- One of the most important roles in a story is that of the protagonist. If the protagonist isn't well-written, then the story might suffer for it. Most protagonists need to be active in order to make the story progress. Denji works a bit differently and oddly enough, that only serves to amplify the story Chainsaw Man is trying to tell.

I'm really glad he's voiced by a newbie in the industry. That choice also taps into his character writing.
he wont be a newbie for long judging by that god tier performance

Great analysis, hella pertinent all the way through
Bro this anime is getting wilder and wilder every episode 😆
Funny how I’m catching up on the anime right now and.. this comes out. 😂
But fr, Denji is quite interesting. If I’m being honest, I don’t know how to feel about him sometimes because I understand where he comes from and, why he. would be the way he is but.. then there’s how shameless he is LOL. But I guess at least he’s honest!
But this such a great video! Really enjoyed it a lot.

While I agree with this analysis, there is something that has bothered me about this series since it’s debut that I just can’t seem to overlook.
It almost feels like the series tries to be more edgy then actually necessary in order to portray the message it intends. From ita debut it has always felt like an “over the top” portrayal of giving it all for seemingly nothing. A lot of the events and story choices as well as design choices have led me to ask “why” rather then admire what just happened or ponder what will happen. Even so much as the character design feels unnecessarily extra for little to no reason other then to stand out/bring attention to the series itself.
I really enjoy this series and I am loving how well it’s received so far, but I can’t shake the feeling that in a lot of ways the series feels like it’s missing the mark because of it’s over the top presentation.
I have 0 clue what you're on about. To me the story never even felt explicitly "edgy" and the character designs are the complete opposite of what you're saying.
But then again, the show is a "genre-piece" and very explicitly tries to experiment within the shonen formula, which can make things feel "off" compared to what we're used to.
But just look at the main cast in One-piece or Boruto, the main CSM cast look underdesigned by comparison
Csm doesn't feel very different imo. Denji is definitely the most interesting part about it though.
