Everything Lee is saying now was said by Turkish months ago including Havertz, transfer window etc. It took him Liverpool being 9 points ahead & Saka being injured to finally be worried.
Anyone saying we won’t buy a striker in January obviously doesn’t realise we have 80m saved up towards the transfer budget from the hot dog stand … £15!? That’s crazy!
For the majority of the Emirates era we have had an average defence but a much better attack but now we're at the point when we actually have a much better defence but an average attack.
That’s how the cycle goes , by the time we fix up the attack we’ll have midfield issues. When that’s fixed the defence will be a problem again. That’s just how Arsenal operates
"average attack" scored the most goals in the premier league this season. Look I know we need an attacker in January but in no way shape or form is this an average attack.
Injuries happen. If Arteta doesn't play Saka and we lose fans will still moan, so this is just being wise after the event. Top teams play their best players every time. Liverpool play Van Dijk and Salah every match and they are in their 30s. Man City play Rodri every time when fit

@@voicereason6165So it was necessary for him to bring Saka on 3-0 up against Bolton? There were a lot of games when they were 3+ goals up or against significantly inferior opposition and he didn’t take him off. To anyone who’s watched football for long enough this was easily predicted.
I’ve heard a lot of people saying Saka’s injury isn’t Arsenal’s fault. (And Mikel’s) And then comparing Saka to Salah, saying Salah plays the same amount of minutes as Saka. Drives me crazy. Context matters, people! Salah is in his 30s. He hadn’t played anywhere near the amount of minutes by the time he was 23 as Saka has. Particularly at a high level. Whether Saka’s injury is Mikel’s fault is kinda besides the point. Saka has been playing 60+ games a year for Arsenal and England since he was 19. You can’t be putting that many minutes on a young player and think they won’t get injuries as they get older. It’s unbelievably reckless. We’ve seen it over and over again across Europe. Salah had years to develop properly and has only been maxed out on minutes played since his mid 20s. Even Messi had his minutes managed until he was roughly 21. Additionally, it’s not just minutes played. It’s the systems that they play in. Salah doesn’t do the defensive work Saka does. Saka’s defensive number are on par with most full backs across Europe. That’s madness! You need to be able to rest your best players and still win most games. Liverpool won the UCL back in 2019 without Salah and Firmino. We’re struggling to score against Ipswich without Saka. That’s a problem.
Also Saka went off in West Ham game clutching his hamstring yet arteta just kept playing him without rest now he has agrivated that injury made it 10 times worse and potentially affected his availability long term
@@TheZomboy11 We are 2nd in the PL despite all the injuries and red cards, 3rd in the CL table, and into the Semi Final of the League Cup whilst having the most points, most goals and least conceded of any team in the PL in 2024 and we are coming off a season where we had the 2nd most points and most goals scored in our history in the PL and your calling this man a virus LOL?. I agree he needs to win something this season or there should be questions on his future but to say he is a virus is a BIG overkill....please have some perspective.
I don't think the club sees us needing anything. On the face of it, Arsenal are currently 2nd. Good CL position. Using youth. Selling out training kits. Selling £15 hotdogs. Top 4 is probably a guarantee, so why would they spend any money? If I was an owner with the Kronke mindset, I'd be happy right now. Nothing is going to happen unless seats are empty again 🤷🏻♂️
We all know the problem won’t be fixed in January properly. Leaving us with even more work to do in summer The work then won’t be done in summer and the problem goes on and on
Everyone used to say to me to get on the arteta train. For the first 2 years I wasn't buying a ticket, he was doing an ok job but wasn't there. 2 seasons ago I was coming around and was more than happy to be proved wrong and jump on board. This season having got my ticket and was excited .... I've realised on board that the carriage is full of ish and I'm pressing the botton and getting off at this station.
I hope Jordan got some Bluetooth headsets for Christmas…that wired iPhone cord rubbing on his beard is pure hell for those who listen with their headsets 😁

