  • Chris Atkeson, the creator of Big Hero 6's Baymax, wants to bring soft robots to the world.
Atkeson is a professor at Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute in Pittsburgh.
He works with soft robotics, which as its name suggests, is predicated on a simple challenge: how to build robots out of soft materials. For robots to effectively operate in our world, they’re going to have to be as squishy as we are.
This video is part of Machines With Brains, a series about what it means to be human in a world that’s increasingly filled with robots.

This may sound odd, but does anyone else find this man adorable? Like the way he's smiling, the passion he has for his craft, how his eyes seem so jolly. It honestly inspires happiness within me as well.

One thing I noticed is that he said "I'm over time" not out of time, which means he went over and above and literally spent more time than given to explain his dreams... that's something I look up to.

I think whats really amazing is how the animators/character developers at disney were inspired by his robots and hows hes inspired by Baymax. I love it when when dedicated people make science fiction a reality

The fact that he's always smiling whenever he's talking about his dream just shows how passionate he is.

Turns out Tadashi did survive. But I don't think it's possible that the fire gave him a beard.
