- "Former member of the special operations clandestine unit known as MACV-SOG. John ran missions as the 1-0 and 1-2 of Spike Team Idaho from May 1968 - April 1969. Following his time serving as a Green Beret in Vietnam, "Tilt" worked as a reporter and editor before devoting his efforts to the veterans community and working as a special operations history keeper. Thanks to the 20-year secrecy agreement expiring, he is now able to tell his story about the secret ops that occurred across the fence in Laos, Cambodia and North Vietnam." - www.jstrykerme...

God Bless you John Stryker Meyer. You are an American Treasure with a wealth of knowledge. You should be getting a Presidential Freedom Medal. Thank you for sharing your stories and experiences.
John Stryker Meyer your histories are legendary!
NO... really Captain Obvious. ? How so??!
This Man is a True Patriot God Bless Him...
And an Avenging Angel.
Absolute steel nerves. Dont know how men like him did it - truly remarkable.
Whenever I feel I'm struggling or going through some tough times I listen to the story's of men who fought in war. People who have endured great pain tragedy and loss. Thank God we have had so many amazing men to help defend the innocent.
I do also here are some audio books too
Nine years among the Indians, crow killer, river of darkness, emprire of the summer moon, a land so strange, meditations, and of course the story of Christ . Stay rock solid my dude
Love that man for his service to our country and preserving the history of what those brave men did .
Well done, Tilt! It's guys like you that put the "Special" in Special Forces. God bless you, and welcome home, Brother!
LtCol J.D. "Bear" Owen, (Ret), USMC, ANG, & USAFR, A-4, A-6, F-4
You are a legend and a true patriot Tilt. Vietnam veterans deserve better then and now 🫡
Holidays... I was strap hanging with a recon team of FOB2, summer of 68. We had spent the night about 50 feet off a trail(in Vietnam, not across the fence). The 1-0 had just lit a tiny bit of C-4 to heat his coffee. We immediately heard voices on the trail, and we went to ground. A fast mover(jet) had recently passed nearby, but no problem. Until someone dropped a cluster bomb on the far side of the trail. Nothing hit us. But we got on all the radios we had and ask anyone to stop the bombing. While we waited, the RTO at FOB2 said. "Oh, by the way, Happy Easter."
the bombing (just the one cluster bomb) stopped. Some time later, we continued on our mission.
Hollywood could NEVER EVER re-create what these brave men did. I don't care who is making it. John is a true Patriot. Always closes with mentioning the MIAs. Gone but not forgotten.
We’re making it (with Tilt and Lynne and co)
@b-52eggbeast88 well then it may just work! Best technical military advisors you could ask for. Glad to hear it.
I am so proud to call John my neighbor and friend!
Nice to hear your story John, after all your Sogcast interviews. Thank you.
Excited for this one as I am will all the podcasts Tilt does
I wish they could get a movie made from these stories! Or a series. God bless these heros!🙏🇺🇸
Happy holidays Mr Meyer.
Respect from Romania 🇷🇴
I started listening to this interview intending to finish it later. It was so interesting I couldn't stop until the end. Thank you John for your service. I served as an aircraft mechanic on B-52 bombers at U-Tapao Airfield, Thailand from Nov 67-Nov 68. My service pretty inconsequential compared to yours.
Merry Xmas John! Love your stories!🇺🇸🫡
Mr tilt I hope you have wonderful holidays I just found out in this podcast we share the same birthday. much respect from the pnw
I can’t imagine what it’s like when gunship arrives and starts…just think of the brass I coulda had to load.. but I’m thankful of those rds keepin a brother like tilt around. I bet the snakes got fat and tigers..
What a warrior
John i am no supporter of any war or military and i have no personal patriotism towards any country because of this but your words at the end of this regarding how you feel about us being divided as people by design and the wrong doings of our governments and media to divide us are truly great words spoke from a place of wisdom and truth my american friend. All human beings are one and we must stand together in peace now more than ever. we as the human race must all never forget the horrific reality of war and never let any person or any organisation continue to push us towards war. We must remain strong in the face of propaganda that seeks to divide us and provoke any violence. may your stories serve forever as a reminder of this and i pray we as people all over the world wake up and move quickly towards peace before its too late. Great words at the end john. all the best
You are a naive dreamer.
There are religious movements in 3rd world semi countries dedicated to extermination of other peoples and murderous dictators willing to send their own young men into meat grinders for personal avarice and glory.
It has always been thus and it is the duty of free people to fight tyranny and evil.
If good men lay down their arms and sing kumbaya, the human race succumbs to evil and destruction.
You need to grow up.
In 66 I was with G 2/4 near Danang when another Marine and I were on daytime LIstening Post just outside our company area to pass the time we took a hand full of M14/ 7.62 rounds took them apart replacing the powder with C4 and then dropping them in front of our position where the kids could pick them up. Before returning to company area I checked and all the rounds were gone. Several days later while on patrol we got ambushed and during that action there was a muffled explosion so we believe someone had gotten ahold of one of those tainted rounds.
Excellent!
Good stuff Tilt
I love this man
This guy speaks the truth. Too many of these special forces guys on RUclips now are All bullshit, everyone knows who I'm talking about. This guy is a hero, a warrior, a badass
One hell of a storyteller and a cool as ice recon 1-0
Great story. Thank you Sir. USA USA USA.
Welcome home tilt
Here, Here.... Mister Meyers... Americal 1970
Usually get rid of books I’ve read (space). Not Tilts- still on shelf for constant reread.
Is Cowboy still alive?
I don't think so
Last i heard he was. Although quite ill.
Tilt! Who made your CAR15?
That is brilliant. V..C. as your point man. No it's ok it's just one of us. Brrrrrrr.
I used to cringe a bit seeing Tilt everywhere on douchetube, but Really, I am proud of his service and am OK with him getting all the attention he can. He deserves it.
This dude rules
The incompetent team leader - if his team were conscipts (draftees) they would have terminated the person who was a danger to their health so they could do things proper.
Who is this host ? I hear almost nothing from him.
Well it’s not Rogan !
They don't make Americans like this anymore. I listen to a man like this, and then I think of the woke pukes that feed off of their efforts like leeches, and I feel betrayed.
When he seated that mag…. That’s the last thing a commie heard more than once from ol Tilt
Spider marks. Navy Seal?
Robert J “Spider” Parks. Sadly died in 2022. RIP
I would like to hear the influence of agent orange on SOG
SOG wasn’t in Vietnam
In any gathering of vietnam war vets there are always those who died or had terrible cancers and other problems from the defoliants. Multiple different agents, orange is just one of them.
Tilt and the Boys Need a Film about these missions!!!
It would be the most unrealistic REAL missions ever told. The masses would be stunned and they will get the Appreciation they didn't receive originally.🫡
