I'm so proud of BTS. From being literal nobodies from a small company in Korea, to rising so high despite all the negativity thrown at them. Seeing them be called "Next Generation Leaders" and "The World's Biggest Boy Band", it's truly a dream that none of us have ever dreamed of! Thank you so much for treating our boys so well and for acknowledging their positive messages and it's impact 💜
The BBMAs also occurred in 2017. But yes, I know what you're saying, and I know the huge wave of people flooded in after those events. Just wanted to comment there were many ARMYs outside of the Korean fanbase in the beginning too, even before all that. 👍
@KPop Rocks ! what are you talking about? I know alot of i-armys that know them from their pre debut they're called the OG and even called themselves bangstan before the name army would be announced so I don't know what are you trying to get from this and no i-army didn't come after 2017 when they performed even if alot of us weren't there before I for myself knew abt BTS in 2014 and started to support them as an army in2015 so plz don't start with this nonsense saying k-army i-army new army old army because guess what? WE'RE ALL ARMY AND WE LOVE AND SUPPORT BTS so stop this bs you're saying and go away cuz I don't get what you trying to do here. And don't make it as if one side of armys had to suffer in those days we all shade our blood sweat and tears. I don't who are you but your statement is insensitive and disrespectful when you know nothing.
@KPop Rocks ! You're not a BTS ARMY are you? I can tell you're trying to push your bs to us gtfo we don't need ppl like you saying nonsense when you know nothing and acting all high and mighty go away from here obviously you know nothing.
And news flash to you if BTS didn't have a solid western fandom which began from their pre debut days they wouldn't make it this far in the US the west & Europe etc. You should look at their nbers of sales in their debut album but since your not an ARMY but trying to make ppl that having a moment feel bad for no reason? You wouldn't know the number of sales for their old albums in the US.
I know a lot of people like to shit on BTS but if they were to just give them a chance and stop and look at the positive impact they have on people, young and old, they would understand why BTS are where they are today. You don't have to like BTS' music to respect them and their achievements. They have worked tirelessly and they're genuine about what they do. BTS are more than deserving of all the hype, love and attention they get. They have a message and a story to tell and I respect that.
for being old korean and same generation as yoongi's father, I am so touch by yoongi's comment. we were so poor, even though i lived in seoul, middle of myungdong, i remember many kids didn't have lunch and kids drink a water for replace the hunger, and when i came here in 70's lot of people asked me "where is korea? i never heard of your country. now bts became so popular and people get interested in korea which is so small country and being attack constantly looked down by china and japan which is still on, and bts popularity make Koreans feel proud and confident for their nation. THANK YOU TIMES AND BTS.
as a young korean-american, im so grateful for the older generations hard work and sacrifice for the future of korea and koreans, and allowing the generations to come to live well and succeed in this world. thank you
I'm a Korean- American born in the 21st century and def not a lot of people today truly understand how hard Koreans had it back then. I grew up listening to my grandmother telling me stories when she was growing up as she was born before the Korean War and she always tells me how she grew up hungry and that she wishes she had all the food and benefits that she gets to have today. Even as a young kid, many people ofc still didn't know much about SK unless it was about the Korean War or some particular event and to see so many people today want to learn about the culture, language, and history makes me super happy and proud to be Korean
Thank you so much for sharing your stories! On top of being so grateful for the incredible positive messages BTS shares, I am so grateful to them to exposing me to Korean culture. I think it is so beautiful and rich and I love learning about Korean history which is often sad, but also very interesting and inspiring. I thank BTS for introducing me to Korean culture, not just Kpop, but everything and also opening my mind up to be more interested and accepting of other cultures as well, no matter how different from my own they might be
this makes me feel happy:( the fact that the older generation have love and respect for bts it really touches me I wish everyone could read this comment thank you @cloy park for posting this comment
Tbh I'm not a kpop fan but I love bts. They're more than just some artists from Korea, they're beyond that. I fell for their sincerity in their music, performances, lyrics and most importantly their personalities
These are the same guys I saw at the UN with an incredible speech! They truly deserve the title of Next Generation Leaders, they are doing wonders to the world
I respect them and their work, as people from a different country but still making it worldwide it's amazing. The loving yourself concept is genius and inspiring, I am happy to see people using their influence for good. I've decided to be supporting them and their wonderful music! The world needs more people like them
To those naysayers, haters and critics who thought "how can a group of men from a foreign country change the world? ", you are looking at them and their fruits of their long, long labors are now finally bearing forth. To label them as "just another boyband" is truly doing a disservice to these leaders and trend setters. Yes, their music is catchy, hip and modern. So is their looks and creativity. But more importantly, what really differenatiates them is the message in their art, the example that they set for others to positively mimic and as true leaders breaking down barriers when there is one and setting one's path in spite of challenges and trepidations. Their involvement with the United Nations was not just a PR campaign. All of the BTS members truly believe in their message of loving oneself before loving others. No one before them have focused on that crucial aspect of life into the mindset of the youth. It maybe be a simple thing to do, but it really isnt if you think about it. That fresh perspective will change countless number of lives and their destinies. Thank you BTS for existing and thank you for using your platform to bring true, positive change to this world. We purple you.
BTS really starts from the very bottom, a small company lack of big money, networks, industry supports, got lots ridiculous bashings and unfair treatments, not an overnight success, they humbly walk their uneasy path step by step for 5 years. Too proud of them.
