@@miku0621 you have to apprentice to get one. The "sword industry" in Japan is super regulated. Licensed smiths can only make 2 a month, you have to apprentice full time for 4 years, stuff like that. Polishing is a 10 year apprenticeship. It's a total pain. :/

@@Tetrahymenajp thank you very mich, its getting better. Your results look really great. Somehow, the steel on my seems brighter than the hamon, but under a bright lamp it is like its supposed to be. Also, the ji somehow became a bit cloudy, some parts are darker than others

I coat the blade with a mixture of clay, charcoal powder and grit powder and quench it. I then dip it in acid (FeCl3) to bring out the pattern.

If I may ask, what materials were used for polishing? I assume the liquid was ferric chloride, but what were the other materials?
Before etching, I polished it with sandpaper (#1000).
After etching, I polished it with Mag & Aluminum Polish (MOTHERS).
