For the animated series: It's good, it's worth it, it goes by faster than you'd think considering the length and it's right up your alley. Either for the channel or on your own, do watch it.
This is one of those shows where even if you say you aren't planning on watching the animated version any time soon, everyone will insist you do because its a masterpiece lol. I think it could be interesting to see you react to the live action without having seen the animated show though!

"He still has to master air, too." As a kid he certainly needs to refine his skills as he gets older and more battle practices, but Aang has his tattoos *because* he mastered air bending. The fact he is the Avatar when he goes into the Avatar State the tattoos glow as well, which is just so cool to see and a very nice touch.

I think it's great you guys are going into a mostly blind reaction to the live action series. You're going in with open minds and you can enjoy the show without over analyzing everything between the two shows.

Honestly, I am kinda interested in seeing a totally blind reaction to the live action, but would never ask someone to do that because the previous attempt was so bad I wouldn't want to risk the live action souring your opinion of the animated, the animated is just so good it deserves the best! Regardless of when you end up watching it, you absolutely should watch the animated!

I'm with you, Robert. I knew NOTHING about ATLA when I watched this trailer, but my 20 year old son watched it when he was 13 and loved it! The trailer was so good that I decided to binge the first season of the animated series so my son, who lives at home in his third year of college, and I can watch it together.

Man the avatar the last airbender cartoon is fantastic and so is the sequel series legend of korra. I have the bluray box set that has both of them together. This Netflix live action version looks fantastic. I'm very excited for this

The four elements are represented by the Air Nomads, The Water Tribes, the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom. I have both Avatar and The Legend of Korea on DVD.

I did what ya are doing with One Piece. I knew of the anime show, but never seen an episode prior. I absolutely loved the live action version and started watching the animated series thereafter. Honestly, my preference leaned towards the live action because it was taken the animated series several eps to get to what the live action show accomplished in 1-2 eps.
So it’ll be interesting to see how you take the two versions of Avatar: The Last Airbender and which will you favor over the other.
Hearing the Avatar State as "juicing" is amazing. I might have to say that from now on.
I definitely recommend watching the animated show at some point after you watch the live action. I think it will make great content if you guys go in blind and without bias...sign me up.
The music in the trailer is great because it's a slightly amped up version of the show's music. This show's score is so much more intricate compared to many animated shows. It's phenomenal, to the point where there's now a concert version of the series touring the world with a live orchestra playing the best parts of the score.

Airbender and Legends of Korra are some of the best animated shows I have ever watched. Right up there alongside Batman The Animated Series, and the Animated DCEU.
You have to see the animated series. It's so worth it. It's also the best therapy.

The original series should probably be watched first. It’s considered one of the best series of all time for a reason, and I wouldn’t want this version to ruin the story for you if it’s bad.

I really really really hope ya'll react to the original and Legend of Korra afterwards. Or at least watch it on your own, its one of the best universes I've experienced. Also, "digging the music", this is nostalgia of the highest quality because they are using the original soundtrack.

I think going intro the TV show blind is a great angle. Because maaany channels have watched the series and are going int othis live action series with hope and optimism. So ignore anyone who insists you watch the cartoon first. If One Piece can be watched without seeing the anime, you'll be totally fine with this I reckon.
Fair enough about not seeing the animated original. The only reason I got around to seeing it 5 years ago was I was ensconced at home with a fever for four days, and I binged most of it. Mind you I only have fever-induced memories of the whole thing. 😅
Wow, you guys should react to the animated series. It would be a great reaction and probably get tons of views. And besides, it’s just an incredible show.
It’s only 61 episodes of 22 minutes each, which is like 30 of the longer shows you watch. And because episodes are shorter you should be more easily able to cut out a LOT to not have issues showing it. Maybe just have unedited reactions on your Patreon and then look at what successful reactors have done with it (after you’re done) to figure out how to edit it for RUclips.

The benders have offshoots of their elements, so the benders of one element can have more in their arsenal. Though, the Avatar is the ONLY person who can master all four elements. Fire has an interesting offshoot, Water’s offshoot is sinister, Earth’s offshoot is a personal fav (though that’s bias because of the character who masters it, but they won’t be introduced unless a season two happens), don’t know about Air.

