The MOMENT a customer says they're suing, stop serving them. Period. Give them the contact for corporate legal and say you legally cannot help them since they have threatened legal action. Stand firm, do not help them even if they calm down. Once those words are said by them it becomes a legal issue in that any further contact will be through general counsel, have a great day. I have done this before when a customer has said this, it really takes the pressure off the frontline customer service employees

    • @jumpinjohnnyruss
      @jumpinjohnnyruss 3 месяца назад +24

Why wouldn't you legally be able to help them if they threated legal action? Can they sue you if you help them after that? Who would you be committing a grievance against? That doesn't seem like it makes any sense.

@@gthegadgetguy9703 I don't understand why. I can understand it if the employee tried to rectify whatever grievance they were threatening to sue over, but as an example, if they still wanted to buy some other item would it be a problem to serve them?

@@jumpinjohnnyruss The implication that an offense has been taken that would warrant legal action shouldn't be taken lightly. If you honestly think what has occurred requires you to sue then it is only proper to stop serving them as to preserve the interaction for evidence. Trying to add anything further could change the intent or original problem to the supposed situation you would say you are suing for.
Not only do businesses have a right to refuse service for any reason, but if you are gonna be reasonable about this why would you want to continue service with the business if they did an action requiring legal action. Why would they continue potentially escalating the situation if you are threatening legal action? It's why you don't go around throwing around empty threats just to get what you want, just like you don't pull out a gun and flash it around cause you want to seem tough and be surprised you might get guns drawn on you or shot.

They make a good point by saying it's less cabinet it should be cheaper. But 8x30 is not a standardized cabinet. If you want 9x30 I can make one in an hour because I have all of the parts. If you want 8x30, I have to cut stiles for the special door, a panel for the special door, stiles for the special frame, plywood for the special fixed shelf, a different kind of plywood for the adjustable shelf, pine for the hang rails, and Masonite for the special back....

For anyone wondering about the rice
Electronics can survive being wet if there's no current, so nothing to short with the water. You have to shut the device completely down, and leave it in rice for 1 day to 1 week. Once you are sure the electronics are completely dry (the point of the rice), it should be able to power on if it didn't short before you shut it off.
Rice doesn't REPAIR water damage, it PREVENTS it and will make sure things dry out before you turn it back on. If it doesn't work, the rice didn't fail - it didn't get into the rice in time.

    • @allaci17

      Technically correct but still misleading.
Depending on the liquid a device was soaked in, mineral deposits may have formed on the circuitry that will still short-circuit it once powered on even after you've let it dry completely. You're able to still save the device like you said if you manage to clean these away before powering it on, but simply drying it out may not be sufficient.

Presumably they know that bc of understanding the rice bit, they just did not bring it up bc the lay person doesn’t have an understanding of electronics and minerals like that. It’s sad, but true. Every person who’s into tech knows you need to clean electronics with alcohol so you get rid of those corrosive agents. But if you need someone to explain how or why rice soaks up water well, then explaining contaminants on a circuit board is prolly useless.

Its irritating because people like this make people with valid complaints feel uncomfortable voicing them without being viewed as a Karen.
For example my husband and I were at Subway and we ordered online, showed up, and informed them we were there. They acknowledged they saw our order and 30 minutes later we pointed out they still hadn't done it and they said they "had to serve walk ins first". Well... the "walk ins" were infinitely coming so an hour after we arrived (and already paid) they continuously took the orders from and made food for people who hadn't even paid yet like we had. So basically. They wasted an hour of our time when they knew d*mn well we were there staring at them and had already paid because they wanted to continuously serve people who got there AFTER us who hadn't even paid or ordered yet.
We ended up just going in line and requesting a refund. It took everything in me not to just scream at them for being d*cks (the manager) as I know for a fact that is not policy and is just that personal managers directive. Looked at reviews after and other people had similar issues with that Subway only.

I’ve worked at GameStop, and specifically did when this bundle was being sold- it was literally the only way at the time to get a ps5 for its 500$ price tag since there was a shortage at the time. People tried to come back in several times trying to sell the games from the bundle and we explained to them we couldn’t take the pieces of the bundle, we could only return the whole bundle. There’s no way this guy didn’t realize he was buying a bundle or got pressured ito anything, but more likely he had this plan in his head from the start- if he really didn’t want it he could’ve returned the whole bundle and gotten the ps5 later. Likely the bundle was done partly with the intention to stop scalpers, but the games were also really new and popular and most people buying a ps5 at the time were gonna get them anyway, so it became a deal with one or two of the games actually only being offered through the bundle at the time. The company does change stuff around every now and then but not being able to return pieces of bundles has been a thing for a while. Also please don’t bother minimum wage workers if you have a problem, call the support line instead.

I worked at a thrift store like Plato’s Closet, so we would purchase clothes from customers and resell them for higher than we bought. We would of course only buy clothes we knew we could sell.
This one middle aged woman came into our store with a dozen 30 year old women’s suites and wanted to sell them. We looked at them and they were obviously old and way out of style, so we knew no one would buy them.
We politely told her we unfortunately could not purchase any of her clothes and she screamed and yelled at us for like 10 minutes about how high quality the suits are & she paid soooo much money for them we are so stupid.
She finally left and we were all flabbergasted lol! I remember saying to my coworker “if they they are sooo high quality then why doesn’t she want to wear them? 😂” (they were hideous)

Two minutes later, she comes back through the drive through, extremely irritated, saying, "this tastes like it has COFFEE. I wanted a BREVE." Man, thanks for standing up for us. I used to work at a game store called 'Game Crazy' and had an uninformed parent christmas shopping. We were required to offer everyone an 'mvp' membership which basically gave them a 20 percent discount on used games. This particular customer didn't want to hear any of it and insisted on a brand new copy of gta san andreas for her 13 year old son. This was back when the sex game was still in the game (I'm old) so we also had to warn parents about that. After purchasing the game new, she saw the used price and immediately demanded a refund. The company had a return policy that made it impossible to refund a brand new game. There was literally no way I could do it. She ended up calling the police which couldn't do anything because the refund policy was literally printed on the receipt. She ended up being told to leave by the police. The next day, she comes in screaming at me about how vulgar the game was when I wasn't even allowed to sell it to her without an ID. She calls the cops again, and again they can't do anything. She ends up trying to break the disc in half and throwing the disc and then the case at me and got arrested for assault.

