloved '93 SHO (looked exactly like the red one in this video) , the SHO really had no competition.... you had to have driven/owned one to truly understand that. I would buy one in a heart beat if I found one... I sure as shit would not jump to own any of the cars listed as the SHOs "competition". That is all, thanks for reading lol.
I will agree that it was rather good at what it did. However, most people today don't know what it is and just see it as an old lady's car. Owning one, I can tell you that there is something about it that makes it so special. You really have to own one and live with it on a day to day basis to understand.
LOL @ 4:45. 91Taurus, you reminded me I have a number of Taurus dealer training videos I need to digitize. Just need to figure out the best way to do that. Thanks for posting this!
I had a 92 Taurus GL 3.0 sedan. Was it a good car? Not by today's standards. Did it need front outer tie rods, lower ball joints, rear strut assemblies? Yep. Was it slow? Yep. But was it easy and comfortable to drive? Yep! Did it give reasonable mileage? Yep. Were the controls simple to operate? Yep. Was the ride nice and was it great for long trips? Yep an yep. I got rid of mine after nearly 200k when the trans finally let go.
The Probe was the 1993 Motor Trend Car of the Year. It was introduced in 1989 and was intended to replace the Mustang. There was a massive hue and cry from car enthusiasts, and eventually Ford changed its mind and kept Mustang in production, but still sold the Probe. As fate would have it, Probe was discontinued in 1997.
@@terrance75 also discontinued. But not related in any way. The next generation Probe morphed into the 99 Cougar in an effort to revitalize the Mercury brand. We all know how that went. It would've sold better if it had Ford badging
I must love this car I have spent way more on the car more than what the market of these cars are worth, mechanically its brand new brakes, clutch, timing belt, most of the sensors, I did the clutch myself and oh man never have I done such a big job had to buy an engine hoist and a slew of other tools needless to say I have VIP at rockauto and Gary from UPS has is married and has two kids 4 and 8 and he loves to go water skiing!!! I do really like the car and its rare to find someone that knows what a 92 SHO is about...... Gary now knows what these cars are........
Lee Reader I've had a 1995 taurus, as well as a 1997,1998,1999, and 2002. Some of the most reliable cars ever made. Just change the fluid/filter and don't beat on it, and them and they'll run forever
@@matt9759 YES! Someone finally gets it. People moan and complain about the Taurus transmissions but do they realize that you can't go past 50,000 miles without changing the fluid/filter on these cars? My aunt's 1992 Mercury Sable LS wagon has over 200,000 miles on it and it still has it's factory transmission with no problems ever.
I have both but the Probe tape is something like 45mins long cause it was brand new for 1993. It'd take forever to render that and would use up a ton of my upload allowance for the month
Dude, PLEASE Upload that, or possibly send me a copy if you can. I'm looking to use it to play in my in car entertainment during car shows. I'd LOVE to see that shit and I know the Probe Community would kill for it.
whoohaaXL Alright I'll do it because I'm a car enthusiast first and foremost. But you''ll have to wait a couple weeks till I get some more internets from those bastards I pay every month
@1996TaurusMan I can't argue with that. It just seemed odd to me for a V6 to be absent in a car like the Mustang, it kinda seems "all or nothing" if you know what I mean.
And as for it being fast, yes and no. Back then, Yes. It was fast, especially for a family sedan. Nowadays, it really isn't that fast. But it does keep of with the other cars rather well.
Wow, I'm watching this in 2021... This is probably the experience you'd get in 1993 watching vhs tapes about the '64 Ford cars.
4:45 haha the so called theifs reaction to the probes alarm system is just priceless

This actor did training videos for GM too
cool rare vintage upload!! Thanks!
Wow on the Taurus, there is no Primus’ Sailing the Seas of Cheese cassette in there.

Nick Myers do you have any Aerostar Promotional Videos
My Parents had both a '92 Tempo Coupe and '94 Aerostar.
Ugh, remember when every car came in a wagon version? Now none of them do :(
That was the days before SUVs
Dennis W they had SUVs ever since the 1940's. so that statement is not correct.
I wish they still did. I hate the oversaturation of Crossover SUVs.
You have? That's good, because the SHO was the ULTIMATE performance sedan, and it still is one of the best today
The SHO is a really good car, not because of your opinion, but because of how good it actually is
Taurus with smooth shifting transmission?? HA! That's a good one
Yeah it's a good one if you actually bother to change the transmission fluid and filter when you're supposed to.

Ford Probe is now Ford Fusion.

I always liked those Mazda based Escorts
@Duratec86
I'd be great if you could upload those to youtube. I'd love to see some that I don't have
Do you have anything on either the Econoline/Club Wagon or F-Series?
Do you have any other ford model line up videos?
i got a 91 mustang LX 5.0 bought it brand new, also a 1992 Taurus SHO 5 speed, for some reason I feel the need for 93 thunderbird super coupe........

I have seen that video. It makes feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.......lol
@ 4:43 the probe is like help me! help me! lol
I guess thats why it says "Presenting Ford Cars in 1993", and they showcase the all new1993 Probe.......because they're really 1992's
Or the Escort 1993 Training?
Of course it is a good car, you should see 91Taurus' 1990 Taurus SHO dealer training video
Thanks!

I used someone else's internet and uploaded the video. Be sure to show the Probe community

This is the training video for 1992 models, not 1993.
taurusguy95 But it was made a year after the 1992 models went on sale.
Did it not? The video says it did
So you can't get a 4 cylinder Taurus, but you CAN get a 4 cylinder Mustang? What??
You could get a 4 cyl Taurus from 86-91.
Oh, Ok. are you saying that it actually is very fast?
Aerostar,Explorer,Bronco?.
This was for passenger cars, they'd have made a separate video for Ford Trucks, vans, etc.
That is true
The SHO had no real competition......haha
All these cars were thoroughly competitive, except the damn Tempo. Why didn't they try harder?
Ooooh Ford, you used to be so much better. What the fuck is an EcoSport? :(
Ford has been shit after the mid and late 2000s.
The probe seats are NAPPY
And as for it being fast, yes and no. Back then, Yes. It was fast, especially for a family sedan. Nowadays, it really isn't that fast. But it does keep of with the other cars rather well.
The 3.8 was a complete turd, headgasket problems which took the bottom end out of them
