Way to go!! Glad to hear it!! RV parks are the way of the future for sure! Not enough housing to go around and home aren’t getting any cheaper! Me and my wife lived in a tiny house after we got married for 5 years starting back in 2017 and we loved it! I always wanted an rn park because I new it was the future but it’s so expensive to get into! Hope you have a great time! Be good to those Tiny Home people!!

"Decision Paralysis" is a real thing. Steve Jobs was famous for always wearing the same black turtleneck and jeans everyday. When asked about it, he said he did that to keep his wardrobe options simple - a few less decisions to start the day. It might allow for one or two larger decisions later on.

I am a Journeyman HVAC technician and I am very impressed with his technique of this installation he did everything correct the only thing he didn't use is a micron gauge to prove 500 microns but I believe with running that pump for 45 minutes and proving a good pressure test he was fine

    • @madhatter55778

Without a micron gauge nobody will ever know. Could be perfect and run for years no issues, or the compressor will crap out.

As an hvac tech myself. How does that line set not bother the fuck out of you? Also mini splits require you to break the vacuum 2x with nitro to ensure a dry system. So his evacuation was useless anyways.

“The paralyzation phase” that can’t be more true. I’ve always tried to find a word for it when you’re so busy you don’t even know where to start. Or, you try and make a few people happy but don’t have enough time to do them all so you do some of each. Great video!

  • @johndavidson5564

Hey handy, Long time viewer and hvac guy. If you are going to be installing these more often Harbor freight has a 2 cfm CORDLESS vacuum pump now and hvac techs have said it's perfect for mini splits. I would highly recommend getting a vacuum gauge if you don't have one. Industry best practice now is to pull to 250 microns and make sure it doesn't rise above 500 in 15 minutes. Also not familiar with tosot but some brands have a kick stand for the Head unit so you can service the lineset but they are probably more pricey. been watching for a long time and now I've gotten a few months of hvac videos from you so I feel spoiled haha. Great video bud.

Would recommend a flaring tool (to easily shorten the lineset at times) and a micron gauge but great install otherwise! We pressure test all of our AC units and minisplit installs to about 510 PSI to ensure no leaks, then vacuum down the system to about 300 microns and perform a decay test. We also pull schrader cores for faster evacuation, pressurize it to about 10 PSI of refrigerant, pull the hose and replace the valve core, and fully open the refrigerant valve.

Only extra tool I would have is an appion core removal tool as to not lose your vacuum or any Freon because you never have to disconnect it until you are finished. 80 bucks on amazon. Obviously you get the job done but maybe you haven’t heard of that particular tool. Just FYI

@@TheHandymanBusiness , Actually look at the new Fieldpiece version of the valve core tool with the sight glass. It lets you see if you have actually "captured" the valve core. I have 8 of the Appion versions but I am switching them all to Fieldpiece. As mentioned, get a good Micron gauge. The CPS VG200W has given me the best results out of 5 different brands I have tried, the Bluetooth feature is great and the CPS Link app is fantastic. You will save a bunch of time and know that you are doing a proper vacuum, can save the decay test results, and email them as a pdf also. One of the biggest causes of mini-split service calls is leaks at the flare fittings. A proper torque wrench made for this is a great investment. Nylog is a must. The Yellow Jacket 60278 or other similar flaring tool is also a great investment if you are doing mini splits, don't go with a cheap version of a flaring tool. One that helps set the copper height above the block will give you perfect results each time.