It doesn’t allow you to proceed with a sale of a ps5 with no bundle, and not even the store leader could override it. I had been yelled at a few times about the bundles and had to explain it. Also literally I remember what the games tended to be, very very popular games like god of war and spider man. You can sell those online so easily if you don’t want them. I’m so glad a majority of people understood this, and understood I wasn’t to blame. I honestly was just as frustrated as they were about it. If you had the balls to confront them about convincing you to buy something, you wouldn't have bought it in the first place. Why do i think this? Because I'm that type of person. I would be the one to feel pressured to buy something even if I'm not physically pressured. I don't go back and make it their problem, it's my own fault for letting them take advantage of my naivety. Usually when you get "pressured" like that, it's because you don't like saying no or letting the person down and you also don't like causing a scene. It's a people-pleasing thing. We wouldn't allow ourselves to get pressured and then turn back and then cause trouble because it brings unnecessary attention.

Gamestop employees are (usually) super lenient about customizing bundles, too. If you don’t like the options they’re offering, they’ll let you swap it out for a different game or different design. That’s how I got the Mario themed Switch bundle with Animal Crossing.

37:00 ngl this is why I cant help but feel like an enabler when I give them money. I have a dude near my house been there since I started going to university that way, and he has not left despite being there for 3 years and getting soo much money. He always has this sign saying hes sober and needs a little help, but I cant believe it. At some point you are enabling poor responses to hard times and keeping them comfortable where they are. There are some that may be temporarily homeless and are actually dealing with stuff, but you can figure out whos who by offering them work or food lmfao

To be fair, on the offering them food, homeless people will often accept the food only to throw it away later because they don't know what you might have done to it.

Ive work in a deli at my local grocery store for over 5 years and I’ve experienced some ridiculous male & female Karen’s. Plus disrespectful attitudes from customers who come in just to complain about prices or if there’s an item that needs to be pulled off someone will talk down to the staff basically telling them we should be better at spotting items ffs

I'm a 55 Year old British woman who has worked in shops, mostly when I was at school to make a little pocket money. Anyway when I was 16 Years old I worked in a forest that also was a small fruit & veg shop, Anyway I had a fantastic boss, she was so nice & kind to who ever worked for her, she always had our backs. Anyway Back then if you worked in shops you were always told the customers is always right , it's not as bad now. 1 day I wrote a sign to go outside for the customers to see, I was stood behind the counter , the shop was full, I was serving someone, this woman came in & said in a loud harsh voice , " who wrote the sign outside " , I spoke up said it was me, she started humiliating me saying in a loud mocking, nasty voice " you should go back to school & learne to read & write because you can't spell " she said a few nasty, humiliating things, I just stood there I nearly burst out crying it was Horrable. Anyway my boss Mary. was stood there listening the woman even told My boss she should get better staff as well as other things. My boss Mary said to the woman. " don't ever talk & treat my staff like that ever again told her to get out her shop, she was banned but had to say sorry to me 1st that she rather have me work for her than have her as a customer. Mary never lost her cool, was Sterne but polite. It was awfull, I felt so ashamed but felt a little better I was stood up for. That woman thourt everyone would stand by her, even laugh at me, she had that Karren attitude looking around at everyone while smirking. I I understand how hard it can be for people working in shops, pubs ect. I always make sure I go out my way to give the curtadey, respect, paitence all these shop keepers deserve, yes there is the odd & I mean odd 1 that isn't good in there work & customers butmits rare I always make sure I say Please, Thank You, & all through Covid ide also make surenide always say Thank You to every single 1 of them for risking themselfs & there family to serve me

I used to work at a bikini warehouse where some bikinis could sell for literally less than a dollar. We worked for minimum wage without AC in the summer.
At the cash, we had a sign that said "Final sale", told the customers before ringing them up it was final sale, no exchanges, no refunds, and stamped it on their receipt. Of course several of them still tried to bring back a bikini they had bought as a gift for someone else without knowing if it would fit them and got mad that we wouldn't exchange the size or refund it. One woman ended up so mad she threw the bikini at her cashier's face and storming out. Another lady and her daughter started insulting the cashier and the manager when they were told the price tag on their item was wrong (the plastic wire had clearly been folded to pass through a tag that was not on there originally). All of that for a couple of dollars...

Only iron can rust. Electronic cirtuitry typically consists of copper, gold, and lead. While copper does react pretty badly to the process of oxidation, the process also takes decades unless it's left out on a beach with salty sea spray being blown against it by the wind. The actual issue with electronics and water specifically is shorting.
*As long as there isn't any current running while water is present,* use of a dessicant agent like raw rice or silica pellets should generally do an adequate job *preventing* damage to electronics that have been accidentally flooded.
Obviously, if you're using your phone and drop it in water while it's turned on, it's most likely fucked.
