Something spiking and then returning to its normal range is completely within normal volatility. Of course people would off load when there’s a 20% appreciation and the cards are moving.
This is exactly why I was totally okay with selling my collection when things peaked because I knew things were gonna drop, now I can rebuy my collection at a huge profit lol
Nice to sell at peak but you never know when it will start dropping you just have to guess .Peaks and valleys they will go back up its the way it goes!

The price changes don't really affect me since I don't intend to sell and the absolute cost of paying 10-20% more on some cards isn't that significant, but it's weird I was part of that wave without realizing it
I remember just a month ago I left a comment saying that your videos were too hyping up the SWSH era pumps and may hurt people financially buyi ng in at that time, and that time has now come just a month later with the dump. To your credit you do care about the community and calmed down on reporting the pumps afterwards! Hope not many collectors were hurt by the annual spring alt art pump and dump - sucks that market manipulators always trick so many every year and profit while legit fans get hurt by the cycle 😢
One thing I think that could be important to those that like to collect a lot of cards as a collector. They can be found in psa 9 for very close to a raw copy and if your worried about your cards condition over time I think it maybe wise to look at graded psa 9s for that card.

The hype pumps around spring and summer when people get their tax returns back and cards shows/conventions start. Then, when winter hits and everyone needs money for the end of the year, that's usually the best time to buy. Atleast thats what I've noticed

Danny, you're such a legend. Thank you for your constant contribution to the community. Personally, am quite keen on shrouded fable. (I really like the promos from it...) But, there are also quite a number of cards in the set that look amazing too! (Cresselia, Zorua, looking at you two first.)
I don't know why people are surprised? back 10 years ago. the TCG sets had like 120 cards, the special sets always had like 40-70 cards in them. these days each set has like 170+ cards and then some even have 50+ SECRET rare cards... like honestly its a joke. the "pull rates" are skewed because theres so many cards. I dont know about you guys but i'd prefer opening half the amount of packs & getting most of my base set. then having to possibly buy 1-10 singles to finish my set. this keeping those rare singles actually valuable? like look at some current sets. their alternate art cards are worth under $3.......... now go find any card predated 2005 thats rare & worth $3? even back in 2005 they used to cost more..... Current market dictates that if you want to complete a set, you will either pay HUNDREDS and hundreds of dollars to complete it. usually $1000 plus & if you wanted to open the said master set from packs yourself, we all know you can easily spend 2000-3000 dollars on sealed products to rip open. now tell me how that makes sense.

I was lucky enough to pull 2 of the alt at espeon. My knowledge of the prices (in Australia was only $50) now I’ve learnt it was over $100 US but still sitting at $90 😮 im pretty chuffed with that 😅
The Espeon vmax? That card shot up to nearly $350 (USD) in late May-early June. I snagged one on an ebay live auction around that time, luckily I grabbed it for a fairly reasonable price. It's currently down to around $250ish or a tad below. Almost wish I immediately just flipped it...I could've made an easy $125-150 if I did that 😂 but I really just want to keep it in my collection for the time being anyways. If it shoots way up down the road, maybe I'll consider letting it go.
I wish I sold some of my alt cards I have multiples of. It would've been good financially to take advantage of the bubble. I love collecting and ripping packs but it really is a black hole for me financially because I never sell anything, hahaha.

Looking at the lunineon it doesn't appear it takes the percentage from the highest point rather the beginning date otherwise it should be in the negative but it was plus 12%
And that is why I'm more into sealed stuff right now. Sure I do miss 15 alt arts for SV151, pretty much all for ES but those are the most expensive ones. So I'll await the restock/reprint in september/october and then pretend to pick some up during November once the SV151 restock is done/dusted.
This was super hard to see coming. Raw modern cards have literally NEVER sold for over $150 from any set within 3 years of release other than the Hidden Fates Charizard, and that was still borderline influenced by all the covid relief money in 2020 when it first hit $300+ raw. Folks, the economy is crashing, every asset is crashing in value simultaneously. I know because I buy and sell items that pertain to a couple dozen hobbies and industries. All crashing at the same time. Pokemon will fall 90% more and then homes and stock will as well. Save your cash and get ready for mass layoffs and the most difficult time since the 1930s. It WILL be worse than 2008. All the math is worse.
There is definitely some warning signs across asset classes. Lots of people with their head in the sand right now. That said, I think we are a long way from being able to call a 1930’s style depression.

Yeah I've seen about 1.8k in drops as well but it doesn't bother me. I collect for fun, getting valuable cards or pulling them is just a bonus.
