I saw Anthem on sale for 5 dollars at Gamestop about a year ago. This was a brand new copy mind you. Never played it, bought for the meme

i bought it for 5 dollars too but i actually tried to play it. but its so badly optimized it was unplayable on my pc even tho any other game i play works fine.
I saw Anthem in the bargain bin at my local walmart for $1. I commented, "That's still too expensive."

My whole family pretty much has a lot of issues with sleepwalking. One night before I left for college I dreamt I was running through my old elementary school and the next day mom said I was sprinting up and down the halls and tried to climb into the fridge. Another night my sister completely left the house and we found her over by our chicken coop dancing like nobody's business.

Yeah, i dunno. can't agree that sleep is useless, more that the things we find "productive" actually don't really mean anything except for the meaning we give them.
Also, huh, no wonder my body just collapsed through my java programming lectures.
Sleeping is truly a curse, It takes 1/3 of your life away and you can't even control or be productive with it.

@Fureori that's just a youthful brain in auto-pilot. You have to have consciously realized "This is a dream" for it to be lucid. Maybe you did. I don't think they're that rare, I used to have them all the time. Just a vivid crazy unrealistic dream that you remember isn't lucid

Did you know that the Creators of Anthem resented Destiny so much, they wanted to be known as a "Destiny-killer" and intentionally made design choices to be the opposite of what Destiny is? For example, you play Destiny in first-person, but the social space is played in third-person.

My parents used to say that I would sleep walk when I was a kid with my eyes wide open and I would not remember it when I woke up. It hasn't happened for a while now and it used to happen mostly when I did not go pee before sleeping or when I was stressed out.
Anthem flunked because they answered to the investors and not the design docs. Their vision was non existent and nothing was explainable, so they had to guess a lot.

@@carsondubs yes most of the time but I had one monster that kept coming back it once a while. It was a shadow so I didn’t see it’s face but it had long hair that’s all I remember. I would just later learn to close my eyes and focus on moving slowly. But I haven’t got any in many years and I’m glad 😂

I'm a NH resident and I had completely forgotten about that story until Kaya brought it up. I remember seeing it on the local news. It was at a fair ground that I used to go to every year.
Speaking as a fan of BioWare, I legitimately wanted another No Man’s Sky to happen where Anthem started as this massive disaster that everyone hated and then the developers can just.... focus on making it better with updates and this huge I suppose remake of this game.
But now Anthem 2.0 is dead. And now they’re focusing on the next Mass Effect and Dragon Age 4, which I believe is confirmed to be a single player game when it was originally live service so that’s good news. I wish the best for BioWare devs and employees. While it’s sort of a step in the right direction, our hope and faith in BioWare is pretty low. Here’s hoping it’ll be a redemption arc.

