I remember hearing Gouryella for the first time. It was in the gym, playing on a ministry of sound cd mixed by tall paul. Dance Nation 6 if I recall. I couldn't believe what I was hearing
I graduated from High School Class of '99! At that time Trance was unknown in the USA. The closest we got was techno like Oakenfold or Prodigy. MTV wouldn't dare play things like this. If i had heard the brilliance of Ferrys music at that time, it would have blown my musical mind.
Well yea but Oakenfold was playing Trance in 99. Not techno. IIRC alot of the trance dj's from the netherland's were showing up in clubs like Glow in Washington DC and Limelight in NYC. So technically trance wasn't unknown. I remember seeing Tiesto and Oakenfold in New Orleans in 1999.
@@ceppy usa was really unusual anti european electro dance music of some odd reason especially during the 1990s fantastic new sound boom with jungle, eurodance, trance, hardtrance, gabber, uk garage, hardhouse and then the new millenium trance and gabba. A shame actually. USA just kept to its hiphop-rap, rock and country music.
@@knowledgehunter6101 that thing was all so weird considering all this started in the USA with techno and house, but I want to maybe make a point that theres probably some bigoted associations thats played a role here. Obviously this was just the mainstream and popular music oriented perception, clubs were still huge in north east USA. The anti disco movement was heavily based on anti black and anti gay sentiment, and things like Gabber, Trance, Eurodance and Hardhouse would earn an association with queerness for a while. It was all seen as weird, hyperactive, queer, euro music. Though occasionally there'd be a breakout trance/eurodamce hit, like We're in Heaven, Take Me Away, etc in the top 40s.
It was known in 99. I would say that it was a thing in the mid 90’s in Florida. Lots of artists like PvD and Sasha/Digweed were playing stateside in 94/95.
Back then you ran all synths in to the mixer at once triggered by midi so having the rack and the keyboard version gave you 4 JP synth parts to play at once as both machines are Bi-timbral. Another reason why the tracks back then sounded more alive 🙂
The first bit is Kaistar - The Promethen Groove I think, it's an old BT production - check around 4:50 on ruclips.net/video/_7IA-pSMmMc/видео.html. So I guess the second part is the B-side - it may be this release www.discogs.com/Kaistar-The-Promethean-Groove/release/200790 with the "Auroron Remix" on the B-side, can't find that online anywhere to check!

ha! in 1999 ferry saying trance music was different in 1991, and now what will it say huh? Trance is dead, now it is trance-house or trance-dubsteb or whatever!
Very exciting to see the studio. Young fresh artist who changed trance world forever.

I listened to Ferry for the first time in 2003, so watching this video 20 years after it was made is unreal.
I remember hearing Gouryella for the first time. It was in the gym, playing on a ministry of sound cd mixed by tall paul. Dance Nation 6 if I recall. I couldn't believe what I was hearing
“I love this, you make a mistake and just hit undo” 😁 I remember feeling the same when I moved from using Trackers to Cubase!
How did that tech know my last point of progression lol
The glorious 90s!. Nice video man.
Nice toaster you are working on there Ferry. Love your music followed for years keep producing!

Dude, that’s too bad. I guess they weren’t playing Ferry’s tracks at the raves you went to. They played it at the ones I was attending in the 90’s.
Wanna bet that's the same JP-8000 he still seems to have in his studio?
Some things just don't change.
Just watched a recent video interview with Ferry. He just set up a new home studio and the JP-8000 is still there! :)
@@tklown legend
@@tklown that synth, along with the Virus are still iconic. They set the tone of trance and even compared to the VST’s today; still sound amazing.
Ferry Corsten the best
Still have Dance Nation 4 cd mixed by Ferry Corsten. Classic🔥🔥🔥
Легенда, удивительный человек
I have been graduated from high school this year, and a have listening to Ferry ))
Nice.
You knew shit got real when he busted out those Hithouse picture sleeves from the Golden Age!!
I really enjoy your music, it's really amazing
Out of the blue is such a trance classic. Ferry must be excited when he wrote down the melody.
Good old JP-8000 :D
Yes, great synth! In a right hand it can create the Magic sound =)
Amazing synth
@ferrycorstenofficial Even if it's lower sound I still LOVE to see this type of footage. Seeing the way such a brilliant musician thinks. :)
The musicstore where he is at at 2.09 minutes is basicbeat in at the nieuwe binnenweg in rotterdam isn't it,i used to go there
Эх было время качественного транса. 🔊🎶🎶👍

I think it`s an old version of Cubase from 1999 - Cubase VST v3.7 or v4.1 (if it`s a Mac).
@@mvoproject Yeah, I think it's very old ver. of Cubase... The piano roll and and movable panel are basically the stamp of that program.

Haha
Trance has always been Trance, the only thing that changed from 1991-1999 - to the present day is the way how it's produced and the sounds.
De B trance from 91 till 96/97 was pretty different
he kinda looks like brad pitt....
