    Going on my 2nd summer with not much garden. I have some stuff in waist high planters so I will be able to have a little dirt therapy at least! I have missed you too, but it was because I was sick. And now here we are coming back together.
    I came back to a lot of holes I have to go back and fill in by watching a while lot of videos. I hated the blue lake beans too! I'm trying to eat them up, trying various people's recipes. My own sure doesn't work with them. They just taste weird. I thought it was the long COVID that has affected my taste buds. I'm so glad Charles mentioned it.
    I'm so mixed up on where you finally bought your farm..

    Hi Noel 👋 I'm with you on that cookbook. I grew up with the Betty Crocker book and love it to this day. I don't really use recipies anymore, but love to look for guides. Every time I see your property, I am in love with it. It is so beautiful! It's very hard work to make it that way, Charles does a great job! Can't wait to see it all in bloom. Maybe you should put fencing around your melons since you got some diggers.
    Thanks for a great video. Your food always looks delicious 😋

    I’m so glad to have found you! Is your old channel still around so I can check out those cooking videos? We have recently, in the last 3 years, started our own homestead mourning slooowly fixing up our place and getting our farm setup. Cooking from scratch has been helping with my daughters eczema so I’ve been doing and learning more and more.

    You’re so right about spices and seasoning. So many people are afraid to use anything other than salt and pepper. It does take a little practice, but starting with a little bit and building on that is how you learn! You have to play with your food!

      I am Louisiana born and raised. We know how to season our food and season it well. People think our food is just hot but that's not it at all. Some foods are spicy yes, but mostly it's just food that is seasoned well. I cannot stand food any other way. Most of our grandchildren have been putting Louisiana Hot Sauce on their food since they were toddlers. LOL

    • @karenswartz8280
      @karenswartz8280 2 месяца назад +2

      @@ColleenH38totally agree. My mom and granny were “a pinch of this and a pinch of that”, and no measuring type of cooks, and that’s how I learned. Although I don’t mind a bit of heat, I never was one for super spicy. But experience has taught me how to get the most flavor in my cooking, using the seasonings I like. Garlic, smoky paprika, onion powder, Italian Seasoning, and red pepper flakes and of course S&P, are my staples, and depending on what I’m making, I build on them.

      @ColleenH38 2 месяца назад

      @@karenswartz8280 We like some super spicy but for the most part, the foods in Louisiana just have layers of flavors like you mentioned. For those who just use salt/pepper it may seem overwhelming but we love it.
