The thing that gets me about tardigrades is that they move exactly like other animals - and I just never expected that from something so small. They're like a cross between a newborn kitten and a guineapig ❤
Oh, absofreakinglutely! I have a playlist of this channel that I play to relax and go to sleep to, myself! I've got a few other sciences channels I use the same way, too. 😂 I'll go find the playlist title for the one which the channel has, already, and the channel name for the other one. ☝🏽
*Historical Geology with Dr. Chris White* is the first science channel. He has all his stuff in playlists of time periods, like Hadrian or Cenezoic. His voice is as relaxing to me as Hank's is. Also, I use the _Systematic Classification of Life_ playlist by Aron Ra in the same way. They're both really relaxing to me, as well. Well, if you don't like Metal, the outro music Aron uses might be a bit of a shock. 😄 But that's just one of the many, many types of music I love, so it's not a bit of problem for me. 😊
would be amazing to see a video on 'plastivores' such as the bacteria found in cow rumen which can digest plastic! Would be so cool, if possible, to see that process up close!
I watched an episode of "Lloyd of the Flies" (cartoon about a fly and his pillbug bestie) called Hardy Tardy's where they found a tardigrade which to them was hamster sized and thought it died until they found out it was just dehydrated into a cyst. Programmes and books that play with scale (like Land of the Giants and The Borrowers) really grab me.
For anyone wanting to know more about t-rexes and other dinos, Prehistoric Planet season 2 just came out and all paleo people agree the series is FANTASTIC
I just started working in the water treatment department for my city and I have spotted three tardigrades so far! I usually will try to take a few pictures and short video, which turns into 30 photos and 6-7 minute long videos. They are so interesting to watch!
i love when you said that for almost all the history of mankind (that we know of...) we didn't even knew that this world existed. This is mind blowing !
I love the homunculus theory, it's just so goofy. We still colloquially talk about human conception like it's true, ie "I was the Michael phelps of sperm" hahaha this is my favorite episode you've made so far, Thank you for your work!
I loved this! So very cool to watch a baby tardigrade hatching!! They’re not only hardy little things that can survive in otherwise inhospitable environments, but they’re also really cute 🥰 I love this channel 😊
“…that’s why, when we found the impending mother tardigrade that started this episode, we took so much care to keep her alive” Continues to poke tardigrade in the face hahahahaha
I so wish I could get the JTTM microscope, or any at that. I am currently nearing homeless and it's getting harder and harder every day. But since day one of this channel I've wanted one. The public library lets me use theirs but they only have preserved slides and I can't bring my own without a teacher's note. Thank you, Hank, James, and Patrons for allowing this content to be free. Me and my 3yo nephew love you guys🧡
Tardigrades are soo cool. They make me question everthing we take for granted, like vision. Water bears dont have eyes like organs, but a small light detecting cells. Id like to understand how that correlates to their response to the enviroment. Surley they dont perceve light the way we do, do they? This video is very interseting just from the perspective of novelty. Only four tardigrade species have been observed while the relese of spermatozoa in exuviae.
Absolutely anyone who knows me, knows how totally and hopelessly dotty I am over My Tardies! I'm head over heels for these creatures. My daughter even got me a stuffed Tardi for xmas! This held my rapt attention for the entirety because~TARDIGRADES! 💖💖💖 Hello 👋 from 🇨🇦 🇨🇦 🇨🇦
The first time in my life, my comment number maybe close enough to one on something that I can say "hi Hank". I am very excited about both that and everything about tardigrades.
👏🏻👏🏿👏🏼👏🏾👏👏🏽👏🏿👏🏼👏🏻👏🏿👏🏼👏🏾👏🏻👏🏿👏🏼 ~ ~ ~ ~standing ovation~ ~ ~ ~ 👏🏿👏🏼👏🏾👏👏🏽👏🏿👏🏼👏🏻👏🏿👏🏼👏🏾👏🏻👏🏿👏🏼👏🏾 HURRAY! 😍 I'm so tickled that these little ones hatched and were nice and healthy! I remember how bummed I was for the ones that didn't make it, and I'm sure you guys were probably 10 times as bummed as I was. 🥺 So I don't blame you for that gigantic sigh of relief! I was quite relieved, too, and I rewound and watched that little water bear POP out of the shell at least 4 or 5 times already. 😄 ❤❤ 👏🏻👏🏿👏🏼👏🏾👏👏🏽👏🏿👏🏼👏🏻👏🏿👏🏼👏🏾👏🏻👏🏿👏🏼 ~ ~ ~ ~standing ovation~ ~ ~ ~ 👏🏿👏🏼👏🏾👏👏🏽👏🏿👏🏼👏🏻👏🏿👏🏼👏🏾👏🏻👏🏿👏🏼👏🏾
How come this is the only organism that looks remoteley "normal" in the micro world? Everything else looks like an alien but this looks like an animal. Why is that?
greatest idea ever to send a barely understood life form to a little understood celestial body having only a primitive understanding of what life means.
I find it so weird that everything around it is a blob or stick. And then you have this everyday fella just walking around. Why is it the only full sized creature in the micro cosmos?
The thing that gets me about tardigrades is that they move exactly like other animals - and I just never expected that from something so small. They're like a cross between a newborn kitten and a guineapig ❤
This is just Hank Green ASMR. I feel like I'm learning, but like I need a nap as well.

