    Did you find the video helpful? And what is your best advice for other eBay sellers? 🤔 Let me know ⬇️⬇️

  • @flipperj394
    @flipperj394 4 года назад +11

    I like watching you because your vids are not all about - this is what I sold blah blah blah. Watching what people sold and how much for can get very boring. I rather gain knowledge from sellers like you and implement that knowledge into my business to improve myself. What sold vids are ok once in awhile but not every video. Thank you again. Keep up the good work

      Cheers mate, I appreciate the support. Totally agree - what sold videos have their place (I do one every 2 weeks or so), but, like you, I enjoy watching videos that help me improve my eBay business most 👍

    Hi Samson, I'm 62 and slowly building up a stock intending to start an ebay business in the very near future thanks to your videos and the inspiration I get from them. If I ever need a question answered I just look through your videos and usually find the answer. You are doing a great job and would like to thank you for the time and effort you put in. Many thanks, Dave.

    Nice to hear you mention 'being too old'. I'm retired and been on eBay since 2004. Decided to start selling again in March this year. I'm 75 on Monday and having a ball. I try not to beat myself up too much and just enjoy the sourcing, listing, packing. Sales are slow atm but them's the breaks. Love your videos and always learn something new. Thank you Sam.

      Hi, Glad you enjoy my videos. Age is definitely not an inhibitor to success on eBay! And don't worry, I feel sales are starting to pick up big time for this Q4.

    Great tips. I also block buyers who ask weird or repetitive questions. You just KNOW theres going to be an issue when their item arrives.

    • @SamsonTV
      @SamsonTV  4 года назад +1

      Absolutely, I rarely ever actually sell something to someone who asks 3+ questions, it's not worth it.

    • @Narbyful
      @Narbyful 3 года назад +1

      Yep. And there's a difference. One person asking "weird repetitive" and one sweet dude said he loved the vintage rock band shirt, but he's broke. Could we work out a better price. Hey, I've been there. It wasn't a wild, rare shirt. So we did and I got probably the nicest feedback ever. You know which ones toss up the red flags. Block 'em.

    I enjoyed this video so much, largely because I'm excited to see someone learn as you have, so early in your ebay career. I've been working with ebay since its infancy in 1998. RUclips is such a boon to us all, as much that we learn, as we do here, we had to learn then though rough trial & error and slow research. I could talk for a week about it, but as briefly as I can: Yes, block people. I have heard countless times "oh, I don't want to upset someone." Folks. There are a gazillion buyers out there. If someone is giving you any sorta trouble, they won't change once you start doing business. Block them. If you were standing next to someone at the bus stop and felt that way, you'd leave or move. Also, the point of valuing your time has been a hard one for me over the years and man, my husband (a phD in social psych, so he's kind of an expert here) has hammered home again/again that it's ok to just toss something if it WAS valuable, but the trend has changed. Re-donate it and move on. ALSO - you bought it for $1, you sold it for $15 and they hate it or found a flaw. Do a refund, get your fees back and let them keep it. Get it off your head, make them happy and move on. This is ALSO under the heading of valuing your time. Finally, (and there's more I love in this video, but I'm writing a book...) turn off the notifications and designate times, as you mentioned. Do we love the rush of "ChaahhCHING!" Sure. But you are VERY right. It interrupts what we were doing, and does derail your productivity. Ok, Message over. If new folks listen to your rundown, I promise, they will be so prepared. I can tell you: it took me years in the beginning without resources to learn all this. And I didn't think of the "turn off notifications" advice. That's outstanding.

    Sampson,
    Nice Job and great insight.
    Thank you for sharing these topics. It seems like every issue you talk about I have learned the hard way.
    A new trend I am experiencing is the Scammer who wants to purchase an item for more then you are asking and wants you to text them off line. Or the person who low balls you - you inturn accept the offer and they never pay. Tyng your item up for a few days. Why?? What satisfaction do they get from that especially when you are cordial, polite and accepted their ridiculous offer to begin with.
    Anyway, thank you again, keep them coming and I will keep giving you the thumbs up!!

    As someone who is new to eBay I'm planning to open up my store sometime around December. I used to sell items mostly collectables on Trade me NZ and became a trusted seller. Now I want and will upgrade to eBay. How I made trust on ebay was I began as a buyer so people can get use to me. I paid quickly and gave reviews and now I want to start selling.

    One thing I've heard time and again is fear of failure. This is taught to us from an early age in school. You're expected to score high on every test and failing is the worst thing that can happen. In business we've learned we're going to fail, as long as you learn from it. I once tried to sell fine china. Besides being breakable, the shipping cut into profits way to much because after you've wrapped and double boxed everything, the box was HUGE! Lastly, it took forever to sell, that's how I learned about sell through rates. I call a loss of that type " tuition". I redonated what was left and moved on.
    .

    • @SamsonTV
      @SamsonTV  4 года назад

      I appreciate your insight, sounds like it was a good decision to redonate the extra stock and move on. Clearly it was an important learning experience. Thanks for watching as always!

    Don't you worry that simply going along with lower cost returns will lead to you being scammed? If I sold a $20 item, and refunded the amount without getting my item back, the buyer basically got a freebie out of me if they were being dishonest.

    • @SamsonTV
      @SamsonTV  3 года назад +1

      That is a fair point, I actually talk about why I sometimes do this in the video I will be releasing later today.

  • @angelawhite7140
    @angelawhite7140 4 года назад +2

    I am going to respectfully disagree with you on refunding returns for less than $20 & letting them keep the item. In my opinion, this is just encouraging scammers! They have learned that they can get partial refunds or full refunds from sellers that do this. I don't care if I sold something for $5. If the buyer isn't happy, I will absolutely not allow them to extort my item or $ from me. Everyone is entitled to run their business the way they want, but I encourage resellers to not train bad buyers please.

    • @SamsonTV
      @SamsonTV  4 года назад

      I see your perspective. If the return is blatantly flagrant then I won't accept it. However if it is a cheap item (under $20 approx.) and something I cannot prove false, I will usually refund.