There's often misunderstandings when the media "tries" to reflect the youth and its concerns but I'm glad they chose BTS this time because the seven of them do are taking steps and speeding messages that can make this world a better one for the present and future generations with loving ourselves as a basis, BTS do are next generation leaders
I'm not even Korean myself but I'm so proud of their achievements and them being an ambassador to korean culture. I'm sure all I-lovelies are proud too💜💜💜
There's a LOT OF boyband in this whole damned world, but BTS attracts me with their talent, passion, dance, attitude and their personality. I'm so glad that now they're spreading their wings worldwide and more people gets to know them, NOT ONLY because of their music and looks, BUT ALSO because they do SOMETHING REAL. They're saving LIVES. And that's just amazing.
It is not about Korean cultural invasion. It is about the people. By that, I mean BTS. They represent for the youth around the world, not just Korean. That is why I support them, from the bottom of my heart. I would love to see how influential and inspiring they will be in the future. I am proud to stand, not the biggest boyband on earth, but the representatives of the youth in this decade. #LoveYourself
I'm Indian. And the best thing about all this is that, they're not just spreading Korean culture, they're inspiring us to embrace whatever we are, and our own cultures as well. As an Indian, I never felt how important it is to stick to your values and roots, despite of coming from a great country with an epic history and culture. Seeing them embrace their culture makes me wanna embrace and be proud of my own as well. They're making everyone stronger. 💜
Me as well, I've never really care so much about traditional clothes from my country, but recently I wear it more often and tried figure out different ways to incorporate them into my everyday outfits.
I dunno what you are talking about xD India is a country with lot of cultures and languages Please don't tie it down coz India has alot to show😊 We are just part of one of the cultures of India ☮️💜
Those are some real powerful keywords being emphasized by our Next Generation leaders. BTS has been living by their words and they are the apt ambassadors to take this to the next generation. 1. Teamwork 2. Positive values 3. Upholding your culture 4. Love yourself 5. Accepting diversity 6. Making parents and country proud
Not just the first korean group to top Billboard album chart. But the first Asian group to do so. Their influence, and the spread of their music surpasses countless boundaries. Im not korean but as an Asian im so proud of them.
I can top that! I experienced the Beatles when I was a teenager, and now I'm experiencing BTS at the age of 64. I have stayed in touch with "young music"all this time, and I can tell you that the basic impact is very much the same, even if the music has changed. Well, to tell the truth, it hasn't changed THAT much - I can still hear some of the Beatles' innovations in BTS' music. And music is music is music - I can easily imagine the Beatles performing some of BTS' songs, and vice versa. In fact, one of these days, it is my dream that BTS will cover a Beatles song. Jungkook singing "In My Life" - say no more! - All of them doing "Taxman" or "Day Tripper" - it could be magical. There's even space for a rap interlude in "Day Tripper" ...
How I love this comment so much! I wasn't born in The Beatles' era but I grew up listening to their songs because my aunt is a big fan of them and she has a collection of their tapes. Today in present time, I am a BTS fan and I can totally imagine how she felt during her younger days, fangirl-ing to her favorite band.
@@eupetrosarktou7866 you are the same age as my grandma! I introduced her to BTS but didn't seem so interested. Which was a bummer! I was hoping that we could bond over something but guess we both have different taste in music. You clearly have a great taste in music. The Beatles were huge in England back then. I remember learning about them in school. I'm glad that you got to witness the Beatles' success and I'm definitely glad that to know that you like BTS. You don't get many people from the older generation who like BTS! Most of them don't even know who they are! I'm curious to know how you discovered BTS! And i'm totally up for BTS covering one of the songs by the Beatles. That would be amazing!
Oddly enough, it was the Beatles who in a roundabout way got me onto K-pop and, ultimately BTS. I've always been interested in musical theory and harmonic analysis, and in a moment of madness some years ago I decided to harmonically analyze every single Beatles song, and during the process, rediscover my love for the band I loved when I was younger, but hadn't listened to for many years. I did this over a period of two years, and created a website around it (which unfortunately is not online at the moment) and during my study of "Come Together" I was looking for related stuff on RUclips, when I came across Sungha Jung's cover (he was about 10 years old at the time he did it, and it is amazing). I later found an interview with him where he was asked if he liked K-pop (I had no idea what that was!) and he confessed to being fond of BigBang. So I discovered BigBang, and later, EXO. I recall seeing BTS mentioned many times during my initial love affair with EXO, but for some reason I didn't listen to any songs for quite some while. Finally, one evening, I came across the MV for "Blood, Sweat and Tears" and .... I haven't looked back since. It so happens that I own and have read the complete works of Hesse, and read "Demian" many times when I was younger. I am also a great fan of the psychoanalytic theories of Jung, and immediately realized what an unbelievable treasure trove I had stumbled upon. Of course I soon discovered the BU and the complexity of all the interrelated MVs and short films. I find the whole thing fascinating, and exactly the kind of thing that really makes me happy. I love mysteries, complex puzzles, and non-linear narratives (and music, obviously). Today, I'm just amazed that all this stuff was there, waiting for me to discover it. I'm so lucky not to have missed it. So here I am, and my Korean is getting slightly more informed every day, although I doubt I'll ever be able to speak any of it. For the time being I'm happy being able to decipher the Hangul and analyze the harmonics of the music. It's the perfect thing to keep you busy in your old age. I can easily understand your grandmother, especially if she hasn't kept up with the trends in popular music. I've systematically listened to everything that has happened on the scene for 50 years, and that makes it possible for me to appreciate the latest trends. After the Beatles, folk-rock, prog-rock, disco, punk, bubblegum, grunge, hiphop, rap, K-pop (and various other types and subtypes too numerous to mention) nothing really surprises me in popular music any more. But BTS did. Not musically, perhaps, but because their music is a part of a much bigger artistic reality that includes everything from obscure literary references to humanitarian awareness. When I discovered them two years ago, I had a feeling something big was going to happen soon. And it's been amazing to finally watch it happen. It feels weirdly similar to what I witnessed back in the day when the Beatles changed the world. ###
If your ever feeling down, just remember that out of billions of years, your where born in a time where these 7 beautiful, genuine, heavenly angles graced this earth with their presence and love.
