Hey Shane, always nice of you to cover German speakers! Elac has the fs287.2 out now and they are even better and more refined! And they have the new jet 6 tweeter. Hope you can review these too in the future. Greetings from Germany👍
I have the old ELACs FS247, CC241 and BS244. I’ve been enjoying them for years now. Last year I bought my first separates (Arcam AV41 and PA720) which took them to a whole new level. Especially for music 🙌🏽 The FS247 also has Amazing bass for it’s size 💪🏽 Thnx for everything Shane! Greetings from the Netherlands
In 2023 I watched your review with Bill of the GoldenEar BRX and love thin-film AMT ribbon tweeter speaker (I've auditioned the Wisdom Audio with planar ribbon too). I love them so much that I bought a 3rd one as the center speaker for the home theater for matching LCR. source=Apple Music lossless
I have the elac solano bookshelf and they always amaze me even the bass considering only 5.5 inch woofer, using them in a small room not sure what they do in a big room, I do use a sub to take some of the load off them I think allows the woofer produce cleaner bass above 100hz when it doesn't have to drop down so low
Oh shit I didn't see this one coming. I just purchased some Carinas, still waiting for them to arrive (same tweeter). I am eager to finally have a listen.
Almost bought the Elac Sub 1225, ported 12" subwoofer when it was $199 on Amazon, but so happy I paid $299 for the OSD Trevoce 12. I like Elac as it's a local Orange County business and I can pick up in person if want to. Might buy some Towers later on.
Elac makes great speakers. However, although the speakers can go to 50,000 hz, no person on earth can hear above 20,000 hz. And to be more technical, really only babies and animals, such as dogs, can hear to 20,000 hz..By the time you get to your 20s, you overall can not even hear much past 17,000 or 18,000 hz. In your 40s and 50s, you are losing full hearing, and the average person can not hear above 15,000 hz at older ages past their mid 40s. Any ear, nose, and throat doctor gives hearing tests to prove this, and you can put on a pair of decent headphones and run sound tone tests to prove this. I am constantly baffled at why any speaker manufacturer would even make this a feature knowing what the facts are about hearing. Other than that, nice speakers. But if the price is boosted because of a tweeter that is inflated way beyond human hearing, I could not recommend them. By the way, records/vinyl goes to 15,000 hz, and pretty much all sound you can hear and that truly matters is within that range anyway. Although CDs went to 20,000 hz and were more crystal clear and dynamic to me, all general sound falls within 20-15,000 Hz.
Then why do these sound different? We can hear through skin conduction, hair follicle conduction, bone conduction. Hearing is not done only the ear canal.
You have much to learn. The upper harmonics above your used to be 20khz (which is lower now because of your age), will bleed down into the treble region you can hear. Like the air and decay your ears are picking up in the treble. So that's why they spec it. But thanks for speaking like a true keyboard warrior that understands absolutely nothing about audio yet thinks he does.
@dicmccoy - I beg to differ. People who talk the way you do and use terms like "keyboard warrior" are a troll. I speak facts from experience, data, research, and ENT doctors performing hearing tests throughout each person's age ranges. You are one of those people who like to talk down to others like a child without listening or common sense and facts which have been well known for decades. My post wasn't a debate, but a statement. Learn the difference before you waste your time.
@@ernies8828 there was nothing factual about your comment other than human hearing stops at 20khz. You were mainly complaining about manufacters listing a spec above 20khz because you don't understand how audio works. You sir are the troll with your original comment. So let's agree to disagree that you actually know what you're talking about.
@@dicmccoy - everything I said were facts. There is absolutely no reason for ANY speaker driver to create a driver that even claims to go beyond human hearing. You are a troll. I know all about how audio is with human hearing and how it's supposed to work. I can not believe how idiotic people are. I'm not here to argue.

Elac speakers are fantastic. I have the Andrew Jones Elac Debut 2.0 F6.2s, and they hit way above their price. I can imagine how good these are.

They're great speakers!
Nice! And the bottom woofer is low passed high enough to not cause phase issues when crossing over to subwoofers unlike some other 2.5 way designs

Solano they have a FS287.2 version of this Solano speaker
These are still great and cheaper.
elac is very good
Why compare this to a speaker that costs 3 times as much ?
To show that it can hang with speakers that cost three times as much.
