Firstly - Thank you so much everyone for your kind words, and all the stories you've shared of your pain too. I haven't had a chance to read them all yet, or even start replying, and I'm afraid my replies won't do justice to the words you've written, but please know I am so grateful to each and everyone of you that has watched and supported me. Secondly - I am NOT leaving RUclips, I will still be posting regularly, the only difference is I have shifted my focus from weight loss to my mental health at the moment.

Dear Holly, I just recently bumped into one of your workout videos and to say you are AMAZING doesnt do you justice. I am 62 years old have fibromyalgia, non alcoholic fatty liver disease, extremely high triglycerides, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and depression. I'm always tired and have led a very sedentary lifestyle for the last few years. I need to start moving and exercising for my health and yes lose some weight. You inspired me! I loved the way I felt after your video so that now I want to do all your workout videos! There is something about you that I can't explain that gave me what I needed to want to move again. You are beautiful! I wish you success in everything you do. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. Love ya!

Holly You’ve called this, “I Quit” I wanna sit you down for coffee and compassion. What I see is in reality ‘I reassess.’ I have had to be realistic recently too and learn to reassess and readjust my expectations. That’s life and it’s a very important skill. The pain of disappointment is real and so are you. I once thought that I would get back to my pre-disability mobility weight and energy levels. Hah!! 😜 My body, however, disagrees. I have fought the long fight with very little gain. But it’s gain despite some relapses and much emotional turmoil and physical pain. I stopped weighing. I stopped wanting to turn back time - it only flows one way (life’s not sci-fi 😆) I’m getting better at looking at what is rather than what isn’t or might have been. Now I try to look as good as I can and accept what I see - to love and respect me. I’m sick of keto...but I dread the way I feel without it. I don’t measure but eat to satisfied and then stop. No sugar, 25g carbs (total) no processed or ready made food, (still some cravings but no binges or carb insanity). Diabetes gone. Weightloss tediously slow. But I can now walk a mile and not just struggle to get across the room. Changing my mindset to health and fitness really works for me (providing i nail the sugar and carbs). Empathy and hugs Holly and thanks again for your help and hard work.

    • @LaChickybaby85
      @LaChickybaby85 4 года назад +1

@Desert Love Desert Love I do not count calories. I just go by weight. I usually workout 7 days a week (skip a day or two if I feel my body needs to recover). I have also changed my eating habits - smaller portions, more vegetables and grains, and no soda, juice, or coffee whatsoever. On average I have been losing 4-5 pounds per month, but it’s almost 3 weeks and I am stuck at 20 pounds.

I hope you find the confidence and motivation to keep going. Any progress is a huge achievement!

Wow, probably the most raw video I've seen in awhile. My only issue is that you said "I WAS beautiful" and I have to disagree. You ARE beautiful. You left out a word when you said Binge Eating, it has one more word at the end, Disorder. Many of us, including me, have BED and it's not something you can just snap away or get over. You're doing it right by going to therapy and getting your lifestyle under control. You're on the right track, keep your head up and keep moving forward. Weight-loss and health living isn't a linear journey. If I may suggest, go check out John from Obese to Beast and see if his videos can help you along.

From someone who had a seriously traumatic childhood I’m here to tell you that you are not broken Holly. You are not damaged. I will not say that I did not benefit from therapy in the past but what we think and do NOW is far more important. We already know what happened in the past. We can remember it if we want to but we do not actually need to open ourselves up to all that pain again. What purpose does it serve? Bad stuff happened to you. Bad people hurt you. But I repeat - you are not broken. You are not damaged. We have been encouraged to think that we’ve locked it away, buried it. And we have because we could not function at all otherwise. It’s the HEALTHY thing to do.
You are not your body Holly. You are so much more than just a body but your body IS the most amazing, wonderful, miraculous thing. It deserves to be appreciated, loved and cared for for itself.

