- I am 16, Stuck Here in Quarantine - Covid 19 parody song of Sixteen, Going on Seventeen. Poor Liesl from Sound of Music is desperate to get out and socialise, but the pandemic has thwarted her. What's a hormonal, social young girl to do?
Thank you to Joey Nasser for singing Rolf's part.

Congratulations once again, Shirley. "The Moana hills are alive with the sound of music. The songs Shirley writes will last for years..."
Thank you!
@ please can you make a reprise of 16 stuck in a quarantine,a parody of 16 going on 17 reprise?
@ yes please do!
What Sound of Music song hasn't been parodied for this virus, yet? Save for Edelweiss, that one is too sacred in light of another recent loss. RIP, Christopher Plumer.
There's a few left still, but I only tackle one when I feel the inspiration.
Omg been waiting all day and it was soooo worth it! It is the best yet, glorious!
Yay! So glad you enjoyed it!
Wow, Joey does a great job singing the teenager Rolf's part. Great lyrics too. 😊
Fortunately for teenagers in my part of the USA, vaccination is now open for anyone 16 and older, and for everyone of all ages by May 1. There does seem to be light at the end of this long dark Covid tunnel.
He does, doesn’t he? And yes, may the light at the end of this tunnel shine ever brighter!
Thanks, that's really sweet of you to say!
One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite films, and these new lyrics are perfect! It was Shirley's first Sound of Music pandemic retakes a year ago that first led me to this wonderful channel. (If you haven't seen those yet, they are still worth a watch.)
Thanks so much, Gary. Yes, that first Maria song is what led me to this channel too - before then, I just used RUclips as a spectator, not a participant. It's been so much fun!
Shirley - You just keep getting better and better, which seems impossible since you are already A+++!
That’s lovely of you - thank you!
This is my favourite song from The Sound of Music. Thanks again Shirley. How about Chitty Bang Bang and The ashes of disaster grow the roses of success?
Thank you, Dr. Mark. I’ve considered Chitty Chitty Bang Bang before, but not that song. I had to have a listen again to remind myself of it! I wish I could imitate male voices a lot better - that’s what makes it a challenge for me in tracks like that.
Yes, silly me. Didnt think of that!
Covid bang bang covid covid bang bang
Can’t wait 😄
😍
@ Not disappointed 😄
Once again, you outdid yourself, Shirley 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
So well thought out. Follows your re-lyricing guidelines to the letter 👍🏻
Thank you!
Shirley Serban
I can't wait!!
Blessings from California
Not too long to go!
Honestly, who would dislike this. All thumbs up! Fabulous as always.
You're lovely - thank you!
I live less than an hour from Oscar Hammerstein's country home in what is no longer in a country setting. Before COVID-19, I went to that area twice a month for a club meeting that is now on Zoom. I love what you have done with his songs from "The Sound of Music", and I hope he is appreciating it from wherever he is. I am also not too far from Philadelphia, which, like San Francisco, has a street called Grant Avenue. Tonight we had takeout food from a restaurant on Grant Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A., which is my relyricing of a line from a song from another Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, "Flower Drum Song".
I would be so happy to know if anyone involved in the originals has been enjoying their relyricings. I do hope they have.
Another great song parody, Shirley. The Sound of Music was my mother's favorite movie. I wish I could share this with her.
Thank you, Kelly. I'm sorry you can't. 😔
They are brilliant, these songs from " The sound of music"...the words match so well with the music...can't get enough of them...congrats to all the people who worked for these...
Thank you, Meg. I really enjoy making these!
So funny! So clever! So true!
Another one you hit out of the park!😍
Thank you!
I felt so so sorry for kids in the lockdown, this screams their experiences so so much Xxxxx
Same.
Love sound of music great video
It's one of my favourite movies - maybe you can tell!
My 16 yr old turns 17 in 2 days. What a ride this has been. She will be entering grade 12 in the fall and at this point grade 9 is the only full yr she has spent in high school. The grade 10 was interrupted halfway and has been remote online learning with some cohort in-class learning.
Shirley is such a wonderful talent with these songs! Enjoyed this one. Laughed when the line about Moderna and Pfizer came up. Sounded funny with the video. Thank you!
Thank you, Tunde! Glad you enjoyed it.