I blame all this on Lee, it is your fault Lee for not ever buying a hotdog, how to do expect us to pay out for a forward when you won’t put your hand in your pocket for a hotdog !
30:09 Thank you Turkish. I don't know how any Arsenal fan can argue with that. Make him the highest paid player after what he's done at Chelsea and paying 65M when he had 1 year left on his contract makes zero sense. Every Arsenal fans were saying it at the time as well, but some choose to trust Mikel and here we are... I can't believe they did this after all the good work to get back to a challenging position. How can you be that incompetent, it makes me sick honestly. You don't take a gamble on a player like Havertz, like, it's ridiculous.
Just a little correction that im not sure of it 100 percent, but i think they renew his contract before we got him(Havertz). Also, His salary now is what it was also at chelsea, he didn't asked for a payrise, wich shows he was exited to come here and wanted to facilitate the move. However, i agree with the rest, stupid signing, the salary and the fee dosen't match the output by a country mile. Big gamble, a stupid one imo.
@YorkshireTracklists Havertz has 16 goals and 8 assists in his last 29 Premier League matches going back to February 2024. Put those numbers next to the names of Isak, Gyokeres, or Watkins and people would not be having this conversation.
Mate, we spend 700 mln while being 7 years out of UCL. Revenue wise we are the smallest club in top 6, even Spurs are bigger. Its shock we didnt have point deducted for overspending. You lot need reality check about actual size of this club.
It’s scary that Turkish has been so consistent that we can almost predict what he is going to say and he’s right. He has been pointing out the trickle down effects of the Kroenke business model with Arsenal
Loved lee’s point about how our board loves to market our merch on our players for an insane price but then will turn around on the fans and say they don’t have money to spend on January
As far as I look on it, League Title is out of reach. But we still have 3 other trophies to play for. And I don't think Arteta has much time left to produce hardware. He has had plenty of time and money to build the team he wants. Yes we have had injury problems but so does everyone else. Buy the striker in January, push for the 3 trophies this year. Go for the league title next year, which will be the final chance he has IMO. Players like Saka will want OUT of Arsenal so they can actually win.
Just past midnight, watching the best pod from Australia. I watched the Ipswich match with my 1.5 year old son in the morning (7am for us), the poor kid almost fell back asleep. The last time I was at the Emirates was 10 years ago, and the way we're playing right now, having a few beers with Turkish, James, Lee and Jordan is a lot more enticing than going back to watch us live. Getting up in the middle of the night and staying up late has been bloody hard this year. Fingers crossed we do some business in Jan and can win something this season, the fans deserve it. Thanks for the pod fellas, it helps us non-Brits feel connected. COYG
Lee is spot on about it feeling like the NFL in the Emirates now. The Kroenkes are just americanising everything to do with Arsenal, and it stinks. Got the players walking onto the pitch in f*cking bomber jackets, smh.

Listening to everyone echoes of last years of Wenger, the difference is Wenger could build attacking units but not Defending and Arteta opposite can build a defensive unit but not attacking unit. The result is same mediocrity and nearly men.
Thing is we need a winger and a striker minimum before the Saka injury and that’s not even touching the attacking midfielder options. Realistically we won’t sign anyone…
Lee: 'apart from the goal I didnt see anything'..... apart from Rice's volley from corner, Gabbi's header, Jesus scoring but him being just offside, shots from Oedegarde and others blocked... blinkered complaining
22:17 Turkish is spot on! Moved from highbury to here! We didnt have a good transfer window probably because of stadium renovation plans. Dono how much would this cost. But kinda looks like the history repeating itself.

