It's 2023 and I heard this on the radio while on the way to the hospital and this suddenly gave me flashbacks of when I first heard this song and tears started coming down. Thank you for reminding me about how amazing my childhood was and thank you for being a part of my childhood
I completely disagree. It is exactly that Wiz Khalifa is a bad singer. Or, I guess that's not fair. It feels like he's an un-confident singer and was asked last minute and only had a vague idea of what the song was about. Note how his verse could've been added to pretty much any song and addressed at pretty much anyone.
Oh thank God they made an alternate version without the rapping. It was like someone suddenly playing heavy metal during "Here Comes the Bride" at a wedding. Now I can listen to this awesome song without dreading the rapping that would inevitably shove in. Switching out the versions on my i-Pod ASAP.
I think we can all agree that classics like these will prevail and always, ALWAYS, beat rap and can function incomparably better without it trying to butt in.
Thank goodness for this. I'm so sick of rap being injected into other genres of music. If I WANT to listen to rap, I will listen to a rap song! Thank you so much for the upload.

Quem ta ouvindo Em 2020? Cara nostalgia essa música, ouvia quando eu tinha 10 anos é hj atualmente tenho 19 anos, cara ainda sinto oque eu sentia quando ouvia ela.
It really is a different song with and without Wiz. It's just a lot less bitter without the rap. Don't get me wrong, both have their merits and own message, but Wiz makes the song about forgetting a girl cause she was in the wrong. On the other hand, this side is more hopeful. He wants the girl back and is begging for her to return. And funny enough, the lyrics surrounding the bridge/rap fit for both sides X3.
He has some hits and misses, most of his featured verses are misses though; There's this one song of his called Remember Me and his verses in it are so awful that it practically ruined the vibe of the song, so someone completely cut out Wiz from his own song and left The Weeknd's verses in instead(and the Weeknd was only featured in that song, yet his verses MADE that beat).
You have to REALLY nice to even consider calling rappers musicians. In the end, the only thing rap has done for music is to make more and more gang violence.
Alex Standley y’know there is rap that’s... soulful. There are actually pretty good and meaningful rap songs that aren’t about gangs. And rap can be implemented into things, the first thing into my head comes Moana because that was the last place to expect a rap but it was done well. Of course you can have your opinion, I’m definitely no fan of rap either, but can’t generalize a whole genre like that, while many that analyzation can definitely be true, it’s not the entire genre. I don’t like rap like I said, but I enjoy the style when it’s done right. Not all rap is the mainstream annoying ones. And hey rap doesn’t really happen anymore anyways because now we have mumble rappers. They don’t speak.

Frankly the bridge they cut to put in Wiz Khalifa is so lovely, also to hear the explicit version with the nice bridge is just the best. like the version I hear on the radio is the clean version without Khalifa or worse the clean version WITH Khalifa, which puts so many blanks into the rap that it's just SAD. so having this is all I ever wanted :)

