@lawrence1md you got me watching fuzzy & he uses one. Our mutual friend Chad C said you like you both like them. CDinVT uses them too. I said man I gotta try one. It was as good as you guys said! Smooth! Really enjoying all these vintage razors & it’s because of you guys.

@lawrence1md which one do you have? I just got a vc1 it’s way too mild. The vc2 is much much better for me.

Nice shave. They are cheap to find and not scrace. I would not delete the cut outs myself..I use the Feather blades for those. But if it works for you get it. I will probably talk bad about it though. Lol. You also made a good point. Open comb does not mean it's not smooth. Glad you're into these old things! Happy shaves to ya.

Nice shave John! Thanks for the info on modding the later hinged models. I had quite a few valet razors, I gave most of my later models away because of the blade situation. I'm down to now just a cased gold vc1. Thanks for the shout and I look forward to your review on the older model. Have a good one.
@cdinVT thanks for watching Chris. It’s channels like yours that show off all these cool old razors and peek my interest. Gillette gets all the love but valets and Gems are very cool too.
John, I have a pack of original blades. I just need a strop.
@robertlarkham2428 the one I just bought is coming with some blades. I’ve heard they are rough and usually don’t impress. Hard to say if the edge is too degraded on them to take a good edge or they were just shit by today’s standards 😂. It would be fun to try! The guy I got the razor from said he had the strop and he had a piece of leather that may work. Let me ask him if he still has it.
@@Stubblemeetssteel I’m a wood carver and have a strop wheel on a bench grinder for sharpening my chisels. Maybe I’ll try to sharpen one of the blades on the wheel. They are pretty thick and would be easy to hold with vise grips.