@@izztv156who does? It’s either the owners that don’t wanna spend and give Arteta the money or it’s Arteta that don’t want a striker or winger who ever it is if we end up with no trophies they need to leave
Is Havertz drifting out of position off his own accord, or is Mikel asking him to drift out to the right to link up with Odegaard? Even if we did sign a clinical 9, would Arteta let him stay in the box ?
What really gets me is the fact that we are second in the league. There are too many fans losing their heads. Why don't we just wait until the end of the season, then we can give judgement ?
Honestly speaking taking out Saka out of the attack makes our attack bang average, specially when Saka not only scores himself but creates chances for others. So this attack doesnt scores multiple goals against 19th place Ipswich at HOME let alone winning the league.
I hope this game was a drop in performance because of Christmas, often teams have drop in performance over this period ! Result is the only thing that matters !
While I don’t disagree with some of the points regarding the lack of transfers. This pod seems fairly extreme. We are second in the league, Havertz has scored seven goals, but according to these guys he is the worst signing?! In what world is this balanced analysis? We are also the team that has let in fewest goals in the league. Also, football players are human beings, not machines. Every game cant be a 5-1 drubbing. Especially difficult to play against a team with a low block. Liverpool barely scraped a win against Southampton, bottom of the league a couple of weeks ago. Jordan is the most deluded pundit on youtube critizing a 5-1 win and Harping on the lack of output Martinelli had when he had an assist and a goal. Where is the balanced analysis?!
@ Yeah and fair play to the them. They will probably win the league, but hey if you like childish analysis that states that we are crap and they are good. This is the pod for you!
@@RyanHust that 5-1 was the most deceiving 5-1 you’ll probably ever see. Palace should have been 2 or 3 goals up in that first half. Would have been a completely different outcome if they scored their clear cut chances. AFTV is one of the few channels who attempts to put a positive spin on things and ignore red flags. You’re not looking for balanced analysis, you’re looking for PR.
@ Dont need PR m8. I accept there are challenges ahead. I deal with facts and not what ifs like you do. We are 12 matches unbeaten. Two draws and 10 wins. We did win that game against Palace. There are plenty other podcasts that are more balanced like the Canon podcast, gunnerblog etc. I like Aftv. Like raw emotions from fancams and james tactical analysis. But this pod is the worst!
Everyone says we need a world class striker. Whats the point buying one with the way we play? We play a way that wouldnt suit s striker. Our centre halves and goalie spend most of the time with the ball. Our wingers dont create, odegaard and saka are relied on to do too much.
Yep, but we also saw havertz play there and score a lot of goals for us. The idea is the striker gets us 5-10 more goals in games where we are struggling
I’ve been saying for a while that we need wingers and attacking mids more than striker. Striker is a problem for sure but the chance creation is a much bigger problem
Rory Jennings gave a better analysis of this game than you guys. He applied some context which I think as a fan you’d understand and get behind the team. We’ve just lost one of our most important players in Saka and it’s a busy schedule in which we faltered last season. Last night wasn’t about entertainment, it was about 3 points. We got the 3 points and onto the next one. Not every game is going to be about creating loads of chances and scoring lots of goals. It’s going to be about the uneventful 1-0 wins. Job done and move on. If you’re looking for a season defining statement within this context then I don’t know what to say.
You understand it's not about one game in isolation but a run of games we haven't been convincing, that the fans are concerned about. Performances and chance creation matters.
@@dennismuriuki4202 Yeah it does matter but I think putting that expectation onto this fixture at this time was wide of the mark. We’re 11 unbeaten in all comps and haven’t conceded at home in the PL since the Liverpool game in October. If we beat Brentford which I know is tough then we’ll have got 39pts after 19 games. Last season we had 40pts after 19 games. Ultimately we finished on 89pts and of course that was helped by a great 2nd half of the season. A trip to Dubai and moving Havertz up front made us look a lot stronger in that 2nd half of the season. Who knows if Arteta has something else up his sleeve to give us that extra push for the last half of the season? Of course this season we’ve had more injuries to key players than last season which hasn’t helped. I just think we need to put more positivity out there as fans. We’ve got favourable fixtures to help finish in the top 8 in the CL and the EFL Cup semi final to look forward to. COYG!
@@Boston_Thomwould Bayern, City, Liverpool, Madrid, Barca, Chelsea ever consider signing a player like Semenyo? The answer is no. It’s not intended as disrespect to Semenyo because he’s a good player, but we have to start holding this club to higher standards and expectation
This is the most accurate summary of the Havertz signing. He’s a player you’d sign if you had the chance to have a 12th player on the pitch. Good all round but lacks the aggression of an 8 or the goal scoring abilities of a 9.
It’s very simple . Arteta sees himself as an innovator and wants to win the League with no recognised no 9 and then is able to say to everyone how ingenious he is and told you so. It’s a psychological flaw more than anything else. Neutral observer. Love listening to
This canard of “over playing” Saka is just that. Top players on any team are never rested or rotated, unless they’re nursing an injury. I don’t remember Messi, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, etc sitting out games to avoid over playing. Saka is as important to Arsenal, just like those guys were to their teams.
Im an Arsenal fan and it’s time to accept this club has no ambition to win anything and challenge with the best. The ownership is rotten to the core, along with the stadium, the mindset and the players. We really are “nearly FC”