As someone who came from Korea when I was young and not having any sort of Korean influence in western society, I can say I’m very proud of how far BTS has come and what they’ve all been able to accomplish. They’ve brought a new culture into western society’s eyes and it allows for many people, not just Koreans, to look up to someone so powerful and humble. Even if you don’t like their music, I believe all Koreans should be thankful that BTS has brought so much influence into western culture. I wish them all the best!!
BTS is the epitome of disrupters by shaking up how one is expected to compete in the Western-centric music world by re-writing the rules of engagement, defying odds, challenging hegemonic norms & ultimately proving that good talented hardworking little guys can beat the Goliaths. They are true vanguards of challenging the status quo who make people become a little less cynical and jaded by what’s going on in the world right now. They are leading a movement and not a quiet one if you’ve been to any of their concerts. 😂
The moment when Namjoon mentioned gender identity I immediately teared up because gender identity is something I struggle with personally, so to know I have the support from at least namjoon that made me feel better, because I don't receive support from my family and I really look up to BTS so to hear a member say that just brought me to tears.
I'm honestly so happy that I have them by my side. A few years ago, I was in a traffic accident that made me unable to walk for a period of time, and caused me post traumatic stress that resulted in years of depression and anxiety. I have no word to describe how Bangtan helped me during my journey of recovering myself. They helped me more than my therapist, my family, and as much as my friends. Everyone bet that I couldn't go to uni bc of my anxiety, and I did it bc I told myself that Namjoon is going through hardship as well but do not give up. I told myself he would be proud to see me succeed. Every time I felt like giving up their music cheered me up. I ended up being a top student. It's still surprising to me to this day. If dope and nevermind weren't there at that time, to tell me I can, would I be where I am now ? Yesterday, I drove my car to uni for the first time while a few years ago I couldn't sit in one without having a panic attack. I obviously played BTS in the car. My dear friends were once again with me. They were there when they told me I could do whatever I wanted, and they were there when I did it. They will still be there tomorrow. So remember, you never walk alone 💛
BTS honestly changed my life. I fell in love with Korean culture and the language bc of them and moved to Korea. I have tons of new friends, a relationship, and soo many opportunities to travel and learn to understand and better myself now because of them. I don't really listen to kpop much anymore but I'll always stan BTS and be grateful to them for all that they do. I know some might think I'm crazy to move to another country "because of a band" but it wasn't for them or to see them it was something I had always wanted to do they just gave me a location and the courage to do it. 💜
jhomy Recalde If I can do it anyone can I think. I'm pretty social person so that's helped but I had never been on my own or out of the US before and I'm doing well. I'd definitely look into it! If you have any questions let me know:)
i cryed when suga mentioned how there parents were born during the war and hhardly had anything to wear or eat really proud of u boyz .u did it for ur hhappiness, ur parents happiness and armys happiness, always be in a special room in my heart u walked and fought by urself through this journey now army will walk with u in this journey holding ur hand
So, hard work does at last pay off. If you want to sit on a throne, you gotta fight for the crown. There's no success that is achieved easily. Blood sweat and tears my boys shed! No one deserves this more than you. I love you i love you i love you.
Just knowing Suga’s rough and broken past with his parents I love that he can say his work and BTS’s work has paid off to make his parents proud. All of their parents proud. I’m so freaking proud of all of them and they inspire me to be myself and to love myself every day.
As a person who's parents are born into war but not encouraging their kids to promote country i admit i started sobbing when hearing yoongi's words... I hope i can make them proud and think differently, thanks for saving my life and directing me towards loving myself boys... I will never be able to express my thankfulness but I'll always remember what you thought me: to love myself
BTS is just not any other group, trust me take it from a person who never really shows interest in a lot of things, i go from one interest to another because i get tired of sticking to only one thing, i discovered BTS when i searched for the top k pop boy groups in the internet they were listed at 2nd place. After a year or so my brother played a few Korean music like i need u and run by BTS i really liked it, and when i found out it was sung by BTS, i again started to search them, and slowly my little interest turned into an obsession, learning how they came from a small company, and doing things that defied the boundaries of k pop, their touching lyrics, their sincerity, their love for army, its been 2 years now, and im still here, i still cant believe it, and not a day passes by when i dont think of my 7 angels, hell i even made a twitter account only because of them, i know a lot of groups, but BTS, BTS is just different, they are so real, they seem to control their own destiny, and are free from the bondage's of k pop norms, believe me I would not have stuck around for this long if they were not playing a big part in my life. Well that was long i could go on for ages, but basically yeah they are the best, and if u have read this long comment, and stuck around, strong power, thank you.
omg everything in this entire comment is me i agree with everything u said i didnt like kpop bc i misunderstood kpop as just "cute" songs without meaning but bts changed everything for me yes ik now there are other great groups with great meaningful music too but its just that bts were the ones to get me interested in a whole new genre of music and culture its amazing that bts has that type of influence on us and its even more amazing that their music allow randoms strangers like us to connect even tho we've never met before and have no clue on who we are they give so much passion and dedication theyre music really is different but its also their message that stands out and their journey of how hard they worked to get to this fame and yet theyre all still humble -- I can't.
