- At 5:45 pm a Maserati was traveling southbound on I-45 neat The Woodlands Mall in the HOV lane at close to 100mph. The driver lost control, came across all lanes of I-45 sideways, and hit a tree in the median. The impact cut the car in two just behind the driver's seat. A Trooper and passersby pulled the victim from the vehicle and initiated CPR. The 42-year-old driver was pronounced deceased on the scene. The freeway was closed for a short time as Troopers investigated the crash. The feeder remained partially closed until just after 9 pm as Ricky's Wrecker was tasked with loading the two halves of the car. The driver was transported to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy. DPS was assisted by MCSO and the Oak Ridge Police Department. A landscape truck traveling south on the feeder was struck by debris as it passed as the vehicle hit the tree. The vehicle only had just over 1400 miles on it.

Where they come up with some of these reporters.. I heard one the other day talking about a shooting victim that died they tried to contact him but he was unavailable for comment , 10 min later another one was a shooting into a crowd the & the suspect "Might be armed " SMH
😂😂
Speed isn't the issue. It never has been, a car like this is capable of near 200 Mph on roads where the driver and his neighboring drivers know how to drive. Americans have never been taught to drive properly. Germans have since the Autobahn was created and sensible road rules became law.
@@hudsondonnell444 I guess you are going to tell us that German drivers NEVER have high speed wreaks.

He took a MC20 with him.
Those look like some nice wheels.
He tried to maneuver around a trailer. Hit the trailer easily at 120+ then spun another 200ft before hitting that tree. I was climbing down a billboard as it happened. Loud and loud when it snapped!
Hi performance car meets low performance driver
Hi performance car meets higher performance little tree.
Not really. Could very easily have been that the driver hit water and aquaplaned or someone moved into the drivers path and in trying to avoid hitting them lost control. None of us know what really happened other than someone died.@@peacefulwanderer2050

Don't agree. You must be à high performance driver to accomplish what nobody did before...
It was the MC20 supercar@theendisnearbeware
As an owner of one of these beautiful MC20s I can confirm that it hauls ass, the MC20 feels very safe and stable at high speeds but one must have self control. I’m only one year older than this guy so it hits me pretty close to home. These machines must be respected. My condolences to his family.
i went from a sports car to a jeep, no problem with speed any more. It's about as aerodynamic as a brick thrown by a toddler
How much daddy Paid for the Maserati?
Be careful bud!! You notice NONE of the airbags deployed? Looks like drivers curtain ALMOST deployed but not quite. An impact such as this and all the airbags should have deployed. Carbon fiber tub held up well though…
@@8PMFORMULA the base price for this vehicle is $212K. Your insinuation that "daddy paid for it"... slimy. Go wank in the corner now, wont you?

What's amazing is even though the car is ripped in half, the driver cell/cockpit is completely intact, impressive.
The car has a carbon tub. The part that came away was the rear subframe which is steel. It did exactly what it as supposed to do. I don't see any airbags deployed though which is odd.
Car didn’t absorb the impact and hence the sudden stop was more harsh probably that was what cause the fatality.

In car vs. tree crashes, trees are virtually undefeated.
Driving to fast for the rainy weather, I lost control of my '64 Mustang and hit a tree. The tree is still there, whereas there's no telling how many reincarnations the scrap metal salvaged from the 'Stang has experienced.
Yep, you've got that right, People need to have a lot more respect for "Trees" when comes to driving fast around them. I would also like to add HGV's (16 wheelers in U.S) To the undefeated category when it comes to a match up against cars!
That's why I always stand behind them after car shows and meet ups 😂
Undefeated , undisputed.
🧐Right, but it’s still a result of the sudden stop FROM a high rate of speed.
it's not the speed that kills you, it's the sudden stop.
Nascar legend Dale Earnhardt found that out in 2001-R.I.P Dale
Really?
IT IS THE SUDDEN STOP & IMPACT TO WHAT IS HIT, THAT KILLS A PERSON. THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE IS DOUBLED AT IMPACT!!!! IM NOT AN EXPERT ON THIS INFO, BUT I DO KNOW THIS INFO FROM THE WRECK THAT MY DAUGHTER & GRANDSON WERE IN & PASSED AWAY TOGETHER!!!!
Sudden stops at speed limit have a good chance of not killing you.
In this case, yes. But otherwise, high g-force would still kill you.
Update From MCPR: DPS has identified the driver of the Maserati who was killed Tuesday evening after losing control and striking a tree in front of The Woodlands Mall. The driver has been identified as Miguel Mosqueda, 42, of Pearland. Mosqueda died on the scene. He had been traveling close to 90 mph in the HOV lane of southbound I-45 near Lake Woodlands when he lost control, crossed all the lanes of the freeway sideways, and struck a tree in the median between the freeway and feeder.
90 mph in a maz and he lost control crossing all 4lanes. What did he get spooked and used both hands to cover his eyes? 90 sent that fast especially for that car with those tires. The tires that come on that car are pretty sticky… did they mention anything about toxicology report?
Yeah more like 90x2 to split the car clean like that.
Awesome! Mission accomplished
@@Byu50 Maybe not, in my town a old muscle car was split in half at 60 to 70 mph, hitting a pole sideways will do it. In this case here in my town the driver survived, the car was cut behind drives seat all the way through. Good to have respect on the road
RIP
Been in a serious accident on highway 90 where a young distracted driver rear ended us going 85 while we were crawling in traffic. flipped us ass-over-end and rolled three times. Cab of the new RAM 1500 4x4 was crushed. We had injuries requiring hospitalization but recovered. Since then I have studied crash dynamics and survivability. Hard to see this senseless loss. Young man of 42, thought he could control the beast but no, as with many who have and will pass, its too much power and speed for public roads and testosterone laden men seeking the thrill. A once beautiful machine turns ugly in a millisecond. Too much power, too fast. God bless his family and those affected. It's always a shame and very hard.
A lot of these guys with high performance car don't have the slightest idea of performance driving and meet a tree or other object hard
What's tragic is he could easily have gotten a "Track Day Pass" at various Road Race Courses like Austin F1 track, etc to safely get his "need for speed fix".
When I was 21 I built a Datsun 510 BRE Replica Street Race car and boy it was fast as a Corvette & handled like a Porsche.
We went racing at the Gymkhana Saturday SCCA races at San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium with cones race course - all out against the clock - safely !
This release of racing passion allowed me to drive relatively sedately if sprightly day to day, awaiting race day.
Nowadays there's even higher performance cars versus 1982 when I raced, ergo more need than ever for affordable car race venues.
I hear there are various Race Courses all around our huge State or visit the Sports Car Club of America to locate local Gymkhana races.
If you can afford the car you can afford to join a track.

