    FYI: the fish structure pulled up at the end was left at the dock. I wasn't sure if it was important or not and I didn't want to throw something I wasn't sure of back in the water.

      That's a bait trap. Guys use those to lure in the fish to catch them. Baiting fish should be illegal, just like using nets. Reduces fish population and kills lakes. You should report that to fish and wildlife or game wardens in your area.

      It is common courtesy to not magnet fish around folks fishing on a dock. Throwing in a magnet or even dropping it straight down makes quite a sound in water
      and scares the fish away. One day a fisherman will let him know in no uncertain terms .

    That ball with the pipes coming off of it is a Crappie Magnet. They actually sell these things and they are quite expensive, and work great because you can fish right in the middle of them without getting hung up. Unlike brushpiles where you need to be a foot or so above or to the side of them.

      Yup that's why you should scuba too lol

    • @illumiNOTme326

      Raymond Ashby- not if he uses an electromagnet with an alternating current.. The magnet will cause the gold and silver to stick to it because of the Eddy currents generated by AC magnetic field.

    • @illumiNOTme326
      @illumiNOTme326 6 лет назад +3

      Jon Z - this video will explain the science behind it along with a little demonstration. Obviously you would need to have a pretty decent size electromagnet with high enough alternating current something like 60 hertz or so. you can also make it yourself which is pretty cool just look for some instructions online or follow this guy's instruction. ruclips.net/video/-9e7DBzdpQY/видео.html

    That weird contraption you caught at the end is a man made fish structure/attractor. The state puts them there so fish will congregate around it. It's a standard practice in any lake. It's also why people can catch so many nice crappie off that dock. You can get a hefty fine for messing with them.
