  • In this LearnElectrics video we will look at some assessment tips and methods on validating R1 + R2 for ring circuits and proving that the Zs measurements that you have made are acceptable.
The ability to do this, to validate your test results, is an essential skill for any good electrician and understanding what you are doing is so important, especially if you are approaching the end of an apprenticeship and looking forward to a career as an electrician.
For example, when completing your AM1 or AM2 or any other training period such as testing and inspection courses or initial verification, you will be required to pass an assessment of your abilities.
The assessor will be deciding things like …
Can this person go on-site on their own and work safely?
Will they complete the allotted work to the required standard?
Are they able to test the circuits and complete the paperwork correctly?
Can they determine if the test results are valid results?
    So this video asks …
Can you validate the R1+R2 values that you have recorded? Do you know what R1+R2 should be?
Can you calculate it and prove that what you have just measured are the correct numbers?
And are you able to talk confidently about the testing procedure and what you have done?
Or do you just write down what the meter displays and hope for the best?
This video will show you the processes and give you some useful assessment tips.

Hi Dave, cheers for that, be good to show how the measured Ze+R1+R2 compares with a measured Zs of the circuit should it be round about correct or can it be influenced by other paths 👍🏼

Go to LearnElectrics.com and put Amendment 2 in the search box. You will get a list of links direct to all the 18th Edition Amendment 2 brown book videos. Good luck with the exams. Watch the videos a couple of times as this reinforces your learning. Its better to watch a couple of videos each night, starting now, than try and cram the week of the exam. Dave.