Same here. In '22, we bought and own a '17 Grand Sport, Collector's Edition, and folks are constantly trying to race when we're out with it. I'm usually taking one of our 4 kiddos on special dates with Momma, and will never let ego overtake the respect I have for not only myself and my babies, but anyone else on the road as well. Anyone who buys a super high speed car like that should be required to take a drivers class on how to handle that kind of car. Most people have no clue how fast cars like that can move. It's an entirely different set of physics and skill.
And be given an intelligence test.
Need a class to follow the speed limit? Sounds kinda simple to me.
What ? How can you forget about Mustangs… not just high end cars.😂
It's simple, you press the accelerator and it goes. Current mass production supercars like this, or even multimillion dollar hypercars, can be driven like a video game, the traction control is there doing everything for you. But of course, if you are driving on a public road at illegal speeds it goes beyond existing or nonexisting driving skills. One needs to be very aware that foreseen and unforeseen obstactles can appear, as it was the case here.
Or ask where the money cam from to buy it.

Agreed. I live in the twin cities and notice that some people were upset that he was in the HOV lane. I have driven through town and the HOV lanes are open to all traffic at certain hours. It is amazing to me how people are triggered at the dumbest things. Either way it was irrelevant what lane he was driving in.
I would say the upper seatbelt being attached to the other half of the car wouldn’t have helped survival of this crash
was wearing it-had to cut the seatbelt
These cars are made to split in half during a crash to separate the engine from the driver in a crash. Eliminating the risk of a fire in the passenger area. Most likely baser in how decent the passenger cabin looks he wasn't wearing his seat belt and that led to his demise.
The seat belts mounts are still intact to the back of the monoque still, and Scott mentions that they had to cut the drivers seat belt to extract the person from the car, but upon looking at the roof structure of this MC20 Cielo it is crushed just aft of the driver's seat so most likely they received a severe head and neck injury resulting in their untimely death. I would blame excessive speed and cold tires as the main reason for the vehicle losing control, performance tires as the likes of Pirelli P Zeros or Michelin Pilot Sports need heat built up in them to have maximum traction. A cold maximum performance tire is like driving on ice even on a hot summer's day.
More than likely the impact snapped his neck on impact and it was instantly over. The old saying that he didn’t feel what hit him is extremely accurate in this case. It all happened so quickly that he never had the opportunity to feel anything fortunately. A side impact of this magnitude is the worst hit a body can take due to the body’s design. The neck and spine are not designed to bend sideways and this type of impact typically results in the neck snapping or separating the spine/spinal cord from the base of the skull/brain resulting in instant death. This is why drag racers wear a neck collar designed to give support & protection from side impacts into the walls called a “hans device” which helps to prevent upper neck shear.
@@MichaelSmith-kr9qw I looked it up and Google says the oem tire is a Bridgestone potenza sport that is bespoke to the mc20… but the tread pattern dosen’t look like what’s on this car 🤷♂️

