I will always associate this song with my most recent ex boyfriend. If there’s any song that screams “him,” it’s this song. He wasn’t a huge fan of Ween, and I never even got the chance to show him anything beyond The Mollusk. He was the sweetest person imaginable and treated me so well. Even though our relationship ended, I think about him often and wish we kept being friends. He had such an impact on my life, and introduced me to some of my favorite bands. I’ll never forget him. Thank you, Ryan.
This song is actually pretty heartbreaking. It's about Gener's hope for the future after learning he was going to have a child and proposing to his on/off girlfriend at the time. Sarah. They divorced for good a couple years later. It certainly captures a moment in Gener's life... and people say Ween and never serious. He's way out on a limb here.
Gener's love life is pretty well documented in a bunch of released tracks and unreleased songs like this. It's been quite up and down but I think he's happy now - he deserves it! It's all good grist for the songwriter's mill I guess.
You kind of get the impression from the song that he's marrying her **because** she's having his baby, which is in some ways noble and in others a recipe for a failed marriage.
This was played for our first dance 10 years ago today my wife and I still well up when we play it. Ween's demos are criminally underexposed but I think that is why I love them so much pure artists.
how do they have so many unreleased and relatively unknown gems! it's a fun discovery process for diligent fans, but it's criminal that the world is deprived of the material for the most part
reminds me so much of a part of elliott smith’s version of big star’s “night time.” “when i set my eyes on you, you look like a kitty.” i love gener and i love elliott and i love big star too ❤️
I'm so glad I've got you Back into my life And I pray, I hope you'll say That you'll be my wife I've been down And you've had your share of loss and strife Still I know, the sun will shine If you'll be my wife Don't worry, I'm not so far gone I can't be the man that you count on (forever) Soon there'll be another soul to Complete the trinity And I know it'll be so safe Snuggled between you and me I'm so glad I've got you Back into my life And I pray, I hope you'll say That you'll be my wife
uhm, the tour ain't ended brah, Mickey posted on the W.A.S. group that the July portion of the tour has ended though. Last week, they added 2 dates in San Francisco (Sept 27/28) .I will see you there. The 2017 tour ends in Dallas, TX on Halloween. I will see you there , as well. Take care.
Claude Coleman Jr. Has been their skinsman since 94, live, began recording with them in 97, but I honestly think there's bits and pieces of him beginning in 92(he's on the group photo on the flip side of Pure Guava, Classic) other than the drum machines they started out with
@hwbanger Stroker Ace was a good song. They should have used a lot of these outtakes on La Cucaracha! Worst Ween album ever. Maybe 4 good songs on it. Everything else is subpar.
It's a tribute to Ween's genius that a beautiful pop song like this, that a lot of bands would kill to have written, doesn't even make the cut.

What an incredibly mature mindset in regards to an ex. Thank you for sharing!
Why did it end, was it you?
ween demos are always so unbelievably good
When you spend years making songs on a 4 track cassette recorder, you get good at it.

Well put
.
This comment makes the entire song incredibly sad.

thats awesome wtf !
One of the few times I can say I'm happy that I made my girl cry was when I showed her this track

I saw sarah once at a concert. the week they got married. their daughter is very nice. friendly.

Every time i think I have found ultimate browness, I am stunned to find a darker shade. these guys are so incredible.
has a nice Velvet underground feel to it
It really does.
I could hear some CCR with that pick up around 1:30
i agree
Gener has an awesome sounding voice!
I think this might be the best Ween song. Every single element is equally inspired and to the same high degree.
This has George Harrison feels to it.
Yes!!!
very much
Thank god for RUclips. So many songs by Ween I don't know and should know. Beautiful!
well, I mean this one (for some reason) never ended up on an album.
Some beatles-like brilliance on this one. The chords are well thought out and addictive to play. Love the white pepper era demos/outtakes
This has that jangly-guitar sound of The Byrds for sure. But it's all Ween at the same time. Beautiful song.
Been listening to this song for 4 years.....
clap!

Still I know, the sun will shine
If you'll be my wife
Don't worry, I'm not so far gone
I can't be the man that you count on (forever)
Soon there'll be another soul to
Complete the trinity
And I know it'll be so safe
Snuggled between you and me
I'm so glad I've got you
Back into my life
And I pray, I hope you'll say
That you'll be my wife
Reminds me of I Will by the beatles.. I love it
More like Ich Will by rammstein to me 🤔
I'm convincing my fiancé to have a friend play a music only version of this on the guitar while she walks down the aisle.
Did you make it happen?
please tell me this happened
His comment was made 7 years ago, he's already playing YouFuckedUp to her and going out with the boys now
Shinola, Vol. 2!
If only. :(
They're all still alive, I think we might have a chance for it.
TheSalamanderGamer poopdood lol
Wouldn't be surprised if they did it, I mean they did just end their tour with a bang.

2018 tour better have Canada or ill be some fucking mad
Another triumph of hope against cynicism, from a beloved, deceased, but never forgotten, contemporary musical duo.
Fide Fide "deceased" WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ! ?
Fine, "deceased" wasn't the proper word. My apologies. "Underrated" may be more liable. I am still breathing. Nice day.
They got back together a couple years back. I just saw them in Columbus in July.
love love love
Thank you -much appreciation for uploading this.
I love this one. It never gets more beautiful.
Love it, such a good song!
love the beatles
This is such a FUCKING GOOD song.
if i could only have a ounce of love id give it to all who cross this song...just spare me some.
On repeat 🔁
Love you Alan
Love this.
They never disappoint

This is so cool!

I'm not so far gone...I can't be the man that u count on, forever
Excellent! :-D
@MaaCampball Thanks man! I love this Ween track.
Paymaster
Best demo unreleased.
Dig this song!
Pretty nice song.
@WeenBanjo Lol I was expecting a Bowie cover too
ai q deprê
yah yeet
@hwbanger Stroker Ace is great. They should have made a double album.
Possibly a little too similar to Stay Forever in mood to be included? Anyway, great tune ;)
@dylanfan1969 I dunno...Shinola?
@hwbanger OR they could have just put it on the album and left stroker ace.
lovely lovely brownness
I wonder who played drums on this? Also who gave this a thumbs down? Weirdos.
i would guess deaner. but not sure, though

FREAKS!!!!!!
I think this may be why they didn't want this released......this tape is a little too personal for Gener and he would have liked to not think about it
Actually hought this was gonna be a cover of the Bowie song but this is also too awesome for its good! b r o w n 4 l i f e
Feels a bit like Sarah.
This song is about Sarah, so appropriate.
WOAH.... I may have to steal this song and pretend I wrote it : O !!! Thanks / Sorry Ween!
yeah...dude this isn't brown. its beige.
