@@t.leanne88 hey! I’m not currently adding any new plants to my house bc I’m just maxed out on what I’m able to care for, but I do have a plant shop thefoliagefix.com I have one last big restock for this growing season going live tomorrow afternoon (:
My biggest regret is spending so much money on nodes for “rare” plants that just die. And a couple years later you can buy the plants for less than what I paid for the nodes 😅
Biggest beginner mistake of mine: buying plants (hello calatheas!) without looking into their care needs and whether or not I can / am willing to meet them.😌 Over time I realized what grows and thrives in the conditions I can provide / am willing to provide and I only introduce plants that I've read into enough to know that they would be OK with my set up. ☺
My biggest regret is buying many of the same plants just because I find each of the plant's unique variegations beautiful (example: Monstera Albo). Since I've been watching your channel, it has helped me to only keep plants that don't bring me additional stress! It's not something that everyone encourages you to do, but you did and I'm so grateful for that.
@@brainrottedindividual Surprises can be fun. I have over 300 plants and limited room. Not knowing if I like how the plant grows has gone against me a couple times. but I give my plants away so someone enjoys them.
Hi Harli, I do really understand plant care more and more every year. I know when some of my plants don't get enough good light it does make them unhappy and they might die unless you can get plant grow lights. I got those mealy bugs this year for the first time ever and I still could not figure out why I got them and they killed some of my Hoya and my pretty lipstick plant. I have been treating them and luckily they have been dieing and the plants that had them are doing so much better. I also love cutting some of my Pothos that have super long stems and then propagating them and then sharing a potted plant with my bestie. Thanks so much Harli for another great video and I have been learning what plants not to get if I don't have the best spot to place them. Okay have a beautiful rest of your day and have some good rest, sending love and hugs, bye! 😂🥰😘💕💜💜💜💜💜
I’m glad I started with succulents because grow lights were a game changer for me. I regret not knowing how large some plants could get before getting so many that go large, hello Philodendrons and moss pole epiprenum
I appreciate you sharing this❤ Biggest regret was buying too many so quickly. Then the struggle of where to put it and not factoring the light needs for it. I still struggle with plant decor/arrangement in home. Especially after bringing some of them back inside from our screened in patio. I've now sold/given some away to downsize my collection. It can definitely feel overwhelming/stressful, especially when I plan to be away for several days.
I feel like this video is so relatable for everyone 😅 I personally can relate with every single one. The amount of times I've been stubborn with wanting a plant that I like the look of knowing full well I can't provide the conditions it requires and it's just makes things stressful and not fun (defeats the purpose) The light thing is a big factor for me. A lot of people who feel like they are just not good at keeping plants alive, they probably are cause plant don't even really need us especially if they have enough light
My biggest regret is spending so much money on plants when the prices have dropped sooo much now, so I sold my Thai constellation and monsters aurea (both together) for $165 when I paid that much for the aurora alone.. 😮 but I did sell a couple of cuttings off it for $80 a pop so… meh…
I have similar regrets. Got most of my plants during Covid because I was home and went from 5 to over a hundred within a year. I have been debating adding grow lights and now you have me convinced.
My regret is not figuring out a soil mix that works for me and my needs before buying more plants. Edit to add, also regretting not using clear pots to see root growth and watering needs. Then using a cover pot that’s heavier.
Harli, can you tell me what are your favorite grow lights? Some that I could clip on edge of shelf.y two least favs are the pink striped calathea and my zebra plant. Just no making them happy. Also my Philodendron Birkin is not the prettiest stem wise. It is happy but not so pretty.
I used to kill literally every single plant I bought... so much $ wasted. I finally decided that I wouldn't spend any more $ on plants until I could prove to myself that I could grow "free" plants (cuttings and "baby" plants from friends!). I have made so many friends in the plant community- such happy, friendly people! And now I go to a local plant swap, where no money is exchanged, only swaps, and it's SO FUN!!!
I got into collecting plants more this year and I have been buying like crazy. I finally slowed down because if I get anymore I will definitely have no space. I just got more into carnivorous plants too. I had to get me a wishlist plant for my birthday though. “Just one more.” Everything is fine. 😂
I am still relatively a new plant parent (since June-ish 2024) so no regrets yet. I already killed though. The victim... bird of paradise. Weapon... overwatering. I have a new bird of paradise since (actually there were two plants in a pot so buy one get one free 😍). Equipped with tons of information as well as experience under my belt and 7 weeks in my care... both plants are loving their life living in nutrition solution (they will go to leca eventually). One plant's leaf unfurled a week back or so. The other plant is in the process of growing a new leaf. The roots look amazing. I am happily patting myself on the back 😊
I regret buying from one of those bidding sites. The price ends up being too high, but you get caught up in it so you pay too much & sometimes they’ll send an unrooted plant that dies. You may as well, just set the cash on fire. Similar feeling I would imagine.
I have a question so I put my Thai constellation into Leca and now the Leca has mold on it. How do I prevent that from happening and how do I get rid of it?
Oh no! I’m honestly not sure, I know there’s a lot that has to go into cleaning and rinsing leca but I’ve personally never tried it so I’m not sure what the process there is
I am so bad for just impulsively binge buying plants. I got a lot better at not doing it this year, but I have absolutely no room and probably like 300 plants
Maybe 5 years ago, I bought a beautiful succulent at put it in the bathroom with NO natural light 😂 it started looking sad, so I gave it some water. It looked more sad, so I gave it more water and still NO natural light - I gave it water everyday and thought “Why won’t you be happy you st@pid plant?”. Needless to say, the poor thing died in less than two weeks and I swore that I would never buy plants again 😂 Luckily, I have learned a lot since then and I have a lot of plants thriving - but I am still scared of buying a succulent like the one i killed 😅

I do that on occasion. I just unboxed ten plants yesterday. Three different sellers. I just discovered Palm street. That’s dangerous for me.
I still never quarantine the plants… luckily It has yet to be an issue, will keep praying that it never will!
Buying babies before looking up their adult versions up to see if I would like them forever!