me neither i think they are a trash band and annoying sounding, but this one and love somebody are the only songs i like
@@Batman_Fan they're not really trash, but yeah this is arguably their most popular song, besides she will be loved during the 2000's.
Guys ur kinda a decade late to respond to this comment😂
It's 2023 and I heard this on the radio while on the way to the hospital and this suddenly gave me flashbacks of when I first heard this song and tears started coming down. Thank you for reminding me about how amazing my childhood was and thank you for being a part of my childhood
I agree with Adrian deSilva: Not that Wiz Khalifa is a bad singer, its just that the rap/pop thing just ain't right
Wizard kalifa is good, it is just that payphone is a TERRIBLE song
Luke McFarland Really Luke? Payphone is awesome. I will take you on on Monday!
Hehehe
Luke McFarland Just btw. If Payphone is so horrible, then why are you on this page and able to comment?
I completely disagree. It is exactly that Wiz Khalifa is a bad singer.
Or, I guess that's not fair.
It feels like he's an un-confident singer and was asked last minute and only had a vague idea of what the song was about. Note how his verse could've been added to pretty much any song and addressed at pretty much anyone.
BlodhArget Almost anyone can rap... not everyone can sing like that!
Oh thank God they made an alternate version without the rapping. It was like someone suddenly playing heavy metal during "Here Comes the Bride" at a wedding. Now I can listen to this awesome song without dreading the rapping that would inevitably shove in. Switching out the versions on my i-Pod ASAP.
its been 9 years and i just discover this version today on tiktok. i really love it 😭
I think we can all agree that classics like these will prevail and always, ALWAYS, beat rap and can function incomparably better without it trying to butt in.
Agreeee
I love the harmonies in the bridge
tiktok brought me here, never regret every second of it. it's so good wth!! this is better than the original for me😫♥️
Thank goodness for this. I'm so sick of rap being injected into other genres of music. If I WANT to listen to rap, I will listen to a rap song! Thank you so much for the upload.
I'm at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone?
Baby, it's all wrong
Where are the plans we made for two?
Yeah, I, I know it's hard to remember
The people we used to be
It's even harder to picture
That you're not here next to me
You say it's too late to make it
But is it too late to try?
And in our time that you wasted
All of our bridges burned down
I've wasted my nights
You turned out the lights
Now I'm paralyzed
Still stuck in that time, when we called it love
But even the sun sets in paradise
I'm at a payphone, trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone?
Baby, it's all wrong
Where are the plans we made for two?
If "happy ever after" did exist
I would still be holding you like this
All those fairy tales are full of it
One more stupid love song, I'll be sick, oh
You turned your back on tomorrow
'Cause you forgot yesterday
I gave you my love to borrow
But you just gave it away
You can't expect me to be fine
I don't expect you to care
I know I've said it before
But all of our bridges burned down
I've wasted my nights
You turned out the lights
Now I'm paralyzed
Still stuck in that time
When we called it love
But even the sun sets in paradise
I'm at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you

If "happy ever after" did exist
I would still be holding you like this
And all those fairy tales are full of it
One more stupid love song, I'll be sick
Now I'm at a payphone
Ooh-ooh, yeah, yeah
Now, baby, don't hang up
So I can tell you what you need to know
Baby, I'm begging you, just please don't go
So I can tell you what you need to know
Yeah, I'm at a payphone trying to call home
All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone?
Baby, it's all wrong
Where are the plans we made for two?
If "happy ever after" did exist
I would still be holding you like this

i remember listening to this when i was 10-11 & fell inlove with the song way more then i did with the original. it never gets old.

Wiz khalifa's part makes no sense in relation to the song. It's completely and utterly useless and ruins this song

You keep the good stuff and throw away the rapper.
much better even in 2024.
too many memories...me, her, the blue sky and this song...times that will never come back
Soo nostalgic!!!ITS NOW BACK TO TRENDING!!
yeah... Wiz Khalifa may be a good rapper (i honestly don't know, just being nice), but it REALLY doesn't fit the song.
He's good just not for this song
Agreed. His verse did not fit here... This version is much better
This is my first time hearing this version! 😭 it’s so goooood!

On some radio stations the No Rap version plays
@@zeniaegan3341 The only radio stations that play the No Rap version are US Adult Contemporary and US Hot Adult Contemporary stations. US Pop and Rhythmic stations play the version with Wiz Khalifa.

Maroon 5 really rocks, they keep creating musics you can always play and stuck in your head. ♥
Yup BTW 9 years later
so addicting its amazing.

I honestly love every version of this song

Stamble Ronaldo is the best
This song came out while i was in high school. My first real girlfriend loved the album so i stole it from walmart for her birthday (broke 16 year old) 2 and a half years flash by in an instant. We graduate, her family is moving to phoenix and its clear its coming to an end soon. I remember trying to fall asleep but just lying there with her head on my chest enjoying the last moments of that incredible chapter...10 years later and shes married to a good man and has 3 sons. Im happy shes happy but i come back here every once in a while to think about what couldve been. Love like theres no tomorrow because sometimes there isnt.
This is the version of "Payphone" heard on the American version of 'Now! 43' as track 3.