All of BioWare's games pre Inquisition were masterpieces, Kotor, Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect 1-3, even Dragon Age 2, Inquisition was a huge disappointment since it was "just okay"
It's honestly hard to believe Inquisition is as popular as it is, it's like the people who love it have never played any other game...before the Trespasser DLC that is, I feel like people mistake Trespasser for the entire game and forget how garbage the original game is
@@spacejesus6581 That is a fair argument. In my opinion, Inquisition DLC is far superior to base game, which IMO I still think is a decent game. I liked the combat, the companions, and the environments. I do think that the story took a massive hit though, compared to the other two games. I also feel like it massively knee-capped itself for being cross generational instead of going full next generation at the time.
But Jaws of Hakkon was very very good, kinda like improving every aspect of the foundations Inquisition wanted to hit. The Descent was very good imo mainly for just being this gorgeous environment that explains a big part of Thedas in such small ways, and imo Trespasser is actual perfection as DLC.
Also regarding this comment I made in the first place, I would say my opinions changed. If Anthem 2.0 were to happen and it’d be successful, I have a sneaking suspicion that they would lock down even harder on the idea of DA4 being a live service game instead of a SP RPG game, which is exactly what I don’t want. I still remain weary of whatever BioWare brings to the table next, but I very much look forward to DA4 going back to its roots as another single player game where I don’t have to interact with other players to steal Solas’s loot or something stupid like it was going to be.
@@itsjarrrd Origins and DA2 had almost polar opposite combat systems while still having the same feel to them and even having the same tactics system, Inquistion IMO attempts to combine them while ditching the tactics system and the actual level up screen, leading to a very very very balanced (in a bad way) combat system. It seems like no matter what you choose you are forced to fill a slot and no matter what the slot fits, on one hand this is good because it means combat isn't too easy or difficult, but it also throws the idea of mixed class combat out the window, the fact you can have yourself be a rogue while having Varric Sera and Cole and win any battle just as easily as a balanced mage/warrior/warrior/rogue party is just dumb, ruins the point of having classes in the first place.
Also the fact you can walk up to a "dead" party member and just hold a button to revive them instead of having to use a specific class talent takes the risk of losing a party member out the window, in Origins before you had Wynns/unlocked Spirit Healer, if a party member went down your chances of winning went down insanely fast, but with Inquisition you can just swap to a ranged character and walk over to them
With the embracing the next console thing I agree, I also think that by not embracing the next console they made the Keep very lazily, it's stupid how when it comes to things like Ostagar it has every single possible quest and option but for actual consequential things they're just absent (The apostate Mages questlines for example). Turning the Mages in to the Templars or bribing the Templar in Redcliff should have some sort of consequence you would think, and even if it doesn't why is the prisoner of Ostagar there? If we don't include things that have no consequences why have things like The Hungry Prisoner or Rogek's lyrium?
I will agree they nailed _some_ of the party members, I feel like Cole Solas and Dorian were excellent characters, though some like Sera are just awful. I think Sera is underrated (some people hate her to an extent that's just weird) but still a bad character.
Meanwhile with Origins all the party members (yes, even Oghren) are lovable in their own ways, if you bring Oghren to the Temple of Sacred Ashes you see how tragic a character he truly is, every single party member in Origins was perfect. Almost all party members in 2 were great (I hate Fenris, I feel he's a lazy character since he's literally "waaah I was a slave to Mages so Mages bad"), Carver has one of the best arcs I've seen in a video game. Contest this with Inquisition where even more characters are awful or boring.
@@spacejesus6581 I personally liked Sera, I think she’s really fun when she starts to sort of calm down and befriend you when high approval. I also really like her character development in Trespasser where she actually has matured and all.
I feel like Oghren really aged poorly in times such as these. But I will still enjoy his company. Plus he’s a fun party member to use and also Steve Blum is fucking awesome.
In any case, DA4 will be single player, it will be full next generation (BW confirmed this I believe), and it will be BW’s fully focused-on game at the moment, so hopefully no mismanagement or crunch time which were the two BIG main things that killed both Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem. I still am very skeptical, given Bioware’s recent history, but I still remain hopeful, now more than ever

I know exactly what you mean Jackson. In a regular dream you're simply just "watching" everything almost like a movie. But in the kind of dreams you're having (I have those a lot) you're actually living life, or whatever the situation in the dream is, consciously without realizing it's a dream. I think this is one step away from actual lucid dreaming, which would be realizing it's a dream. Sometimes what happens to me is, I realize it's a dream and force myself to wake up. I wake up and then go on about my day only to eventually realize that I'm actually still dreaming, or actually wake up in real life and then realize I was still dreaming.
When Jackson described anthem as kinda generic he highlighted the biggest problem with a games today imo.

When I was 5, I sleepwalked to the garbage can in the house and started peeing in it while unconscious. My mom saw me doing it and let me know what happened the next day. Ever since then I’ve locked my door before bed.

The main theory is that dreams are your minds way of processing thoughts, memories and emotions in your subconscious. So I think there is definitely some merit to analysis, especially if you're dealing with repressed memories. Suffers of PTSD often dream of the traumatic event, but struggle to actively recall it when they are awake.

ever since i saw the trailer, i thought anthem was a cool game, but when i saw the "EA" Logo, all life was drained from me. Every EA game has horrific issues. I'm just wondering why people are so surprised about it.

My brother wanted to pre order Fallout 76, I gave him the same advice he gave me but he pre ordered it going on about how Bethesda is a trustful good company. You can actually lucid dream and not be able to control it. It makes nightmares really weird because when you wake up you loose no sense of the dream and it was like a light Flicked. I had it happy when I was younger. It was a real wild experience that I’ve always remembered

I've actually experimented a little and can slightly control my dream by playing a video while I sleep. It sort of works but sometimes it just pulls bits and pieces and just makes the setting even more fucked than normal
My sister is a sleep talker, scared the shit out of me multiple times, just sitting up and saying nonsense. And ALWAYS between 12-1am, no matter when she actually went to bed

Ngl anthem’s flying mechanics looks so goddamn cool (iron man simulator) and their designs. EA wasted this game as usual. That’s the only good part of the game

The subconscious mind is powerful. The conscious mind needs development through life. I have so many stories about sleep walking and sleep talking. Sometimes I just tell all in my sleep, including product sales. I got in the shower one time and woke up when the water hit me.
I was about a third of the way into the video, thinking "when is Anthem going to come into play?". Then they got into carnivals and scamming and I was primed for it.

