I love that you explain the process, as you take us through each step. I appreciate you explain how you mix your colors. That is something I need to learn more about. Thank you. I'm amazed at your drawing skills, I still need to erase and try again and again, then use ink. I love watching you do it without fear of mistakes.
Becky thank you so much for your tutorials. I am a complete beginner. I am 54. In one of your videos for beginners you said that a person should start drawing every day , simple things like an apple, things in your house like a jar, etc. You also said to do the coloring with pencils before jumping to water colors. Would it be possible for you to do some tutorials for drawing simple items and coloring them with pencils? Thank you very much. Carla
Hi Carla, thank you very much for your appreciation and interest in my art and teaching. So before attempting watercolors or any other color medium (oil, acrylic, etc), it is important to see, practice and understand things in black and white values. a few graphite pencils are simple and great materials to practice this. There is no need to prepare a huge amount of materials to start learning. If you are a beginner, it's important to find a teacher to guide you through the fundamental skills and show you the pathway. A teacher can help you improve much faster and save you from many frustrations. When you gain a certain amount of skills, then you can self-taught and be more independent. I teach beginner's drawing and painting class every Saturday on Zoom. All classes will be recorded so if you miss some parts, you always have the recordings to follow up. I love your art, & the way you explain your process, thanks so much for sharing. It's very helpful for those who are learning sketching & watercolor and very interesting & inspiring to watch.
I loved this! I like the way you focus on what you actually see and how you explain it. And I love how you try for accuracy but don't sweat it. Sometimes I see so many people focused on "realism" and I don't understand why because if I wanted realism I would just stick in a photo and call it a day. I love how you explain each step and give a reason for why you are doing what you are doing. In one of your other videos you said sketch everything, nothing is too boring, and when you got done I thought the spread was amazing...very inspirational! Thank you so much.
I really like when you point out the different shapes and things that you are seeing. That has been my struggle, I need to simplify what I am seeing! Thank you so much for doing these videos!
