- In 2007, Chris Vaughn was convicted of murdering his wife and 3 kids on the way to a waterpark in illinois. In this video, I visit the location where they were murdered at.

I lived in Channahon when this happened and remember it quite well. He first said he would had pulled over to check how the stuff on top of the van was secured. I had already seen on TV news stations where it happened. First thought in my head was why would you pull into that area where it was so dark to check it? At that time the only thing around that exit was the subdivision, no truck stops, gas stations, anything. The exit right before had places that were lit up which would make more sense to me to check it.
It also turned out he had a girlfriend that he was planning to run off to the wilderness with.
I also heard his family was drugged and slept through his murdering them.
He got arrested at the funeral for his family which I would say was justice well served. Knowing the area and everything, I say he did it.

It just seems when a tragedy like this happens the children always pay , how horribly sad for the wife and those 3 children , but I’m left with WHY??????? How about a divorce , god almighty his kids are gone!!!!!!!!!
Awesome telling of this story, I've been at the murder sight many times and really want to make a better memorial marker for them and I'm still trying to visit their grave

I too take Amitriptyline for chronic migraines. It's an antidepressant. You're suppose to take it at night before bed as it makes you a bit tired and helps those of us with chronic migraines to get a better night's sleep and awake with fewer migraines. I've been taking it for over 20 years and not once did I ever think about taking the life of anyone. If she suffered from any side effects her doctor would know.
I totally agree with you that Chris did it, Harmin. I listened to an absolutely terrible podcast about this called Murder in Illinois, which was completely biased toward Chris being innocent. They interviewed his parents, who just kept bad mouthing Kimberly and her family. They mocked her for being proud of her education. Why is having an education a bad thing?? I’ve been on Topomax for migraines before. It’s prescribed at a very low dose for that. No way it made her kill anyone. That was the only podcast I’ve ever given 1 star to. 😡
Wow that's unbelievable! From everything I've seen, everything (including the evidence and his own interviews at the police station), conclude he did it. Odd that the podcast you watched adamantly claimed otherwise

I find it amazing they all were shot dead except him ! He said she did it, so she had perfect aim on the kids and herself but not him ? I can’t believe the innocent project believes him ! Just heartbreaking, twisted and a miracle her aim on him didn’t hit any vital organs and he limped out for help!

I have taken Topamax for several years and I have never had any problems.

Was there any gunshot residue test ran on the adults? That should be done in the field as soon as possible in cases like that.
I was wondering the same thing. They should of tested both of their hands.
Yes. Kimberly had gunshot residue on both her hands.
I think the police would have done that
The residue gets all over the place if a shooting takes place inside a car so the tests didn't prove anything.

Gunshot residue was on Kimberly's left and right hand and the gun was found between her feet. The location of the gun is consistent with it being dropped straight from above. She's sitting in the seat, the gun is positioned under her chin, she pulls the trigger and it falls straight down to the floor between her feet.
The trajectory of the gunshot under the chin is consistent with a self inflicted gunshot and not someone who would instinctively pull away if someone stuck a loaded gun under their chin. There's no evidence she was grabbed by the hair and controlled before the shot.
She had a contact wound caused by the gunshot, which is consistent with suicide. Over 95% of suicides are contact and not intermediate range.
Blood was on the underside of her forearm, which is consistent with her having pulled the trigger.
Kimberly was taking Topamax, which has been linked to suicidal thoughts and behaviors. The FDA issued a warning in 2009 and suggested people taking Topamax and similar medications be closely monitored for unusual changes and increased depression. Out of the 11 drugs they tested similar to Topamax, Topamax scored the highest for these dangerous side effects. Family members reported her being highly agitated and having panic attacks on a recent family outing, and Kimberly told her doctor she was experiencing anxiety and personality changes since she started taking Topamax.
According to the Illinois State Police investigation, on the last day of school Abigayle told a classmate her mom was hearing thoughts in her head and she was psycho.
The bullet that entered the child's abdomen sitting in the middle of the backseat passed through to the 3rd row seat. By using a dowel rod, its trajectory was proved consistent with it being fired from where Kimberly was seated. Following that trajectory, a laser pointer was later used by a firearm expert to show how the shooter turned in the passenger seat and fired the shot.
In most murder/suicides involving parents and children, the mother is the perpetrator. It is believed the act of killing their children is an extension of the suicide in order to protect them from the world.

Geez, what a beautiful family. It just doesn’t make sense. What a horrible tragedy. I would understand if he had killed himself. People get depressed and can’t find anything to live for. But, how could anyone look their innocent babies in the eyes and harm them?! It just doesn’t seem possible, yet it’s almost common anymore😢. Thanks for sharing this one with us Harmin. At least the ones in my family of women that have been in DV relationships or marriage and drilled it into our children the signs to look for and run do not walk away from the relationship.
IDk.. you’d be amazed at how many ppl are prescribed mood stabilizers & antidepressants, & how many start to envision themselves doing shit like that or driving off a bridge, when they weren’t necessarily feeling depressed.

When there are 4 people with lethal bullet wounds and 1 with non lethal bullet wounds the survivor is usually either the murderer or part of the murders.
