I once played a ludicrous size map against 5 AI players on super hard (modified Ai) and basically used up almost all the entire maps resources Stone Gold and Trees. My strategy to win was as such. Early game was Basically FATSLOB method until I could get to imperial age.. then created a Y shape funnel for enemy troops to pour in being bombarded from both sides by rows of towers and castles. Each castle was surrounded by housewalls or other buildings to prevent them from easily being taken down by a random Ram Rush of which there were several. As for trebuchet I had multiple gates in my walls so I could quickly send in Paladins or Champions to rush in and take out their seige before retreating back . As the game progressed I made multiple auxiliary bases and would surround each small town with two layers of wood walls then each base had a dozen of each military building.. archery range, stable and barracks and 1 monestary for healing. I then expanded each based and made a grid pattern of walls across the whole map then when an enemy would attack I would attack their base from the back or side forcing them to return back to their base to defend it. When they returned back I would pick off a few troops with horse archers or onnagers from a walled position then run back to base. Little by little I'd edge my way in while at the same time I made sure to target their trade carts as a priority to cut them off from both resources and trade. After I was able to defeat one AI I made sure to preserve one of their markets to trade with and I heavily defended it. Then after each enemy push I tightened my grasp over their resources and would build another row of walls and housewalls .. then in a checkerboard pattern I'd place the housewalls in such a way to deny the enemy the advantage of surrounding my units with their calvary.. this allowed for me to target them with archers and scorpions from a point of safety. The last part was the hardest because near the end they wouldn't go on a long journey to get to my main base allowing me an opportunity to stike . Instead they hunkered down waiting for me to attack. But judging by their unit composition they were not short on gold having had a long time to stock up. So then because they wouldn't leave their base I would attack from the left side with cheap garbage units.. and then I'd send in a dozen or so bombard cannons to take out 1 or 2 buildings before they would divert back and quickly take out my bombards.. then I'd alternate the composition. Producing garbage on the right and bombards on the left.. then I did the same thing top and bottom.. and built walls closer and closer until they ran out of resources and had no place left to run to to get more, so even if they had escaped the box I trapped them in, I had already used up all the resources on the map outside the box making their efforts worthless. Props to the maker of the Ai because it didn't give up it fought until the very last pesant was killed 👏 👌 👍 It took me 27 hours
Never seen an AoE2 map so devastated of resources. It is like empty badly made fan map. When I played as a kid I was thinking about how the map would be ruined when I chop all the wood, but then that never happened for me. Also would have been nice to have some trees slowly growing. Imagine having an epic battle for a young tree at the other end of the map :D
can't even imagine. Last night when I was winning but didn't have enough gold to make siege, my opponent wouldn't resign, I went on tilt, lost some units to a mangonel, and ran out of gold. At that point instead of fighting a trash war I built towers and garrisoned them with all 85 villagers, went afk and made the opponent spend 35 minutes cleaning it up just to prove that my time was worth more than his. He apparently didn't know about spies either. I was surprised how long it took.
In german Warcraft 3, in the EPS no less (like german championship that offered a lot of money for the time), a player named Eric just build lots of towers, wrote "have fun" to his opponent and went afk. To this day that is one of the weirdest Esports-things that ever happened...
The fact that you can even get a match THIS close just goes to show that the AoE2 DE team do have something right... and a crapload of people to make it work ofc.
For me, it should have been a draw. I know Ruben has a different sight on this, but both cannot defeat the other one, as long as they are not afk. I think Andre was saying, that he offered Ruben a draw, but he didn't want to. IF this is true (I did NOT have confirmation), I am happy with Andre winning it. But, form a competetive point of view, it should be a draw in my oppinion. BUT I am happy that it happened, it was so funny and stupid tbh :D

Props to the maker of the Ai because it didn't give up it fought until the very last pesant was killed 👏 👌 👍
It took me 27 hours
IRL hours or game-time hours? :-)
THIS is Gaming History, you can't denie this fact. This should've been in the newspaper around the world.
