    I think its important for us to discuss issues like this, thanks Jake.
    And as to embracing a "celebrity" (especially one who really isnt vegan)for the publicity he or she might generate for
    " veganism" (apparently this is a loosely-defined term for this event's promoters) is a shallow motivation and one that will eventually backfire on our movement.

      or "can you not save 1 to save 1000" legaly forced to save a carnist dying

    Good questions. Snitching is a problem, we've had a mixed bag of snitching this last few years in the UK, which seems to be tied in with the newer/social media based movement. There seems to be a real lack of awareness of what snitching is, the forms it can take and the implications of it. I think it's down to us older and more experienced activists to reinforce the issue and explain it, probably as part of a wider security culture philosophy (newbies also seem pretty unaware of security too, smartphone tech, talking in buildings and over phones, etc etc.). Unless we tidy up the movement and re-introduce really really strict etiquette around snitching I expect to see lots more problems. We need maybe something very strong to put it in place, for example, in Manchester, many subway walls are sprayed with 'snitches get stitches', can't argue with that!!! It's pretty clear! Just sayin......

    It makes no sense to me that supposedly the people doing open rescue are more “honest” and/or stand by their actions more than activists who concealed their identity and did essentially the same thing…
    Why is it less honest when groups like the ALF rescue animals from labs and do it while concealing their identity? Personally I see the latter as more honest because only someone with very pure intentions would engage in this without recognition, whereas with the recognition… the intention behind the action starts to get muddied with people’s egos, activist celebrity status bs, etc.

    I was at the action where the police were called. I live in Mexico and can not take high-risk action. I was in a car with 3 immigrants. The person who called the police puts us all at risk. • @jvegan303
      @jvegan303 Год назад

      The person who called the police is the survivor of a DXE human trafficking scam. Nathalia isn't an infiltrator, and she didn't put you at risk. She called police well in advance of the scheduled action, as a way of preventing a dangerous situation before it happened. Nobody claims that her calling the police was the right choice. But it's understandable why she did it, and she deserves sympathy, something that your narcissistic sociopath high control group can't understand.
      And Jake, why are you blindly consuming the DXE narrative? Did you at least try to talk with the trafficking victim who called the police and hear her story?

    • @thecrankyvegan
      @thecrankyvegan  Год назад +5

      I'm the last person to blindly consume a DXE narrative. You don't have to look far to find my feelings on their strategies and tactics. But both sides of this story has said the same thing - she called the police to try and stop an "illegal" action activists were doing in order to stop something she felt was dangerous and disagreed with.
      In a situation like that, IMO, that's snitching (I didn't say she was an informant, and nor would I with the information presented) The other pieces of her story sound tragic and, honestly, doesn't really surprise me. But it doesn't excuse the action of calling the police on other activists because you don't want them to engage in an action.

    Open Rescue appears to have so much potential that for those willing to do those actions should pursue it to see where it can take us. We will probably know in 5ish years the effect it will have. They are riding the recent not-guilty verdicts. If those verdicts keep happening and open rescue becomes bigger, I could see it as a major tactic. If those recent verdicts were "guilty" verdicts, Open Rescue would already be dead.

    • @thecrankyvegan
      @thecrankyvegan  Год назад +7

      Open Rescue has been going on for decades, all around the world, including in the United States - it's not a new tactic or strategy by any stretch. But what if it becomes a major tactic? Does that mean more rescued animals? And if so, where do they all go? Who funds their lifelong care? Who is doing the lifelong care? I'm very pro-liberation, but using it as a major tactic doesn't seem feasible or realistic. And if the goal is to document or reveal or disrupt these places with open rescue - then, again, we have been doing that for decades as well. A "right to rescue" doesn't really change that.

    DXE and honesty don't belong in the same sentence. The young woman from South America whom you call a "snitch," Nathalia N. G., was the target of a DXE human trafficking scam, whereby Wayne Hsiung suggested she marry either Paul P or Rocky C, so she could get a green card. Perhaps you should have some sympathy for this young cult survivor, who might not understand the problems of police culture in the USA? Maybe she felt frustrated, with no other way of exposing a corrupt organization than to call the police? You can disagree with her choice, but please don't label a sex-trafficking victim as a "snitch." That's just part of the twisted DXE narrative.
    DXE is well known for recruitment via green card marriage. For example, Almira Tanner got her green card by a scam marriage to DXE co-founder C Van Breen. Almira took a plea deal in this case back in January to avoid deportation, as reported in the _Santa Rosa Press Democrat_.
