I read Ghaalib since I was 14 but never understood him the way I understand him after listening him sung by Jagjit Singh. In my opinion together with Gulzar, Jagjit Singh gave a new birth to Ghaalib. Thank you Jagjit Singh for your service to people of love Urdu.

Thanks Rajabhai for uploading this. I had it in 1991 in audio cassette form which was destroyed before I could copy. Now I am sure that after my death, my soul will go to Parlok. Without listening these I would become GHost and would keep scaring other singers.

Bhai kya bekaar ki baaton mein waqt zaya kar rahe ho. Ghalib was once in history poet and Jagjit once in many generations singer. Both were great, but if you insist on comparing Ghalib was the pinnacle of his art while about Jagjit not many will agree he was the greatest singer ever, not even greatest ghazal singer. And niether of them depended on the other for their popularity. Ghalib was already the greatest urdu poet even JS sang him and JS was already a household name before he sang in the Mirza ghalib serial.

Dozens of famous singers like K.L.Sehgal, Talat Mahmood Surayya, Noor Jahan and many others (Hindus, Muslims, Christians) sang his ghazals and did their part of devotion. However, Sohrab Modi, Gulzar Sahab and Jagjeet Singh (all great artists in their own right) paid their homage to Ghalib and Ghalib became a household name of our time too.

Ghalib Jagjit Gulzar all mastereo. But in my opinion without all those sajindes (musicians) this great compilation would have been meaningless. Salute to all unknown musicians in this work.
Thanks Rajabhai for uploading this. I had it in 1991 in audio cassette form which was destroyed before I could copy. Now I am sure that after my death, my soul will go to Parlok. Without listening these I would become GHost and would keep scaring other singers.
He becomes ONE with Ghalib here. This is paranormal. It's singing beyond and above the earthly level. Ghalib missed him to express himself and pundit Shri Jagjit Singh ji needed him to take his singing to sublimation.

jagjeet stands apart in his class many other singers have sung ghalib but the way of jagjeet sir is best and remains uniqe among all Indian and pakistani singers...waseem barelavi sais absolutely correct that had galib heard singing jagjeet sir galib's kalaam galib would have come in the world again..I sisten only jagjeet sir since1989 ...I attended three concerts and i am the eye witness of the magic of Maestro and God of ghazal...none other but jagjeet sir

Bhai kya bekaar ki baaton mein waqt zaya kar rahe ho.
Ghalib was once in history poet and Jagjit once in many generations singer.
Both were great, but if you insist on comparing Ghalib was the pinnacle of his art while about Jagjit not many will agree he was the greatest singer ever, not even greatest ghazal singer.
And niether of them depended on the other for their popularity. Ghalib was already the greatest urdu poet even JS sang him and JS was already a household name before he sang in the Mirza ghalib serial.
+Avinash Pandey Mirza Ghalib is (not was) a great literary philosopher poet. Several generations read him in our school/college course books. Dozens of famous singers like K.L.Sehgal, Talat Mahmood Surayya, Noor Jahan and many others (Hindus, Muslims, Christians) sang his ghazals and did their part of devotion. However, Sohrab Modi, Gulzar Sahab and Jagjeet Singh (all great artists in their own right) paid their homage to Ghalib and Ghalib became a household name of our time too.