Bless. 😂👏👏👏👏
😆
Very good!!!!!!! Had big smile on my face the whole song through!!!!!!! You are dam good keep up the good work!!!!😁😇😊
Thanks so much, Anna!
Very cute!
Excellent
👍
Thank you!
Awesome! 😂
Imagine..in Argentina we were keeping a 2 years quarantine...
You are awesome !!! I have just discovered you and I'll be watching your videos from now on...
Thank you, Celia!
Brilliant
Thank you
wow, another fabulous performance from yourself and from Joey.
I actually think this is now for young and old.... oops and those in between.... for everyone stuck at home who is single...
'Tis been hard on everyone worldwide... not being able to touch anyone other than who is inside their homes during each and every lockdown. For those living alone.... it is especially hard... talking to I, Me & myself.... and then I argueing back to myself when Me awaits the wrath of I....
yep it has been a touch year... all round and Shirley YOU have helped ease it all with all your brilliant songs. *BRAVO*
Thanks so much, Andrea.
This is great Shirley I love all your sound of music Parodys because this is my favorite movie musical
Thank you, Chase The pup! It's my favourite movie musical as well - can you tell?!
@ yea
A other brilliant performance
Thank you!
The "I'm yearrrrning" part made me laugh.
Can you do feed the birds from mary Poppins and the place where lost things go from mary Poppins returns
I've not seen Mary Poppins returns. I've considered Feed the Birds before and have it tucked away for if the right occasion arises. Thanks for the request! 😁
Cameron is right! Where the lost things go, like hugs, family dinners, potlucks at Church or with the hobby clubs, barbeques w the neighbors, friends and family, used masks in the store parking lots (car parks), actually seeing your doctors in person, learning to cut your own kids' or pet's hair... ?
Read the old childrens' book, "Where the Wild Things Grow/Go (?)".
Voice over with a few word changes? Would be hysterical!
Great realistic representation of a young woman's needs.
Thanks so much!
Sans patience? Watch this vid!
thanks for the positivity. Much needed patience
Thank you! 😁
Another great one:). Thank you, Shirley:). This should be played by parents of teenagers to lift their children's confidence:).
Thank you, Barbara. I'm not sure how many teens are familiar with this movie nowadays though!
Most definitely!!!!!!!!!!
0:49 How dare you assume I'm not socially awkward?
🤪
@ Seriously though, when will Covid-19 be over? It's been so long...
@@acesinger6092 It may never be completely over - but I have hope that we will have it under control soon. Oh, I do hope that's the case!
Brilliant....
Thank you!
lol this is better than the original ty
Great vocals!!! And of course the lyrics... It's already 2022 but... This made my Saturday morning 😊
I'm so glad - thanks, hyt.
That was amazing
AWESOME!!
Thanks!!
👍👍❤️ Shirley.
Can't wait till you've completed the full songbook for Sound of Music.
Then we can watch and hear the whole musical/movie in wide screen panavision and...
*SHIRLEYMAX SMILEAUDIO*
...the new standard in superb listening pleasure. 🔊✅👋🤗👋
Ha - I fear that I'm destroying the movie for myself and others to watch in the original way again!!
@ have no fear. The original is bigger and more robust than anyone can mess with. Your homages are in keeping with the times we are living through, so proceed with your quest... and we will all applaud.
Nice reinterpretation of the popular musical.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow a duet from our Shirl an Joey..Love it...
Sweet!
Thank you!
👍🏻
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
❤️😘
(.....Hope your right about the vaccines 🤞🏻)
Oh, me too!!!
Would have liked to see the whole song.
Wow, you both sound almost the same as the original singers. Such beautiful voices. Please can you both sing people will say we’re in love from Oklahoma but in the style of Platters. I liked how the Platters sung it.
Thank you! I actually am not familiar with the Oklahoma musical. Must watch it some time.
Not me singing along alone in my room. 😶
Belt it out! Enjoy! 🎵
Very nice song parody. Can't wait for the rest. :)
Thanks, Sean. I'm getting to the end of the Sound of Music songs, but there are plenty of others in store!
South Pacific has some good songs that could stand new lyrics. Now I'm starting to get ideas.
Go for it! I'd love to see what you come up with.
@ Will do.
Another fantastic show!! Thank you for something to smile and laugh about during this pandemic!