They came from nothing, were thought to be "nobodies" "rookies" "they're not gonna go far" "They're not even from Big3" and today are being called "The Korean version of the Beatles" ( based on their impact, not comparison- chill), "The most powerful boyband in the world", "Next generation Leaders", "The world's biggest boyband" and still remain humble and true to themselves. I'm so proud of them and how far they have come, and nobody- not even haters can take BTS and ARMYs down.
@Johnny No they are not overated....BTS deserves what they are now.The impact they have on people is just amazing.Fans(including me) love them not only for their looks but also for their music their messages and their humble genuine and kind personalities.Since they are always true to themselves naturally people will love them.
ARMY is the best thing that iv been part of, such a beautiful fandom. BTS has touched more than millions of hearts. They deserve great things after all of their sacrifice
Thank you for this TIME. I loved the boys' comments. It shows that they are not just idols, but are socially aware, and that they are proud of being Korean.
Namjoon and yoongi could make a teacher speechless during class oral recitation the way they organize their opinions and how fluent they are to express their thoughts 💜
I’ve never been this dedicated to a group. Like they’ve open up si many things about me while following them. They are indeed next generation leaders. As RM said, no one will put you down because you are small or young, eventually fools change the world and I believe that. He has said that before they even become famous and I’m amazed. When you really are sincere to spread positivity you get the recognition little by little.
This is a topic that I've actually never seen BTS talk about... How interesting to hear about their parents and what being a Korean is to them, in relation to the Korean war also.
They do this stuff, tour all around the world, practice dance, do V live to connect with fans, create songs AND manage to smile for us. I'm truly proud to call myself an ARMY.
I have to say. Different of a lot of others kpop groups, BTS has given to their company, bighit recognization, instead of the company do this job for them. They really deserves all of this because it was for their own merit, their life stories and pure talent catched a genuine audience. I am a fan and I am so proud of what they become. And I know, they have so many things to conquer. I will be there for them. BTS Army forever 💜
i dont like kpop but i just listen BTS I have tried to listen to many groups in the past but none of them have called my attention as BTS I guess that's why they are now my favorite boyband
Portia Alec what are you talking about? They are not that big different from other Kpop groups. Others are deserved to be a global sensation too. Don’t be ridiculous They are formed by the company and stepped on the same path like other Kpop groups
@@jheartu7036 Yes others deserve to be global sensation too, but right now BTS is the Global Sensation, if BTS have no big differences from others then there would be others that become Gobal Sensation along with BTS. Bts become the first global group from korea because their relatable lyrics, fresh music, good personalities, good attitude, great passion for music, great teamwork, nice company, nice producer (that let them free created their own music), work hard in everything they do, team put first than individual, still loyal to korean culture, and have freedom to communicate with their fans. Yes other groups have talent too, hard working too, but still BTS have something more to them that make us work our ass hard in happiness for BTS. Thank you.
@chawangchwang0218 I am sorry if you don't understand what I am saying or if you thought that I'm demerging other groups, I'm not. I am not putting BTS in other level, because they don't need me to do this. My comment was just an observation for informatives purposes (for those who don't know who they are), of what it's true in the history of this group, they have nothing when they start and this is true, I am not making this. In any moment I said other groups don't deserves the attention. I am a fan of others in small and big companies, and I wish one day they conquer what they deserves as well, and make their fandom proud, as I am as Army. _Peace._
BTS is always been my inspiration. They help me went thru my depression and mental breakdown throughout my medical school. I'm gonna graduate my med school in 3months from now. Thanks for accompanying my 6 years medical school. I'm gonna be a doctor now. Thanks for making me keep on fighting and motivate myself to reach my dream. I used to dream big, to be one of those world leaders and go to the UN and other world class conferences when I was a middle and high school student. But as I grew up, I stop dreaming and only think to pass my exams, grad, be a doctor and just get thru with life. But you BTS, give me hopes and make me want to dream higher again. Let's meet one day, not as BTS and ARMY, but as someone who changed the world. Let's meet at the UN conference, shall we? 💜 P/s: I'm still gonna go to your Asian tour concert first as my self-reward gift after my graduation ceremony and before I enter my hectic life as a doctor 😂💜 Please pray that I 'll get the tickets! 💜
Oh me too! Im in final year of med school and its so stressfullaf😭 but after a hard day bts really help me not go into a slump😪hope you get the ticketss!💜
This is so incredible, the Korean industry tries to pass a perfect image of the Idols as if everything was perfect and BTS changed that, their songs speak of depression, anxiety and so many other problems that we are living, I am happy that among so many singers who are only talk about money and cars, there are these guys to convey such an important message
my daughter loves them and has been a fan since 2013 she never stops talking about them and after thus i really understand why, they really deserve everything that they are getting! And I I found my favorite song fake love! I always thought bts were stupid and it would be a passive thing with my daughter but I'm do thankful it wasn't they saved my daughter from death and I really hope one day I van thank them for that, GO BTS AND ARMY
KPop Rocks ! "unlike other artists" wouldnt generalize like that. ive seen many parents/older people appreciate other artists as well, whos fanbase is mostly teenage girls, like with bts.
