Pretty heavy handed
I am overwhelming disturbed by this ad. Did any women view it before it was released? Just who is that gun pointing at? Please edit. There is a war against women in the US and in many
places around the world.
These comments are precisely why urbanites need to escape the city in order to better understand the larger, natural world.
"Urbanites" eh? Interesting that you would take my criticism of a corporate produced video and make assumptions about my walk of life. The video IS heavy handed. Its an ad agency's attempt to present a saccharine, Hallmark Entertainment version of the outdoors. It checks every box of syrupy sentimentality, and has such an over the top score it would make Danny Elfman blush. It feels more like a commercial for LDS than an anthem to the outdoors.
But what would I know? I'm just a sheltered "urbanite" too afraid to step out of Starbucks, right?
Never mind the fact that I've lived a life dedicated to the outdoors, with 12 years of a professional career spent all over the world, working to share the absolutely, astoundingly beautiful world we live in. An "urbanite" such as myself couldn't possibly have spent a third of my life working in places like Antarctica, The Galapagos Islands, Central America, South America, and US National and State Parks to bring awareness of the "larger, natural world".
An "urbanite" like me would never dedicate a passion for the outdoors to organizations that have contributed millions of dollars and countless human hours to conservation and stewardship initiatives, including over 2000 non-profit organizations around the world, including those that support local efforts in the Pacific Northwest.
And there's CERTAINLY no chance an "urbanite" like me could have spent a childhood angling with my father on the Deschutes River in central OR, or exploring the rainforests of western WA, or discovering the inexplicable wonder of the west coast with a mother who encouraged her son to develop his fascination of wildlife and natural history into a career.
Yup, an "urbanite" like me prefers to get an idealized version of the outdoors force fed to me in an over-produced youtube video so that I can smugly nod my head, sit in my desk chair, and say, "Yup, exactly how I imagined it".
You must live a sad and angry life.