Thank you for your transparency Holly. What you shared on this video is not easy. Looking deep inside is very difficult, more less sharing what you have begun to discover. You are not alone in this struggle, I share this journey with you and am sure many others do as well. I believe I understand how you are feeling and what you are becoming aware of. It's big - it's huge - it's scary and dealing with it and working thru it will take continued courage along with some help from a licensed professional. Keep in mind that sometimes it is required to meet with different providers before you find a good fit so be patient with that part. It's okay to shop around so to speak to find that connection or a love connection as I share with the patients I speak with daily. I work in behavioral health and hear the cries of many in this area of care so "we" are not alone. I am 57 years old, former gastric bypass patient. Began at 298# and dropped down to 147#. Surgery was in 2008 and we are now in the beginning of 2022 and I'm up to 190#. I love food - unhealthy, high calorie food. I eat in the sneak and many times not in the sneak and carry a very rebellious attitude about it so nobody would dare address it with me. I'm on a boat load of psychiatric meds to treat depression, anxiety, PTSD *childhood trauma (a lot of it) along with childhood sexual assault that very few know about. I've been married 3 times. Two divorces, one that consisted of DV and was very difficult to get out of safely. I have 3 beautiful daughters from 3 different men. I am married for the 3rd time and although he is amazing, loving, caring and giving, I still find myself "not okay". I love him and am aware that something is holding me back from giving him my best. Partially because I don't really know what my best is. I wish the process of surgical weight loss focused so much more on one's mental health than it does. I believe now that it may possibly be the core to my years of unhappiness and personal - relational turmoil. In typing this, I realized it is a good idea for me to copy this and send it to the therapist I have been working with for anxiety and depression as this is not a topic I have brought up and will need to. I trust her and perhaps all of our visits needed to occur for me to feel comfortable allowing myself to imagine being vulnerable with her in this area. I hear an accent when you speak and don't know if you live in the USA or not. I would however, continue to correspond with you if possible. I'm fairly uneducated with RUclips except for videos I stumble across. If you know of a way for us to touch base off-line I'd love to. Perhaps my email may help with that. livelovelaugh1964@gmail.com

You know what, it's honestly refreshing to hear someone who genuinely struggles with the same issues so many of us do. You see all these workout videos of perfectly toned, skinny women, who don't seem to be 'real' enough. They do not see the hardships of being severly overweight or obese and think weight loss is easy. I have a very difficult relationship with food too and have lost and gained my whole 20's and even though I'm now making progress, it's only through an unhealthy relationship with food again ( crash dieting quite extremely ) I related so much to your experiences in not eating in front of people. I did exactly the same for the very same reasons thinking that everyone would look at me and think what a pig I was! I'm only just starting to overcome that and I'm now 33! So can totally understand how that can create a secret binging type of habit.
Stay strong and good luck in the new path of your journey ❤️

As a so called "skinny person" as you put it, I don't think weight loss is easy. It takes work and effort. It takes consistency . It takes eating quality food that nourishes your body. The journey is different for everyone . However, it is possible for everyone to do. What is most important to to be healthy. What you look like doesn't matter. Your weight does not determine your worth. What matters is your health.

I completely relate and understand how you're feeling. Its a constant struggle. There seems to be 2 sides, weight loss side and body positive sides. Everyone forgets there is a middle ground. Stop beating yourself up. Love yourself no matter what your size but also work on being healthier. There are plenty of people that are of ''normal weight'' and still are unhealthy because a number on a scale does NOT define who you are or how healthy or unhealthy you are. Please just do what you need to do to be mentally and physically healthy, happy and love yourself. Much love to you. 💜💜💜💜💜

I just discovered your workouts last week, and yesterday did one finally- and loved it! It got my heart pumping, it got me moving for 30 minutes, and that’s what I needed!
I’m currently about the same size as you, and at 32 I realized I don’t want to have high blood pressure, and I don’t want to be winded so easily, and that I need a better relationship with food.
You’ve really helped me see that as a bigger person, you can still move! That I don’t need the excuse of the gyms being closed, my ass can sweat at home watching your videos! That making 30 minutes of my day dedicated to exercise needs to me a lifelong priority- not a well once I’m thinner this won’t be a concern.
THANK YOU, for being real about the struggle, for showing you’re a real person, and sharing with us you’re seeking help. I sincerely hope you continue to upload frequently, because you’re seriously hilarious. And I’m happy to follow along for the ride 💜

I'm with you all the way Holly. You are a real woman. Remember one thing darling. You have small kids so you have to be healthy and strong for them. Do it for them and forget about yourself and whoever else. After all I feel they made a contribution to you reaching the size you are. At least you know what your weaknesses are. Don't worry - we all have to always strive to be better people. You are not alone my dear girl. Think of your kids.

This exact struggle has been my life for the past few years. I commit to making a big change, and then I fall back into terrible habits. I think the best thing that anyone can do especially during the pandemic is to be kind to yourself. And being kind can mean working out, it can mean not beating yourself up over a particularly rough night or stretch of days.