Doing his librarian voice.
Ikr?? I didn't know his voice got this chill
They're relaxing

Yes ❤
"menage a troisdigrade" 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣 Oh my GOD, Hank. DYING HERE.
As a Biologist I can only imagine the work you did for this great video 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👨🏿⚕️👨🏿⚕️👀
Lucky! I’m going to school for biology but it’s so hard to get a job where I am.
Truely!

36:36 It's amazing how Tartigrades survived for millions of years. And still here strong just imagine how would they evolve

So amazing. Thank you so much for sharing this! The birth of a water bear! Wow!
I love the homunculus theory, it's just so goofy. We still colloquially talk about human conception like it's true, ie "I was the Michael phelps of sperm" hahaha this is my favorite episode you've made so far, Thank you for your work!
It's a dumb theory
2:26 IT’S BAKING BISCUITS!!! 😍😍😍
TFW you get abducted by aliens from another dimension and die of natural causes but the aliens get sad anyway.
They're adorable and the emotions ive felt while watching this was intense.
Press on tardigrades we're rooting for you! 🎉
❤ Definitely gives new meaning to water Bear's and just like Bears looks like they Hibernate as well
I loved this! So very cool to watch a baby tardigrade hatching!! They’re not only hardy little things that can survive in otherwise inhospitable environments, but they’re also really cute 🥰
I love this channel 😊
Their pitch black eyes and claws are so cute
Lil guys making biscuits 😮 2:23
I love hanks narrations! I get sooo disapointed when a video on microcosmos or shishow isnt hosted by him :p !
I feel like I should buy you guys a card and some flowers or something. Sadly I don't think they make cards that say, "it's a tardigrade!"
“…that’s why, when we found the impending mother tardigrade that started this episode, we took so much care to keep her alive”
Continues to poke tardigrade in the face hahahahaha
This is the coolest channel!!! I love it 🥰 thank you so much for all of your work 🥹❤️
Thank you patreon people. You are amazing. And thank you micro cosmos.

I'm in the same boat. Well, I AM homeless, but I pass many days watching JTTM. It helps a lot.
I have just stumbled here from the recommendations. However, I do hope that the both of you have had and will have had your lives be bettered.
I just want to thank you guys for such intimate content. Tardigrades rule.
The baby is just so adorable!!!! 🧡

I just stood in my bedroom cheering for a tardigrade that hatched. Thank you. ❤😂
I loved this journey! I couldn’t stop watching.

