For the question, I think could do either or. As a VTuber, I think my biggest hurdle would be my confidence, but I’ve got a deep voice that strangers occasionally compliment so I’m not insecure about my voice at all. I’d just have to get used to being a streamer and find my niche. As a manager, that could also be a fun job. If I have to pick one, I’d probably be a VTuber.

Genuinely enjoying entertaining people is a good start. If you're not too busy, why not try streaming once a week, just to see if you like it? There are highly-customisable cheap/free models out there. If you like it, you could aim to get just 2 or 3 regulars. Or you could aim to make just a few friends in the vtubing community. You don't need to be big to be successful, if you're doing something you enjoy.

    • @CaptainRhodor
      @CaptainRhodor Год назад +1

@@Noodles.Doodles My biggest issue is that I tend to just be silent unless I have someone/something to bounce off of. So with a very small chat that might not be very active, I don't have much to interact with, and if I play with friends I won't be focused on my audience and they might go elsewhere because of a lack of interaction.

I'd be a Vtuber manager, no question. Get to hang out with not just your talent(s), but potentially anyone they collab with as well. No stalkers or haters on social media in the support role. You'd probably still have access to many of the same cons, parties, etc. Don't have to run the show, so less stress overall, just making sure things are in good order. Most importantly, no "content brain" is required, trying to make every conversation & almost all the personal moments in one's life somehow relevant to a discussion while streaming!

I’ve considered trying to become a vtuber in the past (still thinking about it honestly, I have a new concept I’d want to try) but I have such little trust in twitch and am generally a bit too… dumb. I couldn’t figure out OBS 😂😂
The vtuber manager intrigues me solely because I like helping people be successful and being a manager might allow me to do that. I don’t know enough of what managers do though to choose that, so I’ll play it safe and choose vtuber.
In the past I’ve had several ideas for models. I had the idea of a wolfman with two skulls for a face (inspired by my skin in Project Winter) or a red skinned tiefling with royal robes (inspired by my old dnd character).
Most recently I thought of a model that was similar to how I look irl, male with blond hair and a clean face, but able to switch to a female version of me with longer hair and more feminine features. My social media right now have this gimmick, and I’m loving it.
Long answer, and lowkey pointless considering this was asked 3 weeks ago (or longer) but hey I like answering questions and I fear what Bao might do to me if she sees me in my semi combat gear when I go play in nerf wars competitively.

I can see why the impulse to choose being a Vtuber & the fame that comes with it is so appealing, however...I'm a sensitive introvert & my life cannot cope with all the usual traits of being a Vtuber (interests at exploring a variety of games & activities, sitting at desk & streaming for hours straight...etc), or any other form of content creator/entertainer for that matter.
Being a Vtuber's manager would be like you're the #1 fan & still gain a level of fame for being the backbone of that Vtuber. Maybe even as a bonus I'd get to meet other Vtubers by proxy; to also help alleviate my introvercy on the way. And I presume the workload & general pressure wouldn't be too hard on myself, so I'd choose the latter.

Vtuber Manager, I grew up as one of the oldest kids in a LARGE family. I’m talking over 20 kids at family get togethers large. So as one of the few older kids who didn’t have a teen pregnancy scare or a drug problem, I was often tasked with looking after the kids while the parents would consume amounts of alcohol capable of landing an African elephant in the ER. The sheer number of ADHD, sugar fuelled gremlins and unspeakably horny preteens I had help wrangle and try and teach to act like they have any semblance of understanding of how normal humans act would probably be at least somewhat decent training for having to try and manage some unhinged Vtuber. And if it isn’t I always have the rampant alcoholism in my family to fall back on.

For your question, I'll answer it in the ClassicManD format, ahem...
Well folks it's about that time and Bao the Whale wants to know, would I rather be a VTuber or VTuber manager?
Now this is a really difficult question for me.
Being a VTuber manager already sounds really difficult. Based on my understanding, you gotta be on top of your memory game, reminding everybody what needs to be done and when they need it done. You gotta remind thr VTuber what her schedules are, arrange meetings to discuss said schedules, go behind the scenes and make sure that nothing is going wrong since this is a live performance. Business deals and marketing is what you also have to deal with and this is just the surface of what my understanding takes me to.
But being an actual VTuber is definitely harder. I can not imagine the pressure I have to constantly be under when I'm in the Spotlight. As TrickyWi said, even if I turn off the livestream, I can't turn off my job. I am constantly thinking about what I need to do next for the stream, I also have to think if this thing I'm gonna do is safe for the next stream. I'm also thinking about how this next thing is gonna affect my audience, will they be offended? Will they love it? Will they hate it? I also need to think constantly why people wanna watch it. Do they wanna watch it for me or do they wanna watch it for the content itself? And worrying about whether or not I'm rising or falling as a content creator is another thing I do not want to experience on the daily. I do not want to put out mediocre content for the sake of getting views and my salary. As a content creator I want to put out something that I feel proud of and it has a positive impact on my audience.
I'd definitely say being a VTuber must be harder.

