Huge thanks Sootch! I watch you regularly and am impressed by all that you do to help those of us early on our prepping journey to move forward. I just found that Ebay has a deal with some sellers until 11/11, which gives $24 off of a purchase of the Arcfeld Ultra. I found a seller, offered $90 which they accepted, and with the discount just bought an Ultra for $78 , tax and shipping included.
I understand being sponsored etc, and I love your videos...but I support Surefire and Streamlight rather than Chinese companies. The Wedge XT is the best EDC light I have ever carried.
I get it, but I do prefer Olight pistol lights for quick detachment and how they actuate, which I just personally prefer. My Olights have been completely reliable, whereas, for example, Nightstick flashlights are made in Texas but are pretty uniformly terrible (and I say this from personal experience within a large sample size). My Olight Warrior X Pro has been great and I carried that in place of 3 different ones they cycled us through, but did retire it to the nightstand once we went to the Streamlight Strion LED HL, which is more compact, lighter, durable and close enough to as good as the Warrior X Pro. The Strion is more of a hassle to charge, but that's less of a thing than it used to be for me. As small EDC flashlights go, I have had a Streamlight Microstream USB for a good long while and don't plan on changing. I'm certainly happy enough with Streamlight to never pay the premium for a Surefire, just don't see the need.
@@ericmcfarlin4272 Yeah, hard to avoid these days...but I said Chinese company. Olight is a straight up Chinese entity...Streamlight and Surefire are both American companies that do have manufacturing onshore for their higher end stuff.
I just got mine. This is a great review and I have to make a review with it for Metal Detecting. I can't wait open it and take it out tonight for a run with the detector. The turtles nesting here are going to be happy with the low light settings on this.
I have the Arkfeld Pro and I can't say enough good things about it. Olight simply went and designed way outside the box and it shows. What has really impressed me that I wasn't expecting was the battery life. It simply went on and on without the need for recharging until last night. Recharged in 2 1/2 hrs. from red light on battery life indicator. I use the light almost everyday and it is my EDC. I use the lumens as best suited for the lighting task at hand. I didn't baby it as I wanted to see how it would perform. I could go on and on. From the 4 different lumen settings to the three different light choices to the ergonomic design and the exceptional battery life you cannot go wrong. Olight is setting the standard.
My biggest qualm is no replaceable battery and no USB-C Charging. Have to always find that cable when I need it. But my Arkfeld is a great light that I do carry often.

You know it’s crazy how much hate olight seems to get. I think I’ll be buying one of these for work, this was a great review. I’ve been using their lights for probably around 6-8 years but I haven’t bought too many because I’ve had no reason to, they hold up very well. My only issue with some of their lights is the magnetic charger on the back that is also the button to turn them on. I’m a heavy equipment mechanic and when grinding and working around metal shavings if you get too many shavings on the magnet, it pulls them in and the rear button will quit working. I’ve since solved this problem by putting a soft rubber cap on the back while at work. These lights preform just as well or better than other “high end lights” and they don’t come in at near the price as some of them. And in my line of work out in the field in rain or snow, hot or cold, oil, and simply just beating the crap out of them by the nature of my job I give these guys a big thumbs up
Great video @sootch00! 10:38 I love the Arkfeld UV mode. I have 550 paracord with reflective orange string and it makes that really glow in the dark. I put it on my Keys, zippers of my tent or go bag and it really makes them pop. Try it out
definitely going to try and not submerge it I was worried when I saw it pouring water after your puled it out of the water. I worry about anything with a slide switch like that as is would have tight tolerances and an o ring in to prevent water but I worry about longevity of the water resistance over time of moving the slide. Otherwise love all their other products I have been using their baton series since ive been in the field and been loving it so well see if this becomes my favorite among the ones I have.
There has not been “a lot of upgrades since the original pro”. There has been a material change, a small textured grip change and different engraving. Incremental change and nothing more.

Idk I don’t think olight is listening too well…at least not to me lol. I want a version of this light that is as small as possible, doesn’t need to be insanely bright, no stupid uv, only green laser and white light, and under $60. I currently use Milwaukee’s edc light daily as a commercial hvac tech. It’s a great light. Only $50, battery lasts forever, rechargeable, I use it constantly, but I’d really like to have a laser. I have no use for UV though and I’m not paying over $60 for something that could get accidentally dropped down a duct or a wall where it can’t be retrieved.
Hey sootch 👋. I have had the arkfeld with the blue light option and it’s been a good flashlight . I hardly use the high power option as high is enough for my purposes . There’s the one with the laser pointer too but of no use to me . Also , the baton 3 with the case is a good one . Just my opinion .
I love my Olights but I hate their pocket clips. I've bought multiple clips for older models because I keep bending them and I finally switched to a Nitecore light because I just bent the clip on my Arkfeld UV and they're non replaceable. I'd rather have a beefier clip than the hat clip function. This light looks really cool though.

Magnetic charging is terrible to people who actually use their lights for work and not playing with the dog. Once it's dropped a few times and gets nicked up they don't make good enough connection to charge. If you want a light in the budget category like Olight at half the price, just go with Sofirn or Wurkkos.
That's what happened to my arkfeld UV 😢 but olight sent me a replacement unit. It's too expensive sending them mine from overseas, someday I might be in the US and see if its fixable.
For EDC the throw is just fine. You’re not going to be trekking through the woods with it, it’s just an EDC light for when you drop your keys in your truck between your console and seat and you need a light to find them. Or maybe you need a light to see the doorknob at night so you can find the keyhole. You’re not going on patrol with it or anything.
Love most of your content, but this pushing of Olight is bringing your credibility into question. I believe in the old "Cry Once" adage when it comes to equipment my life may depends upon, and Olight does not cut it.

Pug life!!!
Magnetic charging is terrible to people who actually use their lights for work and not playing with the dog. Once it's dropped a few times and gets nicked up they don't make good enough connection to charge. If you want a light in the budget category like Olight at half the price, just go with Sofirn or Wurkkos.
Never had that problem, but good to know. I would rather not have another cord to keep track of, so I prefer USB charging or batteries.
That's what happened to my arkfeld UV 😢 but olight sent me a replacement unit. It's too expensive sending them mine from overseas, someday I might be in the US and see if its fixable.
Ultra not listed on website
It has just been announced. They may wait until the sale on the 16th.
@@sootch00its now on the website👍
Not really an upgrade from the pro tbh and the throw is pretty bad.
So basically if you already own a pro then the ultra would be pointless.
Hate the strobe
Love most of your content, but this pushing of Olight is bringing your credibility into question. I believe in the old "Cry Once" adage when it comes to equipment my life may depends upon, and Olight does not cut it.
I agree, if you want a budget light go with Wurkkos or Sofirn, just as good at half the price.
