This was a good game! Ppl forget how talented and deep that Orlando team was... How lean and mobile young Shaq was, how much talent young Penny had, how he controlled games with his great scoring, athletic ability and elite level facilitating! The Pacers of the the mid 90's to the early 2000's we're a sleeper team in the East as well....
All it took is a Phil Jackson to remove "the sweep curse" and turned him into a "sweeper" particularly in 2001 Playoffs. Then again, it is more fun for Shaq's teams to get swept. In his 1994-1999 appearances, all were elimination by sweeps except 1997.
@@DJVijilante Nick van Gundy? Is that intentional? It should be "Jeff", right? (Unless the former NYK coach legally changed his name without one's knowledge.)
@@DJVijilante Ok I see. I thought there's another person I don't know manning the broadcast, as an "intermittent" NBA follower for almost two (2) decades. Apologies should my comment sounded brash or abrasive. It is more of being curious, tbh.
Oh, this is turned out the Pacers' first Playoff series win since transferring from ABA in 1976. And this run would have been more. They were a win away to reach the NBA Finals, even held a 3-2 lead. Thanks for the info.
I knew Shaq's Playoff years with Orlando were elimination by sweeps, but what I missed in 1994 was the Magic had a higher seed opposite Indiana. That Pacers' win as a lower seed was sweet, but it would be more sweeter as they were one win shy to reach 1994 NBA Finals. Ugh, another what if against Houston. An "on fire" Reggie can be too hot to handle, capable of big time wins.
This was the first playoff series win in Pacers history so this was a big deal. Unfortunately the Magic got the Pacers back in the following year in the Eastern Conference Finals in 1995.
Can you upload the pacers magic ecf 1995 series I can't find one complete highlight it's always one sided or the whole game please if you accept requests
That was alot of threes shot lol i love it when o already know what happened back then cause i lived it and they say oh jordan didnt shoot 3s cause they didnt focus on it.
Magic was too young and inexperienced, they used this series as a learning experience and had to figure things out. That's why they signed Horace Grant because of his playoff experience
Indiana was pretty good that year, balanced inside/outside attack. Their frontline depth during this era was consistent and generally underrated. This was Orlando’s first playoffs together, naturally needed more time to grow as a unit (hence the 1995 East finals rematch)

Similar to the heat now not really but they surprised me on multiple occasions
There you go, bruth, now that's kind of a greatest games of the NBA.
The Magic/Pacers quick 1st round series in 1994 was a preseason scrimmage compared to 1995's 7 game war in the ECF.
I loved my mid to late 90s Pacers
Back when basketball was pure.
Shaq’s first time getting swept in his playoff career.
The first of many times too lol, still shout out to the legend SHAQ
Shaq was swept every year of the 90s except for 1997

@@TRJ2241987 97 was a gentleman sweep by Jazz. Then in 98 Jazz ain't gentle no more.
What round put in context make it seem 1dt round
Rick Smits was having a game himself. Perfect jumpers.
Reggie is an 👽.
Thanks for the highlight, Reggie was so good in the playoffs! I think his defense was under appreciated.
👍 heres another Pacers Magic classic if you havent seen it already: ruclips.net/video/WdBggYn-YtU/видео.html
Shaq & Penny were a COMBO to fuk with😤😤💯💯🏀🏀
Vern Lundquist and Hubie Brown- they should’ve teamed up more back in the day.
they did three playoff games for CBS in 1987 and 1988 and Hubie is still active at 90 years old
And now we are stuck with guys like Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson.

Pacers first NBA playoff series win after 18 years which came after they brought in a fellow ABA alum in Larry Brown

Orlando never recovered after that game 1 loss when Byron Scott hit the late 3

Why did the Magic lose in the first round
Most will point to lack of experience, but the real problem was they couldn't matchup with the Pacers big frontline they were overmatched at PF.
