THE GUARDIAN - As new album AM is released, Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner tells Harriet Gibsone about his 50 Cent fantasies, and drummer Matt Helders explains why the band have gone 'sexy' after resisting the urge for so long. The arrangements and production of several new tracks are 'inspired by the architecture of R&B', says Turner 'but I wouldn't want to live there'.

Its incredible how Alex is so orally weak talking with someone in a conversation, but, at the same time, he has a perfect, impeccable diction, when he is singing. For example, when he sings at a rapid pace he does not leave a word or a syllable behind (Teddy Picker, R u Mine, This House is a Circus, etc.). In terms of diction, he is one of the best vocalists i´ve ever heard in my life. Its kind of ironic.
Honestly, I think he is high as hell. If you look at the most recent interview with him (the BBC one), he talks way better and more interestingly, but in this interview he just looks high out of his damn mind
@@jooolius I think that's because he became a better speaker overall. If you watch any of his interviews before 2018 he's the same way. I don't think he's high I think that's just how he talks.

Lizzie Wunn it’s just his way of talking, he think a lot before speaking and that explains why he’s such a great lyricist. He has also mentioned that if he didn’t make it with the band, he would’ve done a major on literature or something like that

He defo wasn't high. However, he does seem like he's suffering the effects of taking lots of drugs. You can tell with the slow responses, the way he has to think about things for a second. Also the stutters and the slurry speech (Compared to him 5 years ago). He looks like he's coming down from a long high and his mind isn't quite the same. I think he's suffering from the effects of fame too. It wouldn't surprise me. His ego check is probably unbalanced. He makes little comments as if he's about to open up himself but then cancels the sentence Like when they were talking how he is confident or not.He almost seems like he has lost himself a little i think, like he's in some sort of mental psychosis. I mean he's not even 30 and he's very slow. Look at his new music too! Lots of references to being high are the lifestyle that is attached to the drug scene. The music is more mellow and has lots of "trippy" sounds, the tempo has shot down in lots of his songs and the general feel of those drum and bass lines are almost in tangent with "Stoner" Music; music that is good for taking drugs with. So maybe he incorporated the stoner stuff into his music whether it consciously or subliminal. I know as a song writer that you often subconsciously send meanings and themes into the songs that are taken from your surroundings and your experiences.
Its really obvious he's abused some kind of drug at some point. Probably a depressent.
Oh btw, my father is a drug rehabilitator. I see this shit every day. and if it isn't drugs then i really think he is mentally ill.

It's different with lyrics. I'm a songwriter myself, and when you write, it's literally just flowing and pouring right out from your soul. Talking has much less emotion than that, so I don't make as much effort. I suppose Alex does that, too.