I felt it when she said about starting and things coming up in life. I was in the same boat... I was obsessed then the final book was out around when I started my first job. I didn't get to finish it till a year or so later when one day it clicked "oh wait, I never saw the ending!"
Ps..don't ever watch the first avatar movie by m night. It doesn't make sense and it's basically a knock off. It's the Avatar, not ovaltar...iykyk
The Avatar is the mediator between people and human vs spirit world. The grand guardian and protection of keeping that in balance. Through negotiation and wisdom and force as last resort. Though that negotiation part in the show ironically barely shown because most Avatars shown including MC has to fight constantly during conflicts in a war-torn world. Still an ambitious person likely won´t crave to be one.

basically was in my late 20s when the original series come out, and I couldn't stop watching it; even though the trailer looks great, not sure until it comes out and you got plenty of time to watch the original series which is only 3 seasons and still stands up.

The animated series is one of the greatest pieces of fiction that i have ever experienced in my life and i watched the show late (at 24 years old).. The story is one of the best ever told. People insist reactors to react to it because is a joy making first timers to enjoy one of the greatest masterpieces humanity has ever created, like why would we hide such a masterpiece from humanity?How can a human have the ability to make such a good story?
The only thing that could scare people is the childish moments the characters have throughout the adventure because at the end of the day is a kids show, and the main characters are kids, BUT with enough maturity for adults to enjoy. Is the same as One Piece, is directed at teenagers but adults are the biggest demographic of the fandom lol, and the story speaks for itself.
My favorite is Earth Kingdom for sure

Ohh my goodness you guys should binge the cartoon! It is good even for adults. Definitely check it out. It’s not that long of a watch. The episodes are fairly short. You can probably knock out a season in a day if you have a few hours.
Not saying react but maybe check it out on your own if you have the free time. Maybe the Netflix show will make you want to check it out.

The Avatar is the only one that can master the four elements. Also not all citizens are a master in their nation's element and also some can use high level abilities in their element, its very interesting.
Now the Avatar is born once the other died and it has a cycle: Fire, Air, Water and Earth. They master their element and have to leard from others how to use the others elements.
My favorite is water, it's interesting all the things a water bender can do with it. I'm sure Robert will love this and will fall in love with Appa.
Aang doesn’t need to master air, he’s already a master since he has his arrow.

In a nutshell, the Avatar is a supernatural soul, capable of master all elements, that reincarnates following an order between the nations. The one before Aang was a Fire native, so when he dies next in line is Air. The fire lord, knowing this, decides he wants to conquer all the nations so he goes first to attack the Air masters, that is the opening and why he is the last airbender... all the others are gone and he only survived cause he panicked and ran when found out he was the avatar, so wasn't in the temple.

Im 46 years old, so I was a young adult when the show aired. Im yelling you, it is some of the story telling to EVER find a television screen. Animated, live action, doesn't matter. IMO Zuko is the REAL story being told......
Even if you don't react to it on here, definitely watch the OG cartoon. Yeah, they're like 20+ eps per season, but they're only 20 minute episodes. They fly by.

It's "Appa" as in dad. Technically his name is Kim Saang-Il on the show, but he's primarily called Appa throughout the series.

The fact this looks so accurate to the original cartoon/animated show is really weird considering the original creators of the show worked on this until they quit pretty early on due to "creative differences" which is odd. I've heard here or there that Netflix wanted an absolutely spot on adaptation of the show, but the original creators wanted to change a few things to make things make sense earlier on and add more lore to the earlier episodes of this live action version. Just odd to me.
I'm incredibly hopeful for the show after having seen the featurette they released a few days ago. It's fine if you wanna watch the live action show first. I was (unfortunately) introduced to the series through the terrible live action movie and then still became a huge fan after finally seeing the animated series. I DO highly recommend watching the original animated series eventually, though, even if it's on your own and not as a reaction thing, because nothing is ever gonna beat the OG animated stuff.

People that bend the elements can only bend one which is specific to the nation they are born in, since bending is passed down through the generations. However, the Avatar can bend all the elements... and he is the only one that can do it. And the Avatar reincarnates after dying, being born in each of the four nations in a specific order, so balance can exist between them.
Though it's interesting getting the perspective of someone who hasn't seen the show, really have to watch the show. After you watch the Netflix show it's good and watch the animated version.

Well this show will give newbies insite to the world of Avatar. But lifelong fans will probably be hesitant to watch this especially since the live action movie from 2010 🤢. Just because neither of you have fully seen the animated show, I'd say watch this live action, and then go back and watch at least season 1 of the animated show. Up to you of course!

While the animated series has 22 episodes per season, you’re talking about 20 minute episodes. If this series has 10 1-hour episodes it will be longer than season 1 of the animated series.
Slight correction: Aang is already a master airbender hence the tattoos.