They've invested £650m into the squad. plenty of clubs would kill to be in our position. Just ask Everton. Its not the ownership's fault that Arteta has stacked up on defenders instead of forwards and its not their fault that Zinchenko, Martinelli and Jesus dropped off
Can’t keep throwing a man 200 million and the squad gets worse, the worst thing the owners did was giving him a new contract, they’ve spent more than most big clubs and got no return.
Possibly teams have sussed out the system based approach from Arsenal and City this season and thats why both teams are struggling. I think it has a big impact on the forwards. I can see similarities between Grealish and Martinelli. Those players thrive in more chaotic games but both are asked to play a system they are not comfortable with. Everything in football ends and maybe the tactics used by Pep and Arteta has run its course.
I love Turkish but the only counter argument to his rant about forwards is if you look at Liverpool this season, from a stats perspective, it’s only actually Diaz and Salah consistently contributing. Gakpo 4 in 17 with 2 assists, Nunez 2 goals, 2 assists in 14 so ultimately what we need is a starting left winger and a starting striker. Trossard, Martinelli and Jesus can make up the rest but on the latter two’s wages, should be sold at the end of the season although I suspect there will be no takers unless they are both willing to take a cut
You completely lost the point.Even if Salah and Diaz do not deliver then Gakpo, Jota or Nunez will come from nowhere and save the day like the Leicester and Fulham game. And that is what you simply lack. The options which we have up front.
Very dumb to count games played for players who are substitutes. Even being subbed on with 5 mins to play is considered “1” game played. It’s called depth, and Liverpool have the ability to bring on strong attackers, which arsenal dont.
@@stavrosaristidou5779 we both had the same attackers last season and finished above you. The difference this season ultimately is Salah but also kudos to Slot for making you better and maximising many of the players. If Klopp were still in charge, I suspect you wouldn’t be doing this well
I think the performance was in purpose. Slow pace nothing crazy. After the Saka injury Arteta doesn’t want anyone else going down. They knew Ipswich would sit deep so just pass the ball around and wait for an opening. We got the result, if they scored at any point we would of seen different. He made 2 subs really late in the game as well, which surprised me.
I’ve been following Arsenal closely for about 10 years now, so I think I fall in the younger generation category of fans that Turkish talks about. I’m finally starting to understand what he means. I always thought he would get too upset about the ownership or how are seasons finished, but it really has clicked for me this season. This January is the biggest window of Arteta’s time at the club because we have failed in the past 3 windows. I don’t want to hear that “the right profile wasn’t available” when you could have your choice of profile this Jan! Love the pod fellas, you guys have the best one out there.
Havertz is no way near Artetas worst signing. He wasn’t just brought in to be the 8. On day one Arteta said he would be tried in different positions because of his versatility. Without Havertz winners last year we wouldn’t have even been in a title race. Time and time again Havertz was the player of the game and a huge reason for wins. He’s been a great signing in my opinion and a fan favourite. When we sign a striker. He STILL can operate as a versatile bench option. Never a bad thing to have. Not a bad signing. And if you all said who you wanted to sell as a matter of a urgency he wouldn’t even be in the top 10 of players. So lets not do this rubbish.
Dude, wats wrong with u?. Are u still Defending the Havertz signing? I would sell the next micro second if u asked me…He is the root cause of all Arteta’s poor line ups because he has this weird fetish of Forcing him into the squad over players like Partey. He is neither a good midfielder nor a good striker, this affects other players in the squad and our potential signings ..
I love Turkish and think his options are spot on week after week. I just wish Arsenal would prove him wrong one day and actually act like a Big 6 club that is a real contender. Love for the love guys. Love the show!
I liked the song at first. Now it feels embarrassing. And yeah, the timing of it was almost comical yesterday as Ipswich should’ve scored while they were still singing it 😂
It's difficult being exciting against teams with a low block. We did score 5 goals just few days ago with the same players when the game was more open. We do seem a bit one dimensional though but I wouldn't define at as "horrific" or "shocking". We are 3rd in the league at goals scored and 2nd on goal difference
He’s still early on in his career. Could very well be up there with the best in say 5-6 years time with more experience. The problem is we can’t wait around that long. Definitely feels like it’s becoming make or break for him but he’s undeniably done a fantastic job to date getting us back up competing at a much higher level.
@ yeah I agree he’s done a great job revitalising the club. But he’s making a lot of clueless decisions now and is clearly not the man to take Arsenal to the next level. I’m not stupid though, he won’t be going anywhere. He’s on 15 mil with 2 1/2 years on his contract.
@@Kris-r3j you seem to have forgotten the title challenge and champions league final spurs had under pochettino. What’s artetas claim to fame? 700 mil spent and bottling the league twice? Support Arsenal, not the manager you clown.
Outside of breaking the bank for an Isak or Kudus (which we ideally would do), What do you think about Jonathan David from Lille in January? Been scoring regularly for them for years, has 17 this season already, still young at 24 and out of contract in summer so probably available for a lot less that he’s worth. That and maybe Kolo muani on loan, would not be too expensive and beefs up our numbers with some quality
I know there ain't much talent available in the RW position but we should try to get the best available or what is the point of all this "process" "project" bs. Arsenal fans need to wake up.
Injuries will happen to most football players. The issue is whether there is enough backup or substitute for them. Arsenal should have been playing Sterling for the last 20 minutes of everygame that Saka played. Poor management from Arteta.