I am so proud to be an Army. BTS has changed me for the better. Through them and their music, I have learned to love myself and put my all into everything I do.
"It's too early to be awed, look out for my future I'll go toward the path of my success as much as u looked down on me" (BTS 'We On' song.. They wrote this song in 2013 which their debut year when people criticized them and laugh on them.. And look at today after 5 years.. But still some people hate them when they did nothing wrong for them..) 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
its really nice seeing bts gain recognition for their influence in spreading empowering messages to the youth of today! their music is powerful and really resonates with so many people, transcending barriers of culture and language~ thank you so much BTS and time for this interview!
Christine L I think they are contradicting themselves, cause the youth don't have the money to get surgery done on their faces to appeal to the crowds. Lol I mean their songs are good, but their message is contradicting.
GGGSayian im sorry u think that, bts have not undergone plastic surgery despite im sure the many pressures they face being in an industry which heavily endorses them to do so. theyre not contradicting themselves in the very least i can assure u of that as a fan, if you dont have anything nice to say then please kindly remove yourself from videos which are clearly about them, u dont have to watch them.
I love suga's way of talking about things and what he says, i always have the feeling that he's very smart and thoughtful and just deep, everytime he talks in interviews it's on point and also that he says the things he wants to say in korean so that he's really able to bring his views across instead of squeezing out a sentence or two in broken english, i like that a lot. No offence to the other boys tho, i love how their english is improving!
They are breaking so many barriers and still some people say, “so what?” Haters and non-fans can say whatever they want, but no one on earth can deny the positive social impact these guys are having on the world. True, there have been many talented artists and celebrities that paved the way for them but BTS is also paving that way even further!!~~~ They are positive and wonderful ambassadors for their own country and culture, ambassadors for the youth of our generation, ambassadors for Asian representation in a predominantly Asian-lacking musical/celebrity mainstream-scene, ambassadors for everyone to have pride in theirselves and be who they are. You can hate on them, you can not understand the hype, you can stay neutral and not care, you can not know who they are, but you can’t deny that once you actually give them some time of your day, you’ll really be impressed by the sheer amazingness of these guys. It’s undeniable and I’ve honestly witnessed this happening to so many people around me already.
That's why i was never interested in kpop no matter how people forced it down my throat everytime until my bestie introduced bts to me. Their uniqueness and brotherhood really draws me in and i don't think i can get out of this. I will always stay as army. And only army i guess 😔
Much respect for these boys going from 0 to a 100. I may not understand the lyrics because I don't speak korean but I know they are spreading a good message to people out here having a hard time. And when they themselves are having hard times they have the fans rooting for them. This is one case where they stayed humble with themselves even after the glitz and glam. And their fandom is also one of the most humble fandom i've seen. Again, much respect for them, their lyrics, and their fans.
No, there's already English subtitles on their music videos. Just click the CC button on the bottom right of the mv and English lyrics will pop up. And some channels also upload lyric videos with English and Hangul. Here's a playlist of BTS' songs with lyrics m.ruclips.net/p/PLTUeodHo-CH8dXaDzKnsXqcYna0WjH34j
@@mann7298 you are writing about UK Times newspaper ...totally different entity...this is the renowned TIME Magazine that did a brilliant writeup and promotion of BTS. Truly wonderful article. Love this short highlights video of the interview that led to more than one outstanding article wrote by this worldwide magazine.
Donna L. Padilla exactly why i commented. the og comment says time news, which to me sounds like the bad article in time newspaper. this is time magazine and i was questioning wether time magazine aka this one should be called time news since there is the newspaper thing?? your comment didnt really share anything new i didnt know..
I dunno why but I really proud of them. They're prove Us nothing Im possible when you're dreaming. They're break that barriers (even it's not easy with prejudice, racist etc). But They're keep flying higher with their fans (It's like they've their own world with their fans). I see them not just as an artist/musician but a person too. I just hope the best for them in the future!
Suga spoke. Suga SPOKE 😱. I love that he had such a meaningful thing to say and what he said is amazing. It’s hard to see the Korea of before and the Korea of today as one and the same. The incredibly rise in such a period of time, and the sacrifices made for it, make me hope that my own native country can leave the violence behind and be prosperous.
Amazing! So proud of these 7 men, who are impacting our world positively and making it a better place for all of us! I hope Bangtan reaches the heights if greatness!
"You show me I have reasons I should Love myself~" Thank you so much Bangtan for being the amazing role models and leaders in my life for a close year now. I have been through a lot and I know I can count on your music to save my day❣️ I will never forget December 7, 2017, the day I became an ARMY💜 Love, Genavieve.
Suga mention of the hardships of his parents and grandparents generation upbringing after the Korean War which was a little over 60 years ago is something all Koreans understand and share. It is incredible how Korea rose up from nothing in a short span of time . I can only imagine how proud his parents must be of them and that they represent our country in such a impactful and positive light makes me super proud of BTS of their accomplishments and to be Korean.