Hello 👋 from 🇨🇦 🇨🇦 🇨🇦
Yay for compilation videos!! They are my favorite kind of video!!
*Moss Piglets always bring in the views and Microcosmos love!* 😉
I love the attention to detail
Never thought I would ever tear up over a tardigrade, yet here we are.
Awesomely amazing wow!!!! Thank U so very much!!!❤😮
18:55
What are the long wormy-dealie-like things whipping around the tardigrades?
Please never stop making these vids ☘️🍃🌿🍀🌱🫧🪷🪸
That was such fun! Always something interesting happening inside a drop of pond scum.
Tardigrades make great pets, and they're easy to train.
I loved this. Watched every minute intently.
Remarkable tech microscopic world seen years ago but always good to rewatch again the little hippos in a drop water
sort of how we would have evolved
I luv both your style of serene and crash course...
I’m makin an alien world and on it a meteorite with some of these fellas crashed, and they end up evolving!
Gosh, I really just love this channel.
14:24
😆 🤣 😂
*No, not too much......... perfect actually!!*
These videos are soothing and beautiful to watch
So cool! Two questions: why are they seem transparent? And why do they often seem to be swimming in place?
The first time in my life, my comment number maybe close enough to one on something that I can say "hi Hank". I am very excited about both that and everything about tardigrades.
And of course hi James
wow amazing work. this is so so cool :)
Your videos always amaze me, but this was so cool!

This is clearly hubble telescope images, or other telescope.
Is there a video explaining exactly what we're seeing inside the body of the tardigrade?
Tardi-greats!
Спасибо за вашу любовь к микрокосмосу ❤️
This was amazing !
What a great subject! What a great channel!
lmao nice skim with the microscope deal
Awesome video!! ❤
Where can I find the soundtrack of your videos ?
I can't get over how in the first video, Hank sounds so much like Mike Rugnetta
Imagine if there was a being so huge that it looked at us humans like a tardigrade.
That was REALLY cool. Thanks.
Oh, let's name this baby tardigrade, Teensy !
This is just asmr of hank green being a remorseful god to a micro verse of martian dogs
LOL. menage-twardigrade! i giggled!
The one from Startrek Discovery was cool 😎
Always fascinating!
7:09 what are those little single cells around it?
Amazing videos keep it up
I wonder which rebranded amazon microscope they are selling at a 40% inflated price.
Is it in REAL TIME ? or accelerated ? slowed down ? Thanx for this nice video.
Hello! Got the microcosmos microscope. A phone-mount tutorial would be very helpful!
What would be a good magnification to spot them?
Anyone else notice that blur knock the hatching tardigrade around at the end?
could you maybe make a video about how larger animals can evolve their way into the microcosm? they
You got me on the manjetardegrade
What is the easiest way to collect a water bear from a pond to scope?
Anybody has the reference of the 2016 Goerlitz paper?
I was about to say, guy sounds like a mellow Hank Green 😂 guess I’ve memorized his voice better than i thought from watching so much scishow ahahah
Make a video explaining the pros and con of your kicroscope you are for sale please
Its movement.t of fluids make it look hydraulic.
Menage-a-trois-degrade LOL ... not too much!
Wowowow i remember when this channel was new man
I feel sadder than necessary about the dead mother with the unviable eggs. /:
How come this is the only organism that looks remoteley "normal" in the micro world? Everything else looks like an alien but this looks like an animal. Why is that?
I wish I could afford the microscope. I'd love to see one of these myself one day .
I got a $90 one off Amazon, not amazing but a decent beginner scope
@@earthyvibrations11.11 I'll take a look, thank you!
How do diatoms show up under this?
ruclips.net/video/Ygty9HxhFK4/видео.html
Hope y'all get paid extra to say '...our master of microbes' every vid. If ur being held in a dark basement, have a tarigrade wink twice😂😂😂
So what did you name them?
I would love to learn to do this
Its kinda sad how seemingly all of the female (?) water bears are moving as if they were trying to get away :'(
I felt the same. They seemed to be doing that when they were on their own, too.
greatest idea ever to send a barely understood life form to a little understood celestial body having only a primitive understanding of what life means.
WAIT THIS IS ANDREW HUANG MUSIC YOOOOO I WOULDA NEVER KNEW
Whoa I found the video 15 seconds after it was posted
"Something that usually doesn't come to mind with thinking about tardigrades...sex"
This sounds suspiciously like kink shaming!
Imagine walking around and under your skin is a bunch of gravel.
Beautiful
I find it so weird that everything around it is a blob or stick. And then you have this everyday fella just walking around. Why is it the only full sized creature in the micro cosmos?