We needed him in some games in the last 20 tho but yeah the games we was comfy but we’ve had a hard run with red cards injuries so it’s been tough few months
Arteta wins Carabao, FA Cup, finshes second in the league and makes a run in UCL things will be back on track. If no trophies, struggle to make top 4 its a different story.
Jordan finally got the correct camera that reflects our feeling. when ever he talk the camera turns in disgust. 😀. great pod today. Thank you Turkish for Holding the line on the standard of these club. you were on form today.
I really feel bad for Saka man...Grade 3 hamstring injuries are worse than breaking your leg. The trickiest part with hamstring injuries - far more than the rehab - is avoiding re-injury. A previous hamstring injury is the most predictive factor of future hamstring injury with research showing nearly a 30% rate of reinjury, most occurring within the first two weeks, and nearly 3x higher risk of hamstring injury for up to a year following the initial tear.
Only thing that will make me keep Arteta @Turkish is if he goes all out and sign Palmer from Chelsea then I will know we've paid these clubs back for their sins.
With Kai, he has been servicable but it’s criminal we spent so much on the transfer and contract. He’s a solid squad player at best for a title challenging/winning side
Difference is ipswhich stuck eleven men behind the ball we did our job we won and kept a clean sheet pure control liverpool played a leicester team that didnt sit everyone back
12:45 Jame's point proven right here. I see Robbie hoping teams would open up for Arsenal. That is Top 4 mentality. When challenging for the tittle, teams will be happy to sit back and grind out for a draw. Teams sitting back is actually an advantage to Arsenal because they should face the same setup in 80% of games. Under Klopp, winning became easier when we were used to breaking these teams down, and the key was to have a very good front 3, where goals would come from either side of the attack. Both Mane and Salah were easily getting 20+ goals. We are seeing this now with Salah and Gakpo/Diaz. Liverpool fan here, great pod as always. All the way South Africa!
I can see and hear the arteta fan boys in may making excuses when we dont win anything. Saka being injured is entirely arteta's fault. He's overplayed that kid for 3 years and allowed him to join up with england for meaningless friendlies when he shouldn't have.
Arteta is rebuilding the squad from back to front. We have depth in defence and central midfield. Moving on Nketieh, Smith Rowe and Reis Nelson and injuries to Saka, Odegaard and Jesus has exposed our lack of depth upfront. We need 3 more attacking players.
I stopped watching this show for a while as I was getting fed up with Turkish stubbornness in relation to the owners, the Kroenke. I tried watching the show again today, and here we go, it’s all about the owners all over again from Turkish. One question to Turkish: Do you ever take a step back and analyse things? Yes, ultimately, the owners are responsible. However, the issues in our club are multi-dimensional, and one of the key dimensions is Arteta, the head coach & manager. For instance, this Saka injury was very predictable, and has nothing to do with the owners. For years, Jesus and Reiss Nelson to name just these two, have been available to play on the right wing, but Arteta never used them. Arteta kept playing Saka week in week out, regardless of the competition. Then, Because Arteta does not believe in rotating the squad, Reiss Nelson will not be happy with no gametime. What did Arteta do, he loaned out Reiss and brought in someone who is on the downward of his career in Sterling, who he (Arteta) does not also play anyway. Arteta does not believe in rotating the squad or even substitute during the match. This has nothing to do with the owners. The same thing happened with Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe. I can go on and on. Another point to make, which Turkish also confuses with the ownership of the club, is the manager’s match-day tactics. Both Arteta and Wenger in his last years. For instance, this year, same as recent previous years, we dropped points because of Arteta carelessly switching of players around to accommodate one injured player affecting the balance of the team, whereas there was a player on the bench who could perfectly do the job instead of switching many players around. The same can be said about in-game management or substitutions. Last year for example, we could have won the title if for example, Tierney was brought on in some games to seal out the game. This has nothing to do with the owners. Nothing! Finally, please, stop saying that the owners are not spending money on Arsenal. Please check the Premier League last five-year net spend table, we are in the top three. Indeed, as a club, we do spend a lot, we just spend wrongly! At times, Arteta spends on unneeded positions, or he tries to address an issue where we are already good (trying to make us great on said positions) whereas we have positions where we are poor. The money should have been invested on those areas where we were/are poor. This is on Arteta and the recruitment team, not the owners! There are so many issues to analyse, and I feel like just saying the owners the owners, is being intellectually lazy.
I think it's interesting that people keep saying, "If we play this way against Ipswich, what's going to happen against the stronger teams?" We all know that Arsenal does not show up for the lesser teams but plays best against top teams. That's been happening for over a year now. Anyway, great conversation/debate!
As a city fan , we are eagerly awaiting the January window. The difference is that pep will get players in positions that he needs. Arsenal needs a goal scorer, not any mid fielders or defenders
I see what Turkish is saying about Havertz being Arteta's worst signing, but it's just hard to fully agree given his important goals every now and then. I mean surely that's better than Lokonga, Sterling, and DEFINITELY Willian no??
The amount of complaining when something isn’t picture perfect is so annoying. We should’ve won 3-0 yesterday at a minimum. Not every game throughout the season is gonna be exciting. Fans will say “I’ll take a boring 1-0 win every week if it wins us something” then when we get a boring 1-0 win that keeps us in the hunt we complain