Here's what we have got so far. Not hating in other artists or celebs. BTS debuting 5 years ago. Coming to light 2 years ago in front of the whole wide world. Being the first kpop group to achieve many titles other artists or idols dream of. They are still so down to earth. Warm and humble. Except for their fashion they haven't changed even a shade. Jhope being always the sunshine and still is. RM great leader as always and a cutie. Suga always being the low-key heartstealer. Cute mushy and fluffball. Jin slaying the title worldwide handsome like he did then and even now the same. Jimin being the sexy cutie next door neighbour. V FOR visuals as usual and the weird guy in the group as always. Jungkook, the muscle/the golden maknae and real centre heart piece of the group. Sure they matured but they are still the same 'no more dream' era kids that we fell in love with. P.S.- my point is fame doesn't always eat up people. People take it the wrong way. Being famous or not staying humble as always is what I have learnt from BTS
@동주 I'm not saying other kpop idols are rash or anything. But them being able to touch so many hearts. That was the point. I have followed bigbang, papaya, girls generation, super junior and many more even before them. But the effect BTS has had in our hearts that's what I meant! No offense😊
Thank you TIME for recognizing BTS' hardwork and listening to their message!! Many ARMYs are willing to buy the mag so please make it available worldwide!!
Yeah there are other Kpop bands who are legends, bands who are kings and queens of Kpop, but BTS is BTS, they feel like old friends rather than unattainable celebrities
nah at this point it ain't even about kpop anymore these dudes have surpassed that horrible industry they're above and beyond kinda like the Beatles its truly outstanding never have I seen any group rise like bts.
can I have my wig back taehyung? Hey hi.. can you please tell me the inside joke about the wig? I have seen people people talking about it but never came to know the whole story.
I am so unbelievably proud of how far they've come. When they first debuted, their company was almost bankrupt, so much so that all 7 of them shared a one bedroom apartment and could barely afford 2 meals a day. They worked so hard to get where they are today and have poured their hearts and souls into all of their music and everything they do. It has been an incredible journey and these past 5 years have been the best years of my life. Watching them grow and achieve all that they have is so heartwarming and tear-jerking and I hope their futures hold even more success and joy. BTS, after all the hardships, doubt and struggle, you showed the world how with hard work and dedication, even the most unlikely of people can make their dreams and aspirations come to life. I am endlessly proud of you all and love you with all of my being. I hope only good moments bless your days. ♥
BTS has become Legend(ary)......not just icons not just kpop...not just super talented......BTS is where can you find the old the young beautiful people of all races all genders come together reach across seas....oceans to share their stories and part of their lives with others...as a child I could only dream of such a thing happening for me its my miracle that we as ARMY can share like this....I love BTS for their strength and willingness to share it....for their Love....for their sacrifices, commitment...determination...talent....and sharing the beauty that is Korea....if it is one thing that BTS has taught me it is this....Love can be many things...it is not skin color, its not gender, its not I win you lose, it can open your eyes, crumble lies, it can be compromise, it can conquer fears, Love can dry all tears, Love can be stronger than steel and give you iron will....Love can be all these things and more but Love is Strongest when given Freely....as they do everyday to ARMY....They are Legend(ary).... congrats again to BTS!.....Love BTS and ARMY!
This is such a proud moment for millions of BTS fans around the world, but also I hope it gives pride to the entire 'next generation.' We have spoken up on what kind of people we value and want to be leaders and the world is taking notice. My wish is that BTS will continue to inspire the world to be vocal beacons of light, self love, and charity towards others and that no matter your youth or how humble your background we can change the world by just having the bravery to be ourselves.
thank u for ur beautiful words our fandom is indeed a beautiful family united in our love for BTS, their words have such a deep and meaningful impact on our lives and you've summed that up beautifully :)
I've been a fan of these boys for four amazing years and they've accomplished things I could've never imagined back when they were promoting DARK&WILD... I'm so proud of them, they've entered a predominantly white western music industry thanks to their hard work and sheer talent all while being themselves and not ignoring where they came from! They've really opened a door here in the west for other Asian artists~ I'm looking forward to all the future has to offer them 💕
Ahhhh Time thank you for giving BTS the opportunity to be the cover of the magazine. Considering them as “Next Generation Leaders” is a huge honour. We’re used to seeing media outlets & magazines reducing them to a mere boyband when they’re more than that. BTS is a movement who’s goal is to tell stories with their music and also enlighten the world about societal issues that we often stray away from
I knew from the very first time i laid my eyes on them they were not your ordinary kpop act. Ive been a critic or a kpop hater before i met bts. I would always say kpop is very superficial but bts changed my perspective. BTs production talks about universal and timeless theme and is on another whole new level.
omg that's so perfect I hope someone just go to a fanmeeting or something and just tell them "for us bts means boys that saves" and explane why or something
Before I had no idea about South Korea, all i know was North Korea because of their nuclear and i saw them a lot on news, I didn’t paid attention much other languages music even when psy song become viral didn’t really like it because i don’t understand the language i was very immature that time but when i saw BTS won bbma awards that’s when i started searching them up on youtube and how they won against bieber, V was my first bias....and yeah that’s how i fall in love about south korea, them and their cultures!
My parents came from poverty too and it’s tough to think that you parents had a difficult time growing up. As their child you want to give them the world because that what you think they deserve. I’m a bit emotional right now because I can relate to them in this aspect. It’s amazing to seem them succeed and be able to give their family a good life. I’m happy for them
Suga and RM are really good speaker different language but they same iconic messages. Thank God for Hwarang for bringing me here specially Kim Taehyung 😍

KPop Rocks! AMAs happened in 2017.
And I know you said majority, but still very many I-ARMYs were with them far before that. ^_^
Is it just me or is Hobi getting finer every day?