Please at least cast the full first few hours, up until the stalemate began! We need to see how it got like this!
you see kids, this is what mutually assured destruction looks like
This is the most epic and crazy thing that has ever happened in the aoe2 community.
That Hussar dodging the castle arrows is true dedication.
The fact that you can even get a match THIS close just goes to show that the AoE2 DE team do have something right... and a crapload of people to make it work ofc.
This game is a modern art piece on the subjectivity of value, entitled "11 ranked points"
Thank you for saving us hours and hours and hours to find the highlights and explain!
This is like a real war with real sieges and everything. Lol.
98:14:53 - Andre Won, Ruben got Steam Vibe checked i think.
Yea
For me, it should have been a draw. I know Ruben has a different sight on this, but both cannot defeat the other one, as long as they are not afk.
I think Andre was saying, that he offered Ruben a draw, but he didn't want to. IF this is true (I did NOT have confirmation), I am happy with Andre winning it. But, form a competetive point of view, it should be a draw in my oppinion.
BUT I am happy that it happened, it was so funny and stupid tbh :D
Can you offer a draw in AoE 2? I didn't know that!
@@ottokarl5427 You can't.
Andre fell asleep 3 times during a ranked match against Ruben and still won. What a legend!
Someone needs to put this save data in a record book.
2 out of the three top streams on Twitch for AoE are them lmaooo
this game is going to be written down in the history books. from this moment forwards you will never be able to mention AOE2 without talking about Andre vs Rubenstock in February 2022.
I know that feel, I'm a FFA addicted, my longest has been 17h, but this deserves some true respect, I wish I was on it tho.
6:10 "if both players are at the computer"
me, the other player: *orders pizza for opposing team*
This 98 hour virtual war between two players lasted LONGER than the Anglo-Zanzibar war of less than an hour (!)
Deep in your heart you know you'd love to play a game like this
I would have the game sound on maximum on my speakers so that the attack alarm bell would wake me up. hahaha
Having auto reseed on their farms is what caused the draw, since they no longer had the wood to rebuild their monastary to recollect their relics.
This is why trees should very slowly grow back lol
I just started watching the longest game ever video from you, what a coincidence
This is amazing.
Still waiting on my Rollercoaster Tycoon video, T90. Never gonna forget.
I used to go hang out with friends at this guitar shop in town, and the owner was a super chill old guy who played this all day on a completely overkill gaming rig behind the counter, he also repaired computers on the side.
I went to their livestream few days ago and couldn't understand what exactly was happening... now I know 😂 thx for the video amazing crazy game 🤣🤣
Pretty sure Andre will win as Rubenstock's aggression will get his pop killed off.
A weird ass game and of course Rubenstock had to have some part in it :D
Always build a trebuchet and keep it garrisoned in your castle.
lol. You gave away intel info for both players :-D. Not that they need it. GREAT CONTENT. Thx for breathing life into AOE2 mate.
This game shows the concept of siege pretty well, which suits for the spirit of age of empires.
Let's go chop some green cubes
Was actually reading articles on this from random sites for the past two days. First itwas a 55 hour game, next one was a 70+ game, and now T90s vid saying 95 hours. Is actually the most famous aoe2 game out there
I though this was going to be a staged game when I saw the title, but it's actually a real game that had genuine reasons to end up like this :)
Legend has it, they are still playing till today.
(Xylor) Nice video T90! I appreciate and enjoy you keeping us up to date with what's going on, and finding the best quality and entertaining clips. Epic! Congrats to these players. I also acknowledge it beats my longest ever game, (vs legend Isit). keep up the good work! :D
The legend of Stalemate
Shoot, I wanted to highlight this, but I guess everybody already knows it! Haha nice one!
This is why we should reseed forests around the world. So we don't run out of wood to kill each other
age of empires, modern siege warfare. No sleep. No work. Food budget. Maybe even going to your opponents house to unplug his internet. You never know what can happen in a siege
Until Ruben's monk was alive he could try to hit once and run with his camel. I know it would take thousends of hits to destroy the castle but with his micro it was doable. Now I read that he was disconnected, unlucky...