You can train yourself to lucid dream, by waking yourself up a bit when you feel like you're falling. It traps you in a state where you're half awake. The bad thing about lucid dreaming is that it makes you much more tired than actually resting your brain. Saying this because I used to lucid dream often when I was a kid, I still occasionally do and it really only happens near the end of a sleep cycle or during a 3 hour nap.
They gave anthem a chance but they killed off dead space in an instant

can confirm, long time member of the community. It's gotten quite shit recently, though, there's always been issues in the community in terms of quality.
Like heres an example, the hard to destroy reptile. Was cool as hell at first due to it being adapting to survive most encounters so far, but they made it ambiguous enough to let you know that it CAN be killed, just really really hard. But now it became the fuckin superman or stupid ass doomsday of the foundation. Completely unreasonably broken to the point that it just dumb, zero tension and who gives a shit.

My friend has mastered sleeping. He lucid dreams almost every other night and does jumping jacks in his sleep, so he's really good at everything he does cause he just practices in his sleep, and he never does any physical activity but he's in great shape cause of the jumping jacks

I used to sleep walk all the time when I was younger. Once I had slipped on shoes, unlocked the front door and sat on the porch. Mom was flipping out. And one time I woke up after water touched me as I turned on the shower after getting in.

Yeah... I've woken up at red lights and corner stores in my car. All places I've been to often and were places I've gone to often while awake. The cornerstore actually knew me and showed me video of me walking out with like $20 of chips. I had woken up multiple times in their parking lot with half eaten food and drinks in my car.
I had to pay them several times for things I'd walked out with in my sleep. It was during a really hard time in my life(not money but family type stress, specifically before trips). Since then before trips I have to give my keys to someone else beforehand, especially if I was stressed about the trip. I still sleepwalk if stressed but I've somehow have learned to control it to my own house and fridge.

My first lucid dream was horrible. Everything started out perfect. I could literally do whatever I wanted to. The rest of the dream, though, was realizing that soon I would have to go back to the shitty real word. It was just sadness and knowing that I would have to go back to the endless pain of reality.

I have intensely vivid dreams. I can feel physical sensations in my dreams and even smell fresh air or feel the cold breeze hit my face. Sometimes my dreams are normal like going back to school or going to the store but sometimes i have scary ass backroom type dreams or dreams of my teeth turning into fangs and rotting out of my mouth over and over again

I bought the game at $10 when they announced the anthem next rework thinking it’ll jump up in price like how no mans sky jumped from $5 to $30... but now they are doing no update... I want a refund

I rented it for a couple of days for 5 dollars and I couldn't play past the prologue because the installation alone would take 2 days... To which I just said "Fuck it" returned it almost immediately. I payed for a 5 minute demo and I STILL want a refund!

I've only ever had one lucid dream, in which I announced aloud in the dream "this is a dream right now" but left it on rails instead of taking control of it.

I think what Jackson was trying to say is that he was lucid dreaming, but the events in the dream were so mundane that he didn't think to do anything crazy. He still has the free will, but there weren't any obvious signs that anything could happen.
Anthem was such a kick in the nuts that I have it nailed to a wall as a reminder to never pre order games, let friends hype up a game, or get a game within a year of it's launch.
It was sobering to say the least. And still, it had a bit of potential and I'm sad to see it go. It's been one hell of a ride.

Anthem had fun gameplay. The fighting was satisfying especially with combos. The flying was great and was fun to do whenever. But it was repetitive as all hell. I'm sad that it ended up like this cause I really wanted to keep playing it

Kay dunno what is up with you, the mortal kombat actually looks like a good trailer. The effects seem nice, with the character costumes seeming decent enough. Just the trailer alone looks really good, the movie might suck but you can't tell from a trailer like this, sincem it's nowhere near MANY other vidiogame adaptations.

@Fade Chungus well no they don't if you're already healthy. Multivitamins don't help people unless lacking in something, the rest gets pissed out without providing anything for the body. So unless you're the sickest, poorest person and somehow has money to buy some without being able to go to a doctor for real treatment, then they still do something but still not a solution.
