Thank you for all the great tips, Mary. I have used Strathmore Bristol Smooth for ink blending, but it's not my favorite for that technique. I just find that I can't get the colors as vibrant, even if I used regular Distress inks, which tend to be bolder & less chalky than the Oxides. I have found the Hammermill 100 lb. cardstock (I think it's the one with the iguana on the packaging) works well for me. It is very smooth, but doesn't (I assume, anyway) have the coating that the bristol does, so the ink does absorb into it more. I've heard that particular Hammermill cardstock is also good for alcohol marker coloring, though I don't use that medium so can't speak to it personally. Yes, you can get blotches, especially if you "stamp" or pounce your blending tool down in the middle of your cardstock, but that might go with pretty much any cardstock/paper. While I do have a handful of blending brushes, I use the foam pads more often. I find as long as I use a light hand & just keep going, I get good results. To keep going is a key, especially with dye/regular Distress inks. If you don't have a good blend, you haven't added enough ink. Personally, I struggle with the Oxides, just to get a good smooth blend/gradient, as they do have the opacity quality and tend to layer over each other rather than blend into each other. I suppose if I practiced more, I'd improve, of course. :) Anyway, thank you again for this. I always love your videos. Take care, Happy New Year, and have a great day! :)
HELLO Mary, I'm excited for your up coming class, however I do have to wait until my payday to 'Jump in the water'! 😉 So I'll be doing that on the 14th.

Bristol is so smooth but I hate the yellowish tinge 😅
Same, however, because I only use it for coloring, I don't notice as much