Hitting a tree sideways like that probably caused neck and spinal trauma. The back half ripping off would absorb some of the impact but still would be a very violent crash.
Wow 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳prayers for them 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 so sad to high speeding cars 🚘 that get life takeing 😢😢😢😢thanks for sharing this video
As the owner of a late model 911 many people ask me how fast I have gone. When I tell them I drive in the middle lane on a three way highway which is usually at least 10mph over the limit they look like I am strange. People always like to push limits.
To be fair, as long as no one is anywhere near me, I've definitely pushed substantial speed on the road. Should I, no. There are tracks but they are some distance from me. With that said, most single vehicle accidents like this have something else going on. DUI, popped a tire/bent a wheel, overcorrection to avoid something. His speed wasn't really that extreme, 90-to-100mph isn't a speed that with any level of driving ability, you should be eating a tree. I drive a very sketchy car semi-regularly (GenV Viper) and without knowing more about this accident, I keep going back to DUI.
Took a reckless endangerment ticket for me to stop driving like an an idiot on open roads. Got a 104 in a 70, the cop actually could have gotten me for more as he seen the max speed on my double din at the time, it was around 130 I was slowing down when he clocked me, I had no idea the double din had that feature but the cop knew about it. I was supposed to go jail, this was in NC when I was in the military. That ticket cost me a lot of money. Had to take a driver safety class which was also expensive. Really dumb, if I lost control of whatever I would have probably died and/or killed someone. I drive a Prius now lol, when I got that ticket I had a Mazdaspeed 3. Driving is just driving now, get to where I'm going. Not only did it cost me a lot of money, but I got in trouble at my unit for it.
Hope the tree makes a full recovery.
RIP to whoever lost their life. 😢
Maserati:
“I’m FAST! I’m SO POWERFUL! I’m one sleek, mean machine!”
Tree:
“Hold my beer.”
@theendisnearbewareshut up a Maserati is a Maserati what you driving
Wow that's craaazy, the front end of the car is still powered up after all of that
1452 miles!!! Owner was anxious to try it out. Hard lesson.
This is why I haven't bought a Lamborghini yet
That, and the little inconvenience of not having the money for one........
You don't have to drive reckless if you do get one.
He can buff that out! 😌
Can he "buff" himself back to life ?
Nothing screams “entitled mentality” quite as loud as a solo driver in the carpool lane!
Slow drivers to the right!
I’d call it “in a hurry” not wntitled
@@abbyynorman2874 Call it what you want….but the HOV lane is for carpools…not for self-important people in a hurry. Leave earlier.
Was looking for this comment!! I knew someone else was bright enough to pick up on the fact he was in the HOV lane but only one victim!
No, the devil was on the passengers side 😮
Poor tree😢sad misuse of a nice car😢unnecessary loss of life
this really gives the term “spirited driving” a whole new meaning
This was yesterday and is it a brand new MC20 and it’s about 280k-300k depends on how you spec it out
Who was the driver?
$215k-275k, still very very expensive 4 wheel toy.
This one is $280-$340k, at 7:14 you can see it is the Cielo version, this one also has the carbon fiber package@@dr.jiIIaIicecooper2587
Wow only 42 and can afford a car like that. F*ck me! I clearly took a wrong turn or five in life.
Bro, if you are in a good health and don't owe any money to anybody, you are richer than many.
Only 42 lmao
You’re still alive….much richer than him…
Well you didn’t take this wrong turn so I think you’re probably gonna be ok. You’re alive aren’t you? More than he has.
Some people start out with rich parents and connections
Why didn't the airbags deploy or am I missing something?
What a waste to lose your life over probably going at excessive speed
I wonder if it had Side Impact Bags... it might have helped...🤔... those tires looked pretty worn... I do hope the tree survives...
Wow only 1452 miles on it. Physics should be taught in public schools even though everyone is going to fail. Like who cares if the kids know most of the teachers aren't an expert in every class at public-school.
WHat the hell are you rambling about?
@@trxtech3010. Nothing! Absolutely nothing.
My crash I only had 12,000 on a 2022 Nissan Altima SR by a drunk driver who almost killed my family that night
@@trxtech3010 If young-adult attractive females knew physics then maybe that driver would have too & the behavior would have seemed as uncool as owning a Maserati.
@@gregorythomas4470 Your comment is about nothing.
Prayers for the family 🙏
Thank you, we appreciate it.
Crazy that it still had power, 1452 miles
Battery is mounted in the front of the car
1500 miles there's no way he knows the car yet and it's abilities
Guess he broke this one in!!!
@@ewillson4953 🤣😂
Brand new..
I was headed north on Highway 5
On a starlit Sunday night
When a pick-up truck flew by me out of control
As I watched in my headlights
He swerved left and then back right
Never hit the brakes as he left the road
I found him lying in the grass among steel and glass
With an empty whiskey bottle by his side
Through the blood and tears, he whispered in my ear
A few last words just before he died
And he said, "Don't tell mama I was drinking
'Cause Lord knows that her soul would never rest
Now I can't leave this world with my mama thinking
That I met the Lord with whiskey on my breath"
Talk about a half-assed job by Maserati. Get it? *slaps knee cap off*.
