  • They started as welded props to an invisible super-iced plate on a server called electronoodles. This was a while ago. My latest, and possibly final, iteration features 3 separately moving physical props, with everything being held together loosely via 2 non-rigid ropes, and by taking the average position of both engines, and placing everything relative to that using applyForce/applyOffsetForce. This achievement, or whatever you may call it, is kind of a big deal to me.

    Thats Aldar Beedo's Pod Racer, but this is fucking sick tho, I'll give you props cause the thumbnail looks like Racer Revenge I was so convinced :)

      Aldar Beedo's pod was a big inspiration, but there's some of Anakin's and Ody Mandrell's in there as well

      @@Metacore91 how do i find center of gravity? when its idle its keep going backwards

    • @Metacore91
      @Metacore91  Год назад +1

      @@OOandMM Applying a non-rigid rope from the mass center of the cockpit to the mass center of both engines is done using Precision Alignment's Point - Mass Centre. As for the podracer going backwards during idle, that could be because Distance_between_cockpit_and_engines is set incorrectly, meaning the set distance is longer than the ropes connecting the cockpit to the engines

      I'm afraid this particular contraption will remain private, however, I've uploaded the E2 here: pastebin.com/pFNdUEZ4 Build instructions are included within the E2. Please keep in mind I'm still tinkering with the E2 itself, so the pastebin may be updated occasionally.

    I didn't notice whether or not you tried, but can it boost?

    • @Metacore91
      @Metacore91  2 года назад

      Nah, but it wouldn't be hard to implement. Boosting would need heat management, damage, which would affect handling and speed, repairs - these are a bit of a chore. I have some ideas in mind regarding repairing though. Damage would be capped, no exploding podracers, because forcing people to respawn them manually wouldn't be fun during an event. In-flight repairs would be possible up to a certain percentage. Let's say 50% of your total health. Enough to get you to the start at a reasonable pace. The remaining 50% would have to be repaired by a pit droid area near the start, or wherever the race host feels like placing it. I really like the idea of having to balance between carrying on with a less than optimal performing podracer, or taking the time to get some repairs and being back at 100%.