    Vtuber or Vtuber manager?
Well, that’s an easy one for me. Ever since I started playing in a streamed pathfinder game (and joining in some streams during my DM’s subathon for other games), I’ve been thinking off and on about becoming a streamer myself.
Thing is, I’ve taught literal children internet safety, with the first rules being “no personal information”, so I’d feel like a hypocrite if I streamed in a way where some level of personal info can be gleamed from watching the stream. Ergo, Vtuber.
The only bit of personal information I’d willingly give up to chat would be that I live in Michigan’s lower peninsula, because it would be tied to what my model would be. The upper and lower peninsula are connected by the Mackinaw bridge, and since we live under the bridge all of us lower peninsula Michiganders call ourselves trolls.

In the meantime, having fun learning how things work and shifting things with my old channel to get the hang of things for my new channel. So technically three channels I will be involved in the work of.. Won't be the first time for me.

Honestly speaking between being a Vtuber or a Vtuber Manger, I'd be a vtuber. Even though it might be a lot more work in the long run to get the ball rolling I just genuinely like the idea of being an entertainer and making people laugh.
(Also I'm saving up to become an actual Vtuber in the future so my answer was kinda obvious....)

    Hi Bao, Here's my answer,
If I were to choose between Vtuber or a manager of one. I'd definitely be a Vtuber for funsies. I won't do it for profit and instead do it as a hobby/pass time or as a means to escape from reality to unwind from an exhausting day of work.
As for content I might just do simple things like art, Practicing voice impressions or beatboxing, and maybe the occasional community game or meme reactions

I would want to be a VTube manager because I have an idea to start an entertainment company.
Like, imagine how VTuber companies work. Something similar.
Start small with 5 artists of various skills, hopefully multiple. Have them ALL come with a project bigger than they could do by themselves, and have ALL of them contribute to each other until all 5 projects are finished and released.
    Get bigger with more people.
Genre doesn't matter, medium doesn't matter. It could be film, games, music videos, whatever.
The musicians write the music, editors edit, etc.
I am describing a passion project for artists to collab for a very big high-risk/high-reward.
Start off small with 5 projects and see where it goes. If it doesn't take off, they still would probably have the same amount of outreach/fans/etc. that they normally would.
If it takes off though, you could potentially see some pretty high-budget productions as opposed to some guy in a bedroom with a webcam talking about games for 12 hours.
I have plenty of experience with conducting, band-directing, etc. But all of the projects involving other people, were given to me.
Like, "Someone called out, can you take charge?"
The people were already there. I have zero experience with putting stuff together, but once it is together, I can keep everything on track.

As someone who already streams, I'd rather just add a vtuber model to my setup than manage someone who does that. I'm not in the camp that I think I'd be a better vtuber; rather, I'm in the camp of knowing that my often wishy-washy behavior will drive someone to the brink of insanity, on some "hey, listen, I know I can't make or motivate you to do anything, that has to come from you, but I'll certainly support whatever it is you want to do in this moment, I got you" type of nonsense, which uh...isn't exactly conducive for any kind of managerial position, if you ask me.

I would be a Vtuber because I rather go indie and do it all myself because I'm a busy body and don't trust anybody to get things to exactly how I like it. And being a vtuber manager means I have to do things exactly how somebody likes it and it might be objectively be crap but I have to do it wrong as instructed and probably be blamed for not doing the bad idea well.

All my outfits would be variations on office wear and accurate fur hunting gear for that frigid Arctic Tundra. And I’d have an outfit that’s a member of a whaling crew. Subsistence Hunting FTW!!! I gotta eat ya know, nothing personal ;)

Streams would include video gaming streams, some( non confidential info about my life, activities, etc) and maybe some drawing/Sketch showing streams ( will always wear gloves to protect identity)
PS: Will never show face on camera unless I have a mask and shades on

If I became a Vtuber Manager for a company the main pro is that I will be able to help and see who Vtubers look like irl behind the screen and even form work-based acquaintances with them but the con is the amount of talent, work and time required to make sure nothing goes wrong in their debut, stream, contacting vtuber modellers and outfit designers, music producers, vtuber software and updates to include more features, meetings with the company on discipline and loyalty and on how to better grommet the company, etc

Your tongue _is_ a tentacle. I think some people think a tentacle has to have suckers, but ironically the more pedantic biologists dont consider octopus arms tentacles precisely because they have suckers (Other Cephalopods like squid and cuttlefish _technically_ have just two tentacles, and a bunch of arms.) The only reason a tongue would be excluded is that its just not long enough, otherwise it pretty much fulfills the definition. (Which is more or less: Elongated, flexible, mobile, muscle without skeletal support. Typically to help with feeding and/or grabbing, often with sensory capability.)

I would 100% be a vtuber. I already have a case of cannot shut up syndrome. But in terms of creative endeavors i think the ideas i have thay i would want to make fit into vtubing well, but most importantly ive been involved in multiple roles as a online community face for games, fandoms, and friend groups. Being abel to ahift thaybinto a streamer career doesnt sound off to what i basically will already do online now.
Also i wouldnt even know where to begin as a manager, i can barely function some days by myself.
