- Here are our top tips for taking the train across the USA/Canada border.
1. Make sure your checked luggage is under 23kg
2. You only need to check your luggage at the terminal. The customs part is at the other end of your train journey. So you don't need to give yourself too much time to sit at the terminal.
3. Bring water/snacks and entertainment.
4. Your documentation will be checked on the train at the border crossing (which the train doesn't stop for...) Be prepared for the operator by opening your passports to the photo pages and if you have a visa to have that handy too.
5. Pick up your luggage at the end of your train journey.
6. Get off the train fast to be at the front of the line for entry to the country.
7. Enjoy the scenery and trip!
