Stunning, natural birdhouse, not to mention the amazing craftsmanship! May I suggest not adding a base plate and simply drilling several small holes in the bottom, for drainage. Also, that huge entrance hole should be at least half that size and brought (way) up, closer to the roof peak. There are so many bird species that would readily take to this birdhouse. I would totally buy your creations. Beautiful!
First I thought that you are going to carve into this wood log, but after few minutes I understood your plan. By the way, it solid sturdy yet looking so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. This is a very activity during this lockdown period.
nice bird house I would place the hole much higher no direct contact with outside cold wind and good birdies don't want their babies to sneak their way out of the nest too easily thanks for sharing :)
Great little birdhouse, please don't take the wrong way ,just two things.the hole should maybe be higher and you don't need a perch .all the perch does is let bigger birds land and take the eggs/chicks and with a hole that big it wouldn't take much doing .having said that I've had birds nesting in pipes and plant pots. .I don't think the bird is that bothered...nice job.
fishtank5050 Hi, I agree with you about the hole but, in nature, a lot of nests are exposed to predators. Anyway thanks for the tip, I will do better next time.
Ah the great pro / anti perch debate raises it's ugly head again 😁 And as far as hole size goes, I use many different hole sizes and let the birds choose the best one, because they know best, they will pick the smallest size that they can fit through so larger birds can't get in, nature rules !!! BTW good job 👍 that's some brutal hand sawing, phew
You should have made a removable roof to be able to clean the room yearly. Some species of birds need clean place for nesting. I leave in France and this is the case of most of the birds in my garden. That said, I will probably try to do as you. I have a few logs in my backyard. They will be perfect for that use.
Very nice job , please take my advise , the hole/entrance is way too low , any predator can easy get in to the house and grab out any bird children (experiance) .If the entrance is higher or/if the house is longer/higher any predators dont reach .
Wouldn't it be better to keep de base plate inside the house ? Now when it rains, water will stay on the base plate and go between the sides and the base plate, creating rot. If you make your base plate round and put it inside, the rain will flow down the sides of the house and drip down.
Ciao Vito Costa. Complimenti per l'idea e per la tua formidabile manualità. Potrei sapere che tipo di legno hai usato ed approssimativamente le dimensioni (altezza-diametro)? Grazie :)
.....it is a magpie and crow buffét. They can sit on the little stick and pick the eggs/chicks right out. ....i just cannot understand why people Seem to make the entrance hole, in the BOTTOM of the cavety instead of in the top ?
Vito COSTA, sorry for the thumb down. Everyone before building study and even a bird house has its specifications and requirements for living. If you will google "how to make a birdhouse", you'll be surprised your bird house won't match standards of any bird house. Pay attention not only on every detail of measurements for a specific bird house, but the most important - how to attach it properly to make it domesticated - high level from the ground and the direction of the house itself.
Iulian Ceban Sorry but I'm stupid and ignorant ! "Everyone before building study" ... good to know ! Relax. It's only a simple birds shelter and, despite this, two birds laid their eggs inside since I built it. You don't like it, thumb down but ... your justification ... ?! It's only a simple birds shelter without any pretense.
Iulian Ceban About the high level from the ground and the direction of the house, what you see in the video is just a way to show the house not its right position.
I just wanted you to know that when I see someone using a table saw in a manner that can cause you to have an accident and loose fingers/hand --- I tune out and refuse to like or sub.
The thickness of the walls keeps it well insulated for all year round ! 😍😍😍

Yes, now I know, I didn't think about it. Better next time.

Man. Using that old bow saw is doing it the hard way. I respect that. Good job
And he got really good straight cuts, respect 👍
That is fantastic craftsmanship, I love it but isn’t the entry point a bit too large?
Vito you have a good heart and that is more important than the dimensions the critics are yapping about ! 👍🏻😉

Nice squirrel box
Nice bird house. I liked the technique you used to create the inside.
Molto bella a forma di tronco. Like
Cool! But why so big hole? What bird do you have in mind? And the hole should be higher up so the nest dont reach the opening
Håkan Gustavsson Be nice ! His heart is in it ❤️ and that’s enough ! Vaer ikke grussom !

but hole entrance need more higher near its roof so the chicks can't climb it..

Nicely made bird box ,rustic but tidy.although the hole is too low.
NJ Nyboer Hi, I agree with you about the hole. I will do better next time, thanks.
Nice job - but the hole is to big and to far down.
Nice job the birds will be happy.
Thanks
Awesome but you have power tools bro . use them.

Must be 1 time use lol
How do you clean it out. Julien
Good Job man I dont know why people be hating this, i guess opinions are like aholes everybody's got one
The starlings and English sparrows are gonna love it. One more nest for non-native birds to raise a brood and destroy native birds.Good job.
Bob Hoof I think he is in Europe where English sparrows and starlings are native .

Did any bird lived there?
So cute ...I hope some birds can see it .
Do not use chemicals like glue birds don’t like to get high sniffing glue like humans
Happy little bird houses.
ne jamais mettre de perchoir sous le trou d'envol, il peut servir aux prédateurs! mais merci pour la Nature !!!
Gracious! 😍💖💞💞💞💞
How do you get in to clean it out.?
I used silicone and screws to attach the bottom. Silicone, not glue. It's easy to remove and clean!
Great job but again the hole is to low
Nach meiner Meinung ist das Loch zu tief gesetzt! Aber ansonsten eine schöne Arbeit!
SUPER👍👍👍
looks like that took a lot of work and thought thanks
Hello , does the hole needs to be central and circular?
The hole is far too big

Yes, You're right, I'll make the hole at the right height next time.
Give him a break kamerad ! His heart is in it . Tree holes in nature come in all sizes and positions.
Nice work.... If you have video accepting nest so please upload.
Awesomeness man

use the most comfortable screws ...
Great idea thank you
Great vid! I'm curious to know what kind of birds will use that kind of birdhouse? Owl maybe?
david david Robin, too small for owls, the hole at least.
@@vitocosta plz stop commercializing the bird house, let it be at the discretion of birdee num num and let them watch us instead we watch them

You should make a better work on roof. maybe a 45 degree cut on each part.
Linda
The hole should be nearer the top, it's far too low

It seems to me that the hole is too big

I followed the instructions but ended up with a outhouse.
The hole is too low and big.
За каким хреном такой огромный леток делать? Там что, индюк жить будет?!
Lovely job, but have to say the hole is too large and too high. However, as a piece of woodwork I greatly admire it.
Le trou est trop gros !!!! Pas plus de 3 cm !!!

The hole is too big !!!! No more than 1,18 " !!!

Got a thumbs down because birds need ventilation!!
How big a hole do you need for ventilation ..?
