I bought a 2011 RS5 for four weeks ago as my daily driver, complete with Miltek exhaust, and I can tell you that I never get bored of the engine sound. It is phenomenal. Even my fiancee loves it! 😁 Great review. Spot on.
@nazarek4420 Thank you. It is the type of car that you want to drive, all the time. Hell, I even want to drive it right now. I'm desperately waiting for a phone call from my fiancee to go and pick her up just so I can have another shot! 🤣
William Mason I drive one of these and really amazing cars but there is one problem which is the gearbox and flywheel . It breaks very quickly if you even slightly tune the car . Anything over the stock horsepower breaks the tranny just like that. The engine is quite good :)
And that's the reason why Audi ditched the dual clutch S-tronic for their S and RS-models because they simply couldn't handle the torque of these cars. Right now they're working with a ZF 8-speed transmission which is the same as the BMW M5.
Also, I want to mention that reviewing older cars is very interesting because a lot of fans can afford or try to go for older RS5 for example. The new is crazy priced but trying to get older and see it how it drives and hear you talking about it can help to decide and really go for it :-) And get that NA sound that is just pure technical excitement.
There’s definitely something about naturally aspirated V8’s. Every time you kick down it puts a smile on your face. Sometimes it’s not how fast the 0-100 time is like,it’s about the character and enjoyability. This car is one of ‘em beauts that you’ll never get tired off. Even though the newer models are much more economical to run. RIP V8❤️ Thanks Max
This is like a very refined muscle car from Germany. Also it looks and sounds way better than the current one and it aged beautifully than the M3 and C63 from its time.
This generation of RS5 is actually not an unreliable, high maintenance car. I own one and did a ton of research on them, both via the web and talking to a lot of mechanics, ...etc. I've had mine with 42k miles for a few years. Absolutely no issues, just routine maintenance. It's a classic and a rather limited number of them were built and shipped to the US.
That was sure delicious! Such sweet sounding naturally aspirated 4.2L V8 engine! Have a S5 Sportback with a supercharged 3.0L V6 in the same era, added a Milltek cat-back quad pipe exhaust system and it sounds great!
I would like to take a moment to thank you guys. Based entirely on your video’s i now own a 2015 Grey RS5 and i am not disappointed. Its not what i would consider super fast but im not after a race , i just love the drive with that engine / gearbox combo.
This is one of the videos that convinced me to buy a 2013 RS5 exactly 2 years ago. The B8.5 RS5 is such a great car it still amazes me to this day and it still gets me excited when I'm about to take it for a drive :D If anyone is debating to buy one I would say definitely go for it!
They could start by downsizing the amount of import/exports going on in the world for no reason, with lots of things that could be made/grown right at home too. When all that is lowered to a fart; I'll consider not driving diesels and V8's.
I don’t know why you audi guys are surprised look what happened to the m3 went from 8 thousand rpm revving v8 to a sad twin turbo in-line six, thought you guys knew this was coming
Yes it’s better than the new one. New Rs5 is literally the same thing as an M4 except for the V. W204 c63 as much as they love them sound identical to any other V8. The B8 rs5 did something now German car has done before. Take a NA sounding v8 and do something different then the typical deep sounding German car. The B8 R8 is a scream almost ferrari like sounding car. Absolutely beautiful
Drove the 4.2 rs5 and it was very nice bit I wasn't particularly blown away with it nor did I find it to be as fast as I was hopeing for. None the less though was very nice
You can lighten up the steering by simply changing the individual mode and scrolling to change the steering to comfort while keeping the car in Dynamic Mode ( Sports Mode )
This car got really over shadowed by the c63 and m3 when it was first released which is a shame considering how beautifully its aged in comparison to the e92 and the 6.3 amg, those cars over all are a bit stone age in all of their ways.
Also just got another RS5 V8 (previously had the Cab some years ago), and I just missed the NA v8 after a slew of turbos. Did a carbon clean, new filters and an exhaust and just love cruising in it.
Ian Calder how did you do the carbon clean? With a professional using google hydrogen and oxygen? Buying an S5 and want to know the best way to carbon clean it.
The new design has some nice angles but it's very busy up front for my taste, and to be honest the only thing I like about the new interior are the seats.
@@jamesaron1967 the new in teriour looks 100 times better. this one looks exactly like golf 7 interiour, not even slightly bit luxurious, for my taste its quite cheap and ugly looking for a car in this price category. c63 and m3 from this generation look so much more luxurious and well thought off.
I had this car a 2011 version, its a far better looking car than the new one, its a brilliant engine, not very economical at all lucky to clear 200 miles to a tank, that and pad transfer are the only downsides of the car, that aside its brilliant. This series RS5 is the best daily driver money can buy. It’s All Wheel Drive for all seasons. It’s comfortable enough to be driven daily. Driving to work is now fun. The fit, finish and quality are above the other German rivals. I agree with this review, this prior model is the one to buy. A turbo V6 will never have the excitement of a naturally aspirated high revving v8. Audi has really stepped up their game and these RS5’s are holding good resale value.