Good point, i think he gets told. Havertz its the best attack we got on crosses in the air, why we dont exploit that i dont now smh.

😂😂😂 u love to compare us with u heyy get over it the tittle is going to anfield.

Yep, but we also saw havertz play there and score a lot of goals for us. The idea is the striker gets us 5-10 more goals in games where we are struggling
Why would we play the same way with different profiles?
I’ve been saying for a while that we need wingers and attacking mids more than striker. Striker is a problem for sure but the chance creation is a much bigger problem
Yeah we 100% need a LW before a striker. Not sure how people can't see that
@@SA-tf7rxa lot of goals? When?

Rory Jennings gave a better analysis of this game than you guys. He applied some context which I think as a fan you’d understand and get behind the team.
We’ve just lost one of our most important players in Saka and it’s a busy schedule in which we faltered last season.
Last night wasn’t about entertainment, it was about 3 points. We got the 3 points and onto the next one. Not every game is going to be about creating loads of chances and scoring lots of goals. It’s going to be about the uneventful 1-0 wins. Job done and move on.

Spot on. These lot wanted Ispwish to get thrashed. Because they didn't get that they are pissed.

We're never gonna win the league, are we?😢
You understand it's not about one game in isolation but a run of games we haven't been convincing, that the fans are concerned about.
COYG!

Games are more congested than back in those days and all those players use to have a month winter break every season. Not comparable at all.

Its not the ownership's fault that Arteta has stacked up on defenders instead of forwards and its not their fault that Zinchenko, Martinelli and Jesus dropped off
Don't blame the ownership, they gave Arteta 750 million to spend and he is still making excuses about having a thin squad.
Can’t keep throwing a man 200 million and the squad gets worse, the worst thing the owners did was giving him a new contract, they’ve spent more than most big clubs and got no return.
@@Shawshank00 you still have to blame the owners for not holding him accountable
Bad part of it saka is fucked
Very analytical
Gakpo scored more then Saka and he play less minutes

Best time to invest in the squad this January. We have a long string of games maybe 2 major signings. But 1 would be nice..
