    Great review! Very articulate and to the point. These types of reviews are really valuable, especially as someone who spends hours and hours researching.

    Way late, but still. I was looking at a sub for my audio system and saw this video. So I went to an audio shop an hour's drive away. To make a long story short: I bought a barely used Rel 212SE. Last gen and Rel's favorite for a while. It's like 2 S812 on top of an other. But yes, obviously hearing a full range church organ (Anna Lapwood) on bookshelf speakers (Harbeth M30.1) is very cool, but for me it was indeed the special information. That is really something! Thanks for the video and the tip!

    nice job guys. LOVE that you both bought a pair of 812s. That was my intent. But in conference with REL they said that due to my vaulted ceilings a 212/SX was required. WOW. I now understand what it means to have a room "pressurized".

    Just so you know, REL was founded in Bridgend, (pronounced Bridge end), in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 , not England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

      Thank you for clarifying! That was my fault, I didn't look into proper pronunciation. I will remember this in future videos

    I just received a pair of T7i subs yesterday. They are beautiful, but I wonder if they would look better, from the front, if the grill was circular and only covered the driver. That way, the nice piano black finish would be visible from the front.
    Anyway, I'm looking forward to receiving the KEF LS50 Meta speakers I ordered (which are currently on backorder), so I can get everything hooked up and give it a listen.

    • @TheFinerThings
      @TheFinerThings  3 года назад

      That system sounds like it’s going to be fantastic! What are you powering the KEF’s with?

    • @mtkreger

      @@TheFinerThings This system will be dual purpose for music listening and HT. The amp is a Sony STR-DA4ES, which I bought new many years ago. It's still in great shape. It was fairly highly regarded, years ago. So, hopefully, it will not drag down the KEF/REL components. I also have a KEF LS50C ordered, as I want the center speaker to match the fronts. Most of the music will be streamed. A Bluesound Node 2i, that arrived yesterday, will be handling that via Amazon Music HD.
      My fingers are crossed that everything will play nice together.

      I might consider some alternative streamers. The Bluesound piece measures very poorly.

      The Speakon connector is for sure the superior connection for musical purposes! You can purchase upgraded speakon/REL cables from awesome companies like Analysis Plus and Audioquest.

    If you are using a subwoofer you are not a true audio person it’s two speakers and a preamp and amps or receiver or amp and a music source like a turn table I’ve got subwoofers in my speakers because I have the right equipment it will drowned out any subwoofer ever made period

      Disagree ! My Speakers are custom built Daedalusaudio.com check them out on the youtube at AXpona CAF plus custom built high end tube mono amps a PS. audio Directstream DAC Plus Wywire Diamond IC I have been an audiophile all my adult life In the past owned Kef Blades & still own a two pairs of KEF LS50 one active 1 passive . I own a Pair of S/812 they are certainly class A performance these are the only subs that I would use for music Yes their are some floor standing speakers that do not require a sub but most do for better quality of listening experience

      4252applebee those little speakers I just looked at no wonder you need a subwoofer my speakers are far superior to anything they have all bought brand new consecutive serial numbers and over 40 plus years old my JBL L-150,s and L-200 L-300 are just a small piece of my equipment I have c60 Soverigns S8r with 375 drivers that 10 watts of tube power will break out the windows if you think those little speakers are better you need to quit doing drugs if those were better speakers I would buy them but not big enough sound period