He don't look hobi sometimes

for being old korean and same generation as yoongi's father, I am so touch by yoongi's comment. we were so poor, even though i lived in seoul, middle of myungdong, i remember many kids didn't have lunch and kids drink a water for replace the hunger, and when i came here in 70's lot of people asked me "where is korea? i never heard of your country. now bts became so popular and people get interested in korea which is so small country and being attack constantly looked down by china and japan which is still on, and bts popularity make Koreans feel proud and confident for their nation.

I salute you, very well said.

Those are some real powerful keywords being emphasized by our Next Generation leaders. BTS has been living by their words and they are the apt ambassadors to take this to the next generation.

2. Positive values
3. Upholding your culture
4. Love yourself
5. Accepting diversity
6. Making parents and country proud

My dad experienced the Beatles. I experienced BTS. ❤

As matter of fact yes!! I’d also love to see more influence from other places as well, and I hope to see a lot more diversity within western music
They really are the Next Generation Leaders. So genuine & so inspiring!

I don't really listen to kpop much anymore but I'll always stan BTS and be grateful to them for all that they do.

I think bts isn’t just a kpop group anymore. They have become inspirations and leaders for many around the world
I have tried to listen to many groups in the past but none of them have called my attention as BTS I guess that's why they are now my favorite boyband
I'm so proud of them and how far they have come, and nobody- not even haters can take BTS and ARMYs down.
ѕмol вeαɴ CRAZY SHIT MAN THEY CAME SO FAR LOOK AT THEM NOW
Foreigners make them a bigger deal than they actually are...and people just like them for their looks....
Lmao beatles. Keep dreaming army bandwagon
@@user-dd4rk5jg3l lmao
@Johnny No they are not overated....BTS deserves what they are now.The impact they have on people is just amazing.Fans(including me) love them not only for their looks but also for their music their messages and their humble genuine and kind personalities.Since they are always true to themselves naturally people will love them.
Yoongi never talks too much on interviews but when he dose it's always words of wisdom!
ARMY is the best thing that iv been part of, such a beautiful fandom. BTS has touched more than millions of hearts. They deserve great things after all of their sacrifice
Anna Vina I totally agree, I am coming up on my Fourth Year of being an ARMY and I am still loving them and their message more then ever!

When you really are sincere to spread positivity you get the recognition little by little.
.
Idk how they can manage to always smile like that:") i wish they are really okay... sometimes i just wanna hug them and make them rest a bit:")
Thank you.
@@jheartu7036 they are different from any other nations group and to other kpop act. No other groups tackled life phases like a book except them..
P/s: I'm still gonna go to your Asian tour concert first as my self-reward gift after my graduation ceremony and before I enter my hectic life as a doctor 😂💜 Please pray that I 'll get the tickets! 💜
I pray that you 'll get the tickets and reach to your goal.
Go!Get your ticket!♥♥♥♥
Praying for you!!! 💜💜💜
Oh me too! Im in final year of med school and its so stressfullaf😭 but after a hard day bts really help me not go into a slump😪hope you get the ticketss!💜
Proud of you. I hope you're going to be a great doctor who really cares about your patients. It's hard to find doctor like that these days.
THIS. People need to see this. That’s what bts stands for
This is so incredible, the Korean industry tries to pass a perfect image of the Idols as if everything was perfect and BTS changed that, their songs speak of depression, anxiety and so many other problems that we are living, I am happy that among so many singers who are only talk about money and cars, there are these guys to convey such an important message
that's what i always thought about them. so proud.
my daughter loves them and has been a fan since 2013 she never stops talking about them and after thus i really understand why, they really deserve everything that they are getting! And I I found my favorite song fake love! I always thought bts were stupid and it would be a passive thing with my daughter but I'm do thankful it wasn't they saved my daughter from death and I really hope one day I van thank them for that, GO BTS AND ARMY
KPop Rocks ! "unlike other artists" wouldnt generalize like that. ive seen many parents/older people appreciate other artists as well, whos fanbase is mostly teenage girls, like with bts.
how old i she cause i was there fan since 2013 too
i mean i liked them in 2016 but now i dont really like them thats why im so depressed pls help
동주 very confused why you added me to your comment?
lmao okay yes i was a bit confused by that but it makes sense now haha.
I am so proud to be an Army. BTS has changed me for the better. Through them and their music, I have learned to love myself and put my all into everything I do.
"It's too early to be awed, look out for my future I'll go toward the path of my success as much as u looked down on me"
(BTS 'We On' song.. They wrote this song in 2013 which their debut year when people criticized them and laugh on them.. And look at today after 5 years.. But still some people hate them when they did nothing wrong for them..)
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
a very good reminder. Thank you
its really nice seeing bts gain recognition for their influence in spreading empowering messages to the youth of today! their music is powerful and really resonates with so many people, transcending barriers of culture and language~ thank you so much BTS and time for this interview!
Christine L
I think they are contradicting themselves, cause the youth don't have the money to get surgery done on their faces to appeal to the crowds. Lol
I mean their songs are good, but their message is contradicting.
@@gggsayian535 *Don't Think* . Inform yourself first, to know if someone is being hypocritical. BTS-ARMY'S Believe in Sincerity. ✌
GGGSayian God racist
GGGSayian God ummmm ridiculous not all korean did their faces
GGGSayian im sorry u think that, bts have not undergone plastic surgery despite im sure the many pressures they face being in an industry which heavily endorses them to do so. theyre not contradicting themselves in the very least i can assure u of that as a fan, if you dont have anything nice to say then please kindly remove yourself from videos which are clearly about them, u dont have to watch them.
