    If anyone is wondering between this bag and the Salomon adv skin 12 this bag is lighter and if you live in a hot climate . It also feels cooler on your back.

    Great video, awesome doing the comparison between the 4.0 and 6.0. I had my Ultimate Direction mountain vest 5.0 for five months now and with all the new features on the 6.0 is definitely making me want to get this one. Regards from Cape Town, South Africa.

      Thanks, the 6.0 is performing really well, well worth considering when you upgrade. Thanks for watching & commenting, it's really appreciated 👍

    Cracking review, looks like a cracking piece of kit. I used 2.0 a for years, now it’s my “bike pack” absolutely bombproof, loved it! Use a UD Fastpac now, bit bigger so can use if for all sorts but can be adjusted for smaller sessions.
    The bit elastic side pockets look really useful and loads of great other features.
    Excellent reviews, awesome detail, good effort!

      Cheers Pete, I've a UD Fastback as well, good bit of kit when you need to take more kit. This 6.0 has moved on a bit since the 2.0, good to hear you're still getting use out of it 😀

    Wow, the new Ultimate Direction Mountain Vest 6.0 looks amazing! I love all the upgrades and improvements they've made. The bigger pockets, adjustable straps, and extra compartments make it so much more convenient and versatile. Plus, it's great that you can attach poles to it. Thanks for the detailed review, Martin! Happy running!

      Thanks Mihai, it’s certainly a well thought out pack and a good size to be able to fit a lot of gear into it 😀

    A thorough review of the UD Mtn Vest. I have always wondered why vest manufacturers most often put layered pockets on the vest front, in particular in front of the water bottle pockets because I find getting the full water bottles stuffed into the pocket is tough enough without anything in the outer layer pocket. I suggest, UD got this vest front right by removing the pocket on the water bottle pocket. But I wonder why they removed the handy pocket divider below the water bottle pocket and went with one wider pocket on both sides of the vest. I do like the fact that side pocket goes a long way back because the rear part looks like a very secure cubbyhole. And on the rear, the two new features of the lower passthrough pocket and vest fit tightening system are both a great improvement. I'm waiting for better back compression system than exterior bungie cord because when off trail it catches to often for my liking.

      If you are looking for vests to review, in the lightweight category I think the best option might be the RAIDLIGHT ULTRALIGHT 3L Trail Running Vest.

      Another somewhat unique running vest to review is the USWE brand with their single front closure system--fast, easy, simple.

    • @TheDeterminedRunner
      @TheDeterminedRunner  Год назад +1

      Thanks Brian, I understand about wondering why they removed the pocket divider on the lower front pockets but to be honest, you can fit everything in the larger new pocket, so it's not been an issue. I do like the fact the newer pocket closes so well & nothing falls out. Have you any suggestions on what they could replace the bungee with on the back? I can certainly pass on any ideas 👍

    • @TheDeterminedRunner
      @TheDeterminedRunner  Год назад +1

      Thanks for the suggestion, I've never actually tried a Raidlight pack, so it would be good to compare one 👍

      I've not come across USWE, but I do have a Deuter running vest I still need to try out & review.

      @@TheDeterminedRunner loved it mate! I usually use the Ultra Vest for 90% of my runs but I do also have the race vest and the adventure vest. The mountain vest is the only one that I don't have. Looks like a good combo of the adventure and the ultra. I sent your video on to Malcolm to check out because I am sure he would love to see it too. So if you're reading the comments Malc....Hi mate! 👋😊👍

    Great review Martin. Even if I am not in the market for a new vest it’s interesting to see what is on offer. Ohh and Lily liked the pink poles. Maybe she will need some for her next Aviemore park run 😂

    How do you secure the mouth piece/bite valve to stop it swining around? I just bought one but miss the Nathan magnet setup...

    • @TheDeterminedRunner
      @TheDeterminedRunner  5 месяцев назад

      There should be a bungee-type loop at the top of the soft flask pocket, if you put this around the top of the soft flask, it should stop the bottle moving about so much 👍

    Great comprehensive review Martin. The dual mannequins help illustrate the vest very well. As you know, I'm not a fan of my Salomon vest so this could be a good option for me. Does the hose for the bladder come over the shoulder? Is there a pass-through?

    • @TheDeterminedRunner
      @TheDeterminedRunner  Год назад

      Thanks Sage, yes the bladder tube would go over the shoulder though a pass through, it could be the pack for you!

  • @aaronsteward931
    @aaronsteward931 5 месяцев назад

    If i use a bladder/hose and bite valve is there a way to secure the bite valve? I currently use a Nathan vest tht has a magnetic setup on the hose and the vest. I bought the UD 6.0 and am surprised there's no magnet setup on the hose/bite valve. Am I missing something guys?

    • @TheDeterminedRunner
      @TheDeterminedRunner  5 месяцев назад

      You can buy a magnetic clip separately, if you Google 'Hydrapack Tube & Magnet Clip' you should be able to pick one up, they don't cost a lot 👍
