Spyro speed runs are so impressive to me.. literally memorizing a route for the entire game, knowing where every single gem is, and the exact path to take to pick them up. Plus the movement/camera in this game is pretty aids, mastering all the movement glitches and never making mistakes is the cherry on top

You are very, very awesome in playing this speedrun, and you gave me so much inspiration that I'm here to inform you that I'm going to start speedrunning Spyro: Year of the Dragon following what you do in this video. I know all the polygons, distances and have an accurate eye for collisions, I also DREAM ABOUT it some night o_o . I'm fully in, just have to learn all those modern things like double jump and so one... Wish me good luck ;) I WANT THAT RED GEM! x)

Sto elaborando un algoritmo che permetta di mappare tutte le gemme , le uova e gli ostacoli nel mondo di Spyro 3, in modo da calcolare matematicamente la miglior route in assoluto, al fine di avere finalmente la TAS perfetta, a discapito delle TAS fatte fin'ora, basate solo sull'intuizione. Se solo la community di Spyro non fosse così tossica, magari avrei ottenuto più supporto, però diciamo che sono a buon punto. Nitrof ovviamente si salva, lui è sempre stato pacato e molto supporter della mia idea.

This is just like knowing that you could spin those stupid logs from the level Ruination in Crash 2, for a beginner those gorillas can be a pain in the ass if you don't know that trick lol
Could we please have a moment of silence for the poor defenceless frogs who were mercilessly killed at 2:05:12 and 2:05:14. There they were minding their own business when they were killed in what was an act of cold blooded murder. RIP the frogs. :( Seriously though, great speedrun. I just finished watching your 2:55 speedrun and then I was presented with a 2:52 speedrun. Keep up the good work. :)
was replaying this for the first time recently and wondered how a speedrun would look for 117%. some really impressively tight movement for how sloppy these characters control, really funto watch
This was such a treat to watch and congratulations on your WR. Something that was asked on the stream but being on WR pace it's understandable you didn't pay attention to it but on 2:22:36 why the game said you already had the egg?
2:37:27 he breaks a underwater vase but also break the one next to it. but he never touches the one next to it. the other vase shatters without him even close to the hit box. something is not right here.
This is done on the NTSC 1.1 (Greatest Hits and Collectors Edition) version. It looses me 20-ish seconds over someone playing on the original NTSC 1.0 version, since 1.0 does not get the cutscene before Spike and can exit out of Speedway 3-4 seconds earlier.
@@Nitrofski So, you run on a PS2 (fastest disc speed setting on?) or a PS1? I thought you ran on emulator. Is there a reason you choose to run on the version which gives you a disadvantage or is it simply because you only have a copy of that version?
@@hypnotised-clover Yes, PS2 with FDS enabled. I run on 1.1 because that's the version I got as a kid and I'm using the same disc to this day. I never felt the need to buy the faster version, and playing on 1.1 I even get the complete soundtrack 🙃

I have no interest in playing the reignited trilogy in a speedrun context. The original games are far more fun.

What version of the game is the speedrun done on? I know there's quite a few versions, most obviously with the music.
