Got a new sub here. Loved the vid. Great intro to anime for newcomers. The only thing I have to disagree with you on is the subs vs dubs debate. 85% of the time the Japanese voice actors are just better IMO. The emotion and inflection in their voices are immaculate. That isn't to say that dubs are necessarily inferior, just different. Like, with Naruto, you can watch an episode and almost get two different feelings from it from sub to dub. I would have to say that if you begin watching an anime in dub then stick with dub and vice versa. Not an elitist take, just my two cents. Looking forward to more anime content!
9:30: Buddy, by this logic, we shouldn't have pre-established preferences simply because of the fact that maybe they'll end up good. I understand the mecha example but to say that we shouldn't have a pre-established preference is basically you telling us to only keep reservations on watching certain things after watching them. Which, what would be the point by then if you really wanted to avoid certain content you genuinely do not like?
So, you are telling me we all want our anime to be filled with pervy stuff? Buddy, if we were a bunch of libertines with zero inhibitions and principles, then maybe that'd make sense but excluding the questionability of it all, such scenes simply being pointless or being there just for the sake of being there isn't much fun either. If there is no reason for it to be there, what's fun about it? Heck, sometimes they put it in places which makes people in general feel nothing but disgust like in dark and bleak scenes.
I am not a fan of alot of these recommendations for new watchers you are recommending some shows that are pretty universally considered trash(why would you ever recommend someone SAO let alone recommend it as an entry point) as well as picking from obscure stuff why not recommend genre defining megahits there is a reason they are popular. I honestly think you would get more people into anime recommending frieren and calling it a day instead
I half agree with what you say. I do agree that he should have recommended a little more popular anime to start with, but even if they are considered “trash”, anime like SAO has a simple and short premise where you don’t have to think too hard since your just starting out in the anime community and has moments that covers other genres like action, romance, adventure and isekai. You watch it not because it’s good, but for the experience It’s like giving someone multiple pieces of chocolate to see which they consider the best, even if one of those pieces is “universally considered” bad. You are correct on one thing though. He really was giving A LOT of obscure anime to recommend. I also personally believe it is better to see SHORT 12-24 episode anime that is mainstream before you start tackling the underrated ones.
@@kingofdank4429 agree with a lot of what you are saying but two things one just because someone hasn't watched anime before doesn't mean they won't understand stuff. Also people tend not to have a lot of time so making them watch anything but the best stuff greatly lowers the chances they ever come back to anime so recommending things like sword art over something like frieren or Delicious in dungeon(both extremely high rated shows and easy to get into) is going to hurt the chances they watch other anime

I agree mostly, but mech animes are the worst brochacho. Good vid
Thanks for watching!
Why are all your beginner recommendations shonen?
