      I like seeing old people being productive too, I'm 56 and I see young people doing much more than the older generations at times. Lol, it's all dependent on personality . Although people always like to "other"/kick down at others because they think they are elevating themselves that way. Many times we assume we know everything that others are doing or not doing, I work with my hands a lot (and they are starting to hurt) , but there is nothing wrong with having a creative mind...don't necessarily need to produce a hard copy for judgmental people to see, that's just a materialistic mentality.

    Stain then entire box, even the edges and back. It's not treated wood and will last 1-2 seasons at most. Even the parts no one will see will swell up with water and the wood fibers will rip apart as freezes set in. Mice like batteries. Throw mothballs into a mesh bag and throw inside your battery box. A mouse only needs a hole the size of a dime to get in.

    Great Job Kids. I have been watching since Texas invaded the territory and the natives were up in arms. On installing your batteries under the solar panels - W = I x E For the same power, the higher the voltage the lower the current. If you install everything at the solar panels then the wire to the house will be the smallest for the same power because of the higher voltage much like the power company. They run about 20,000 volts to your house and give you 220 volts. Keep up the good work.

    • @CantContainUs
      @CantContainUs  10 месяцев назад

      That's exactly why the panels are the long distance run, they're 10amps at 450v. If everything was under the panels I would've needed bigger wire cause it would be 120v at sometimes 40 amps

    if I was yall I'd do Cody's shop, then the A frame, then any sort of addition. So that way you can stay in the A frame if you have any major floor plan changes you need to do. It also gives you a place for guests if you need extra hands to wrap up the addition if there is a time crunch. It's wild how far you have come. I'd also consider making two bedrooms in the A frame, one that's a typical primary and one that is a bunk room since you have nieces and nephews that might come visit.

  • @patchmack4469
    @patchmack4469 10 месяцев назад

    i love all container home builds, they set a lot of challenges, some easy and some less so - an initial idea i had was with one single lonely tall container, a forty by nine footer, it would have the solar panels on top, perhaps with a new roof so they are mounted sloped into the sun (afternoon challenges) i always considered the walls to have cut outs for windows, patio style etc, but no doors - the end of the container has two already, as the right generally opens first this would contain a small internal or external porch and front entry door with the container door open, perhaps closable for additional security, the left hand door would open to reveal a cupboard space to occupy the services whether these be external supplies or off grid, batteries, electrics, plumbing, behind that might be set the bathroom, wc etc
    but having watched many builds now, i do love the ideas as you have demonstrated so well to have patio space to double your living area, but i also considered having a dug out into a hill side, say two to three containers in width, with a surrounding gabion style wall, part could be enclosed to house a work area, alternate position for services, electrics and plumbing, wood storage, and or large size garage, the single container mounted above at the hill side and the patio coming out over the space below - but i think what ever decisions are made, need thinking through in advance and having the foresight to be able to adapt and overcome especially when the need to expand comes along especially like yourselves as young couple may wish to work on having a family together - one couple i have watched and love dearly built their home, looking fabulous, near luxurious with a great roof and had their first child, and neatly added a small bedroom, now they have a second and soon to have their third, and all i keep thinking is, next container, new wing onto the build - unless these are thought through, the home could end up a mix match between the existing and additions, having to make some effective decisions on the roofing designs
    of course the general answer might be to add containers one above the other, canter lever etc, which are all well and good but you need a home that can be seasonally cooled and heated, provide space for stairs etc and have adequate insulation, internal, externally and not forgetting below - but i have also considered containers being semi-subterranean which i know is fraught with problems of weight distribution, this again can be overcome by carefully placed gabion walls with a space between the gabion and container for a foam insulation, basically the container would be suspended in a space partially surrounded by gabion with very little covering or containers mounted above in a canter lever way - its just like building with the good old Lego bricks, billions of solutions and opportunities - sorry that was long
    liking the battery box, but could you have made longer (i know more material) to contain the inverter, just a thought, just needs some life size images of chucks on the outside so it looks like a chicken battery, see what i did there! gulp!

    For your solar system when you go onto the deck, have you considered building it into furniture. A day bed or table and chairs. Stack batteries in set of 8 two high giving table height and put inverter in the back of a high back bench seat. Just a thought and that way not just a box.

    Nice job,
    U have to have batteries as close as possible to Your inverter, as well as panels would be better to have closer to inverter. But the House can be further from that.
    So the best setup would be Panels , betteries and inverter next to each other, and the load (your house) can be little bit further, cause usually it is it is the AC side, and with proper wiring and braker switch it will be fine.
    But of course I know, that now it is a lot of work to be done to that.
    HOW ever NICE WORK,

    First of all congratulations on getting married!
    Your house is really coming along thanks to all your hard work. Good job on the box Cody. The stain makes it look nicer too Summer. I agree the house looks better with the stairs moved. Wooden stairs will be perfect.

    Why don't you guys get like a 20 quick shipping container and put on the back of your house? That way, you could put the batteries inside there. You're converter in there any water treatment system in there plus an extra tank to hold water for you guys. Any tools or anything so you don't have to leave. A mouth could be shortened there plus An area for your firewood to be put inside there more inside the shipping container like a 20 footer. That way, they could stay dry more and you could put more inside so it would weather out in dry faster ready to use sooner.

    Congratulations on your marriage. I love watching you guys! Slanting the top will let rain etc. run off.Summer please take off your ring, you don’t want to get stuff on or under the diamond. It won’t sparkle as well.

    Cody was not buying another ring lmbo. Also I would put some hydraulic cylinders on the lid to hold it up when you need to work on it.

    Get a small container and set it parallel to the two containers once you have money to invest.
