I have a 99 ZX9R now but owned a 98 TL1000R before and I can say the Tiller was a much stronger bike. The torque was amazing. I would trade the 9r for another Tiller anyday.
Nice. I owned a ZZR 1100 D the full power derestricted version and it had shorter gearing for improved acceleration and I was shocked when I replaced it for a TLR because the TLR is a bit quicker even with stock gearing. I’ve had the ignition timing restricter lifted and that’s the only mod. They are very underestimated bikes most owners will tell you that one.
I've had a C2 ZX9-R and i own now a TL1000R.In my opinion, the ZX9-R has more power no question about it.In acceleration to 250km/h the ZX9-R feels like it's pulling with really no noticeable slow down. With TL1000R, you can feel the acceleration slowing a bit after 200km/h.The TL1000R is heavier, but it just eats the corners on the road with ease, as the ZX9-R feels more stiffer, due to the driving position witch is more upward and the fork angle. But the TL1000R is really a true man's bike. ;)
Agree with Hondaman, reminds me of 2000 when i chased a TL1000R up the motorway on my then ZX-9R C1,i had no answer to his acceleration,i found myself slamming the gears down to build up the revs while the geezer just pulled the throttle back,i was watching his body language and didn't see him change gear,i thought then,'i want one of those'!!
@Lee7887 Yeah, on the bumpy bits (stock) it's evil especially accelerating hard out of any corner where the front will shake it's head badly when it gets light. A good damper helps but I ride my Tiller hard so have the damper on max all the time. On the smooth stuff it handles very sweetly and feels much lighter than it is. The torque is awesome and don't let anyone compare it to any other twin; it revs so fast and high and keeps making power right up until the limiter. It's as fun as my R1
took my tlr to knockhill trackday in Scotland last year, and what a laugh, the tl isn't as bad a people think? ok.... the rear shock is guf, but if you know yer bikes character then you'll know the limit of it, and I was surprised how good it was against 2009.2010 R1's and blades. amen ; )
Hell ya good shit with the tl I ride a 05 rc51 and they are similar and fun as hell god I love the torque of the v-twin and most say they are not flickable but I can romp on some twisties. Good riding on both parts. Oh if you can't prove you can do better than don't say they're not good.
I disagree, I don't think he could have passed him at all. The TL rider breaking was inferior to the ZX9 rider but as soon as they exited a corner the TL would pull away. The ZX9 rider was very inconsistant with his throttle.
@duude345 : Sorry dude but i don't think you know where you're talking about, do you even have a bike? What bike do you drive?? I'm the guy on the kawasaki and i was wandering if we could meet on a track, no bullshit just driving our bikes? That would be cool, and we upload the movie on you tube! LOL @zx6rluke: I could have take the TL on several occasions but yeah, then i wouldn't have him on video :-) And it's allowed to overtake at our trackdays...
@Force242 The ZX9R couldn’t beat it despite thrashing the tits off it and the TLR was always comfortably ahead so not sure what you mean??? Someone in these comments owns a ZX9R and his previous bike was a TLR and he said the TLR is the stronger bike with huge torque. he wants another TLR in replacement of his ZX9R. They both will reach roughly 170mph.
Man there was like 4 times you could have passed that TL..A couple of turns you could have easily taken without throttling down. Must be a damn good TL rider. Maybe a rear gear change? Seems you are either in the wriong gear or you are just not maxing the gear out.
all this ridiculous bragging about who's bike is better, did anyone watch the video? How cool would it be to actually be able to race at a track on any bike?!!! How many people actually get to do that? Great video
just bought a tiller 1000r there, coming 4rm a gixxer6, now i know wot they mean by torque, handling's not that bad to wot everyone make out 2 b,tillers r flickable, pitty they stopped them :-(
You with the TL100R, ready to see only my back light, far far in front of you? Some burned rubber in your face maybe? Let's set a date, battle of the bikes 98'
@Countryfa15 The TLR is a strong bike u jst gotta know how to rider her and hold ur gears out i bet u wont beat me with no weak ass 600rr i eat them..I only hav trouble with the new lighter gsxr 1000's the 07 is a Rice Rocket..Nxt bike 4 sure..
One of the best bike vid's on you tube...the rider on the tl really can toss that bike and drag his knee.....great vid..

Cool vid! I'd forgotten about this track!

i dont agree with some of you. watch the 9's rpm's. he was staying next to red. the tlr is a track bike don't F$%# with it. there fast out of the turn

Nice bro i gotta zx6r an a tl1000r an love both of them you cant compare an in line 4 to a vtwin not of almost the same cc
is die tl nu sneller, of moest je inhouden?
It's true, you will never get beaten by a
TL1000R, even with a skilled rider on board...

The only good triple is a Westmalle triple!!!!

Give me summer...!!
I know but then i would leave my friend on the TLR far behind and that wasn't my intension :-)