Thank you, Carolyn, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you once again for another great parody. Sometimes I think you missed your true calling in show business. 😉
Thank you, Kirk. I'm happy with this just being my hobby. I feel that my 'day job' is my true calling, which I love.
Always fascinating! Congratulations. Always great and educational.
Thank you so much, Rosa!
Very good ,not sure about 2022 though 😁
Wow!!!! Great lyrics Shirley!!!! Loved it 💗
Thanks so much!!
love it, another gem
Thank you so much!
Shirley Serban
I love your channel.
You & quest outstanding performance
Belated Happy Easter
Blessings from California
Thank you, Barbara.
Liesl, you've got to stop grabbing Rolf like that. Do you want to spread the virus around? (snickers)
😆
Another excellent "The Sound Of Music" covid parody of yours, I love it! I actually had a covid parody idea of my own for this song last year but I couldn't come up with any lyrics anywhere near as witty and clever as yours, though I did attempt writing it from a 16 year old girl's point of view and how she wasn't a fan of having her birthday party on Zoom lol. 😄 I'm glad this song got the proper covid parody treatment it deserves, your talent never ceases to amaze me! 🙌👏
Thanks so much, Didrick. I do feel for the more social ones, especially teens, who have had to cope with being at home. (For more introverted people like me, it's a dream though!)
@ Yeah very true, I'm an introvert too and the periods of lockdown we've had here in my city in Bergen (Norway) so far haven't really affected me that much and when I'm told to limit the amount of people I see on a daily basis, I gladly oblige! 😁👍 Though I do miss concerts, cinemas and similar events and hopefully the vaccines can make it possible to enjoy those things again in the near future.
You never cease to amaze me Shirley. Another brilliant parody. Due to listening to much music recently, I thought George Michael's 'Outside' would be appropriate but matching his vocals is the toughest job of all. If that's too hard you could try Neil Diamonds 'Hello Again'. Whatever you do, I'll love it. Kris.🇦🇺
Thank you, Kris. I must admit that I'm not familiar with Outside or Hello Again - I know - sorry! I must look them up, though their unfamiliarity to me, combined with being male-sung songs will probably mean I won't cover them. I tend to do ones that I know inside out from childhood. But, that could always change, I guess!
@ I just thought with titles like Outside and Hello again, they would suit COVID perfectly. I've always loved George Michael for his pure voice, one that you can understand every lyric. Neil Diamond, I grew up with as he was a favourite of my mother. I'm happy with whatever you do!
Great as always! Please make a Once upon a December covid-19 parody 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you, Eliza. That's a beautiful song - I had to remind myself of how it went. Who knows - it might become relyriced one of these days! 😁
Vaccine....never!
Great song. Sadly in 2022 it’s still going..
Thank you, D. Yes, I wish it weren't!
Delightful! And thank you to your singing friend for the duet. At first, because of the latest sexually-involved stink about an American politico, I thought that the song would be about Matt Gaetz. . . SO glad it was innocent!
Thanks, sonyahannah. I only really tackle political stuff that makes the world stage. Don't (nor wish to) know too much about Matt Gaetz. 😁
@ Consider yourself lucky! I consider MYself lucky that you decided to test the waters of parody during this interminable quarantine -- your work is a joy.
Thank you. This pandemic has just made my relyriced hobby more public - I've been writing songs like this for myself, friends and a number of paying clients for many years already.
That your voice doing Rolph Shirley lol
Haha, I wish I was that versatile!! 😂
Omg I am sooo hyped for this!!
Are go goubg to do Eidelwiess as well?
Enjoy the song! I wasn’t planning on tackling Edelweiss, given that it was sung by a man.
@ ah that makes sense, I didn't think of that 😅
@ Just drop your amazing, beautiful high-soprano voice to a bass?
👍 🤣 👍
Much love and thanks from the Seattle area.
I can relate to this a bit more than I’d like to be. Also, the funny thing is that you can only get a vaccine if you are over 16🤣
Oh dear! 😆
How do you match the vocsl tones so closely?
How do people get good at playing instruments? Years of practice.
Who was the bloke singing? Your hubby?
No, not hubby but another singer - Joey Nasser. My husband is in some of my videos though, but in non-singing roles - helping with background noise in Do Re Mi and My Favourite Things, and taking much more of a starring role in 'Nothing Compares' and 'Cut My Hair That Way.'
