Umm, This guy is very knowledgeable. But You do not need to wait 4 years to get your paramedic. EMT is now just that EMT from what my instructor told me there is no more AEMT. To do paramedic you need your NREMT and you can take the classes straight up to become a Paramedic, However, they do require a year of EMT experience whether it be EDA or field.

@@TheJurster Well, it would depend every medic school/program has their requirements some are 3 semesters long some are 7 semesters it all depends on the school the one i am planning to go to is 3 semesters

Do Americans tend to go from EMT to Paramedic? We don't have EMT level in Australia and the pathway to getting your bum on an ambulance seat basically entails 3 years of university. Then you still have a year as an intern before being able to practice paramedicine autonomously.