The fierceness in J-hope’s eyes, in the cover photo, captivated me for a little bit lol😳
I can’t wait to tell my future kids and grandkids that I was alive and witnessed the time when BTS was on top of the world
btspoppers sameee
Started from the bottom now we're here
I love suga's way of talking about things and what he says, i always have the feeling that he's very smart and thoughtful and just deep, everytime he talks in interviews it's on point and also that he says the things he wants to say in korean so that he's really able to bring his views across instead of squeezing out a sentence or two in broken english, i like that a lot. No offence to the other boys tho, i love how their english is improving!
Suga is one of those people who dont say what he doesn't mean. When he says something, he means it. He is a deep thinker, smart, and down to earth.
"Next Generation Leaders"
love the sound of it so much...
I started crying when Yoongi talked about their parents generation being born after the Korean War, and the difficulties that came with it.........
Yeah South Korea was economically poorer than North Korea before the 1970's.
true
BANGTAN is really a treasure of Korea
#NextGenerationLeaders
That's why i was never interested in kpop no matter how people forced it down my throat everytime until my bestie introduced bts to me. Their uniqueness and brotherhood really draws me in and i don't think i can get out of this. I will always stay as army. And only army i guess 😔
Well somewhere along the road you will get to know more groups and then you'll fall into a deep hole 😂
It's okay if you don't, too. You can try to discover more groups but if they don't suit your tastes, stay as a loyal ARMY. ❤
Make want you want. Try others groups also but if it don't interest you don't force you love BTS :)
Thanks all! I'll try to have an open mind and see if there's any other idol that suit me well :))
Suga little speech is so BEAUTIFUL
Great music and great message. BTS is a rare treat in this often cynical world. Thanks for the beauty guys!
Alex Rodriguez thanks dude 🙏🏼
No, there's already English subtitles on their music videos. Just click the CC button on the bottom right of the mv and English lyrics will pop up. And some channels also upload lyric videos with English and Hangul. Here's a playlist of BTS' songs with lyrics m.ruclips.net/p/PLTUeodHo-CH8dXaDzKnsXqcYna0WjH34j
My man Yoongi is such an intelluct like he always speaking things with great meaning. I could listen to him speak forever
Owwwww they are BTS! 🙌 THAKYOU TIME NEWS 💖for share this interview 🤗💕💕
isnt time magazine aka this thing a different thing to time news. wasnt time newspaper the one with the shitty story about bts?
❤❤❤
Yes our Seven Presidents of the world.
My Kings 😘
When Suga speaks...i eat his words as mantra!!!
Amazing! So proud of these 7 men, who are impacting our world positively and making it a better place for all of us! I hope Bangtan reaches the heights if greatness!

"You show me I have reasons I should Love myself~"
Thank you so much Bangtan for being the amazing role models and leaders in my life for a close year now. I have been through a lot and I know I can count on your music to save my day❣️ I will never forget December 7, 2017, the day I became an ARMY💜
Love, Genavieve.
Hanh Bangsia 👏👏👏
@동주 I'm not saying other kpop idols are rash or anything. But them being able to touch so many hearts. That was the point. I have followed bigbang, papaya, girls generation, super junior and many more even before them.
But the effect BTS has had in our hearts that's what I meant!
No offense😊
TOP COMMENT PLEASE!
Yoongi is such a good speaker. His voice is also so calming. So proud of them!
Thank you TIME for recognizing BTS' hardwork and listening to their message!! Many ARMYs are willing to buy the mag so please make it available worldwide!!
Yoongi talking about his parents makes me cry. Y'all remeber when they come to a concert and Yoongi did a full blow and cried?
It's heart breaking
:'(
Min Suga speaks such wise words
Yeah there are other Kpop bands who are legends, bands who are kings and queens of Kpop, but BTS is BTS, they feel like old friends rather than unattainable celebrities
I agree with this comment so much? Like they feel like family fsr even if I've never met them ( I know it sounds cheesy af but it's true)
Ikr, I dunno why but I feel like They're just like Us rather than being celebrities etc and maybe, it's one of the reasons people love them
its because of their sincerity
nah at this point it ain't even about kpop anymore these dudes have surpassed that horrible industry they're above and beyond kinda like the Beatles its truly outstanding never have I seen any group rise like bts.
'BTS is the first kpop group to top Billboard's album charts'
Say it louder for the people at the back💜
can I have my wig back taehyung? Hey hi.. can you please tell me the inside joke about the wig?
SO PROUD ♡
I'm so proud of them. They have achieved so much........Legendary Kings 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
They've really opened a door here in the west for other Asian artists~ I'm looking forward to all the future has to offer them 💕
Ikr, They're not just open the door for their fellow kpop idol but for asian artists too
RM is a great public speaker. Good job!

So proud of you BTS. You've come a long way but you're all still so humble and remained true to yourself.
I knew from the very first time i laid my eyes on them they were not your ordinary kpop act. Ive been a critic or a kpop hater before i met bts. I would always say kpop is very superficial but bts changed my perspective. BTs production talks about universal and timeless theme and is on another whole new level.

Before I had no idea about South Korea, all i know was North Korea because of their nuclear and i saw them a lot on news, I didn’t paid attention much other languages music even when psy song become viral didn’t really like it because i don’t understand the language i was very immature that time but when i saw BTS won bbma awards that’s when i started searching them up on youtube and how they won against bieber, V was my first bias....and yeah that’s how i fall in love about south korea, them and their cultures!
......how do you just not know about South Korea? ..a whole ass country..
