Demon Copperhead is hands down the best fiction of 2022 for me, and I’ve read 73 books so far this year. Thank you for your wonderful, enlightening reviews!
I love your videos . Have made a list of some of your recommendations for winter . Going to start with Demon Cooperfield , I read Unsheltered by Barbara Kinsolver recently , enjoyed it and very topical for America today . I loved Night Crawling , incredible prose . 🇮🇪
I am reading Barbara Kingsolvers new book, Demon Copperhead. I loved her book The Poisonwood Bible and is still a favorite and now Demon. I have a difficult time putting it down. It is wonderful. Excellent review Eric.
Cells sounds really good. I want to get to Demon Copperhead too at some point too!! ☺️ It looks like you mostly read some great books in October, thank you for sharing your thoughts on all these with us 📚❤️
Demon Copperhead is on my tbr pile. Read the new Maggie O'Farrell and Ian McEwen in October. Both very good. But the best book I read was The Prophets by Robert Jones Jnr. Beautiful writing
Such an interesting mix, Eric! Now I'm even more excited to read Demon Copperhead...It sounds like a perfect pick for the Women's Prize, Booker, and/OR NBA. Looks like you had a great month! Someone I know through a reading group just highly recommended Khwabmnama, by Akhterruzzaman Elias, which was only recently translated. It sounds fascinating, so that'll be up for me as soon as I get it.
Thanks for your views on the books. Kingdom of Characters seems like a book I would be very interested in reading. Currently I am reading the Cazalets chronicles by Elizabeth Jane Howard and am up to book 2 of the 5!
Yes! I was just discussing the overlap between the two with someone today with the depiction of doctors incentivised to prescribe larger quantities of the drug and its highly addictive nature.
I just finished Demon Copperhead, and found it utterly engaging while commenting on so many serious issues and also including a lot of in jokes. Is this the first Kingsolver with a male narrator? She seems to have carried it off.
Demon Copperhead looks good. I read The Nickel Boys, two by Graeme McRae Burnett - His Bloody Project and Case Study (enjoyed both of these). Also finished reading a brand new collection of short stories called Return to Harikoa Bay by my favourite short story writer Owen Marshall (probably not that well known outside of NZ) -
October Roundup: I finished The Complete Poe. 1040 pages. Too complete. Needs editing. Very uneven. I read Gogol's Dead Souls. Fairly excellent. Quite the landmark. I read Colson Whitehead's Harlem Shuffle. Decently good but no Nickle Boys. I read Ford's The Good Soldier. Excellent. Loved it. Only for highbrows though. And then I started Ishiguro's Klara and the Sun. I'm loving it so far. I expect a peaceful, non-dramatic resolution.
Never heard of any of these books, thanks for sharing! I've read: - Anna Karenina - Leo Tolstoy - Wuthering Heights - Emily Brontë - Lady Susan - Jane Austen - A Dutch book that isn't translated to English - by Hiro Arikawa
I only read 3 books this month... 1.A passage North 2.Mansfield park 3.We were the Mulvaneys (I loved it) Thank you for introducing me to a great author Eric 😊... whenever I pick my next JCO book it would be The sacrifice...Do you recommend it?
Was not a fan of The Instant. Just couldn't understand how it was considered a nature book. I felt that was shoe horned in. Well written but the subject matter just didn't gel with me.

Yes, it’s top quality and rightly already being celebrated!
I canceled all my week+weekend plan as soon as I started reading Demon Copperhead. Still reading, and it’s incredible!
Clever author, using David Copperfield as source material and converting it to present day. Love Kingsolver’s work.

Thank you! That’s kind of you to say. Hope you enjoy Demon Copperhead as much as I did.
I too went down the Alan Garner rabbit hole and loved every minute of it. I now want to read more of this unique story telling.
Demon Copperhead is on my TBR list! Thank you for sharing this one. I read The Poisonwood Bible years ago by the same author and absolutely loved it.
Happy Halloween 🎃
I just got an alert from Libby that my hold on Demon Copperfield is available. Can’t wait to dive in. Thank you for the review.
Great! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I’m so glad you read The Prophets! It’s excellent.
I can’t wait to get to Demon Copperhead. Intriguing review. It sounds like Kingsolver has tackled a lot in this one.
Demon Copperhead vs Davi Copperfield sounds like two stories that are interesting to consume together. Great to see wrap up!
both exist in the DC universe
@@TheUrbancenter Well Done.😆

Great! 📚
I hated Treacle Walker. I am really looking forward to reading Demon Copperhead.
If you haven’t already read it, read Empire of Pain, an excellent pairing to Demon Copperhead.

Just started the love songs of web du bois. Very excited!
I’m so glad! It’s amazing!
Me too. Comprehensive. Thorough-don't you think. And I so loved the characters. They are so real and approachable.
It's great discussion dear.
Thank you! 😊📚
@@EricKarlAnderson You're welcome 🌷🌺
I’m listening to Demon Copperhead on Scribd audio
I’m also enjoying

Glad you’re reading it too!

Great! 📚 I’m so glad you loved Mulvaneys! Yes, The Sacrifice is very interesting and based on a very complex incident/tragic circumstance.
