Useful info. Thank you. I've inherited an old album with stamps from all over the world. Im just beginning my endeavours to research them for their values as i am looking to sell on. I started by just using Google lens to search the internet for similar images but i think this app will supersede that by far. One thing i have noted already is that there seems to be many misleading values out there. I scanned a George Washington 1903 Red 2c stamp and the first value i noted was over £20k on etsy. Hmmm other sites have them at a few pound up to a few hundred pounds. There must be a lot of technical matters that affect prices. I wish i had my Grandfathers philately skills but those were never passed to me . Thanks for the vid. Regards.... Steve
I see the same thing everyday on ebay. People inherit stamps they know nothing about so they price comp. The problem is that they're looking at clueless sellers who also know nothing about what they're selling. One clueless seller follows another and they all have it wrong. The blind leading the blind. It takes years to understand stamps. The 2c Washington stamp referred to is worth pennies.
@@LetsTalkStamps I've looked up the app for iPhone, but there are limited reviews. Mostly complaints. When they have an update for the app, is it provided free of charge if you have either a 1 month or 1-year subscription? Thanks,
The ap looks real neat! Problem is that most people needing it have inherited stamps they know nothing about and want to know the value. Without price info it is of no use to them.
The iPhone version of Stamp Identifier gives you an eBay listing link with the asking price or auction bid start. The Android version does NOT do that. If you search under SOLD on eBay you see how much the stamp sold for. If you search under COMPLETED you see how many were listed and NOT sold as well as SOLD.
I tried the trial of this app. At first, it worked fine. Then it sent me to the purchase screen for the first seven times I took a picture of the same stamp to get an identification. Now, I just tried 11 times in a row and it keeps sending me to the purchase screen. I give up using this. P.S. I have 15 stamps it could not identify.
@@danielste-marie779 Unfortunately I don't think it is available. Most apps on Google play store or iOS Appstore are made exclusively for mobile platforms.
It will work on a laptop. It's a app develop by Colnect and if you go to their site there is a possibility to search on their site, image search and is located by clicking on Catalog and in the headings over each country.
Did you rerun crescent stamp? I believe you chose wrong image from list. I am now going thru a deceased relatives stamp collection and many not valuable but a few may be quite pricey. App did not work well but my phone's camera may be problem
Sadly weak app. The first stamp I scanned was a Fiji stamp variant without a man in a canoe. The stamp identified it as the standard stamp with a man in the canoe.
Thanks for the info! I use the app, and I'd say it gets me to the correct stamp 95% of the time.
Glad it was helpful!

This is awesome app I'm gonna download it and start working on my stamp collection. Thanks for the info.
You are so welcome! Please let me know how it goes.
Very helpful video. Is there an app of PC software you can recommend that also provides an approximate value? Thanks,
Thank you so much. I have only used the smartphone version and not sure about PC. If I find out I will let you know.

That sounds great. I'll try this and see how well it works.
Thanks and let me know how it goes.

Knowing the country, the year and Catalogue CODES allows me to search SOLD listings on eBay and see what price someone paid for it.
Thanks for this informative video 🙏

I am sorry to hear and I'm not sure why this is happening. I still use the free trial and have not encountered this issue.
@@LetsTalkStamps It depends on what version you downloaded. It seems this past year they tried a few things to monetize the App.
I don't have a smart phone, will it work with a tablet or laptop?
For iPad it needs iPadOS 12.0 or later. For Mac it needs macOS 11.0 or later and a Mac with Apple M1 chip or later.
What about non-Mac systems?

I haven't yet but can double check! The better quality picture taken the more accurate.

Yes , it is unfortunate that the app is not entirely accurate. Have you come across any new apps that are more precise?
Hi i need a stamp identifier could you please help me
Thank you. Have you tried using the one in this video?
Tried this and it's useless