Just found your channel...im 15 years old, about 5'4 and weigh 189 lbs...it has me really down on myself most of the time to where i get terrible anxiety even going out to stores or hanging out with the people closest to me...its like im always self aware of how i perceive myself physically and it just sucks and I've been thinking abt starting to work out..I've done it before and stopped when i feel too self conscious but now i realize that i don't owe it to anyone to look what the world sees as "perfect" or "beautiful"... Im slowly learning to love myself and im going to start working out again but for a different reason this time.. Im gonna do it because i do love myself but i still want to work on me for me and there is nothing wrong with that being my form of self care because i know im beautiful in my own unique way and so are all of you gorgeous people❤
Also ik this is late but you making this content is really awesome...a lot of people don't understand how hard this topic is to talk about and i seriously look up to you in your journey of self love both mentally and physically...even if you fall back which happens to everyone, you are an inspiration and don't forget it!!

Holly, Inspiring people isn't about being perfect! It's about helping people to see their potential! You've done that! You've inspired so many people, myself included, and showed us that we CAN do something to improve our health and fitness! People who might otherwise give up after seeing some of the other 'beginner' workouts on youtube can find your videos and say "Wait! I CAN TOTALLY DO THIS!".
It's normal in the course of any major undertaking that you're going to think you can't do it, you're going to want to give up, but doing what you need to do to take care of yourself, and finding a way to push forward, or reassessing and finding another path to meet your goal, that's honestly the most courageous and amazing thing! That's how you learn and become better and better. Constant learning and figuring out how to make it all work, that's what gives life meaning, IMO. Anyways, I know I probably sound like some goofy motivational speaker, but these are my true feelings, and I want you to know how many people are rooting for you

My dear, sweet Holly. I am SO happy that you have realized the true meaning of your journey. No one needs to let their life revolve around weight loss, as it is only 1 part of who you are. A healthy LIFEstyle, mind - body - soul, is vital to your happiness and security and you are SO WORTH IT!!! You are worthy of a happy, healthy life -- in whatever form it comes. NEVER let the scale set the tone for your success. It is merely ONE measurement of success and is never as important as the NSV's (non scale victories). Just know, you are fearfully and wonderfully made and you were created for a purpose. NEVER put the keys to your happiness in someone else's hands. Your journey is for you to discover. Thank you for sharing it with all of us and I pray that your journey to discovering Your Purposeful Healthy Life well help you realize that YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL JUST THE WAY YOU ARE!!!! 💖

I've just started following you and I can already tell you're a beautiful soul inside and out. Your struggles are SO common with a lot of women, myself included. I started putting on weight after my grandpa died in 2003 when I was 13 years old. From then, I've never been at a healthy weight. It got worse when my aunt that I was closest to passed away shortly after my grandpa in 2006. I'm just now starting a weight loss journey myself and I know I need to see someone about all the grief I have that I've never actually delt with as people I've been close to have passed away and have just put all of that into eating. You're not alone! Please remember that and know that no matter what your weight is, you're special. You were put on this Earth for a reason and I think that reason is sharing your story with us on RUclips. Whether that be weight loss or your body positivity goals. You're making a difference to so many people and I can't wait to continue to see you grow this next year!

I am listening to you pour your heart out. You are insightful and I think it is a very good idea for you to talk to a professional therapist.

Holly, I just happened to land on one of your videos last week for the first time, and first of all, I just want to say THANK YOU for hearing the call and responding to it by creating workout videos for "people like us". I spent the week doing your 6-minute HIIT video, and just felt really seen and understood. Today I decided to try one of your longer videos, and found myself just grinning during one of your longer videos, enjoying how real you were--funny, inspiring, confident, and even a little self-deprecating (like we all are). It made me want to keep exploring your videos. ...And then I came across this one. Well, holy buckets if you aren't the realest, coolest, most admirable angel in the world! I too have gone up and down with my weight, and up and down with my gung-ho attitude about it being about "weight loss". Three years being driven by the numbers going in my mouth through calories and out on the scale in pounds. I too reached a point where I never wanted to set foot on a scale. People don't often realize the emotional toll that comes with chasing weight loss, and the realization that essentially what it does is uncovers traumas we've covered up with food over the course of years, maybe decades. As a therapy advocate, I just wanted to pop on (almost a year later, I realize), and give you the biggest virtual hug and congratulate you for recognizing your desire to change your focus from weight loss to loving yourself, and I have no doubt that if you're still on that journey, it's been a roller coaster in itself. Therapy isn't a straight line, just like weight loss. There's tears, heartache, anger, and everything else that comes along with finding joy. So girl, congratulations, you're officially an icon to me, and if there's any advice I could give, it's this: Change the damn title of this video...you didn't quit anything! You're not a quitter...in fact, that's the exact opposite sentiment I got from you! You're driven as hell. You just shifted what you're driving toward. You're loving YOU. And that's the only way any of us are going to get through this world smiling inside. Be you, my hero.
